What happens here? Would you live here? What makes the Southwest different from the rest of the US?
I’m Mexican American and I live in Los Angeles
>>221035491Northern California not considered Southwest, and is the only good part of that map besides San Diego and Santa Barbara
>>221035491I live here. Too hot, too dry, terrible cities, beautiful nature but every rural area takes 8 hours to get to. I miss green landscapes and four seasons.
>>221035491I had crab rangoons for dinner
>>221035491In general:>more Mexicans than the rest of the US>hot but dry, unlike the humid SoutheastCalifornia:>beautiful climate>too expensiveNevada:>gambling>basically nothing between Las Vegas and RenoUtah:>MormonsArizona:>most average Southwestern state>Phoenix has been growing rapidly for yearsColorado:>dude weed lmao>skiingNew Mexico:>Mexicans who never crossed the border>Native Americans>poverty
>>221035491California and Seattle are my only hopes at escaping riceceldom
>>221037629Hawaii is calling you
>>221035491crazy how that desert region manages to be more relevant than the entire midwest and the northwest pacific
>>221037695The relevant part (coastal California) mostly isn't desert.
>>221036767you're just mexican
>>221037736the other states like arizona, las vegas and colorado are relevant too
>>221037784Phoenix and Las Vegas are the only relevant cities in the desert, and they're probably not more relevant than Chicago and Seattle, respectively.
What happens in Snowflake, Arizona
>>221036767Me too.... O algo
>>221037894Woke containment area
>>221035491
>>221037856there's also the mormom state and the mexican statechicago and detroit are the only relevant places in the entire region only because of rappers and seattle is only one city and not that really relevant
I'll never be a northern californian, why even live
>>221037907>Notable people>Walter Blackman, the first black Republican elected to the Arizona Legislature>David Marshall, the second black Republican elected to the Arizona Legislature>Black population of Snowflake in 2000: 13Stunning and brave!
>>221037961>there's also the mormom state and the mexican stateNeither is actually "relevant" in the sense of having significant economic, political, or cultural influence over the rest of the country. They just have unusual demographics.>chicago and detroit are the only relevant places in the entire region only because of rappers and seattle is only one city and not that really relevantAbsolutely false. All those cities are home to major companies in several industries. The Midwest is also politically relevant because it's not firmly controlled by either of our two major parties.>>221036767>>221037902Thoughts on Shohei Ohtani?
>>221038021>Thoughts on Shohei Ohtani?I unironically used to live near him. I saw him at the La Canada Target once.
>>221038021>Neither is actually "relevant"they are relevant because everyone knows themno one knows anything about midwest other than rappers and the rust belt o algo
>>221038101Okay, the North Region is more relevant than all other parts of Brazil because people know about the Rainforest and uncontacted tribes.
Reno and Vegas should be nuked
SF and LA aside I suspect this place to be highly underrated
>>221036767me three
>>221036919live in arizona and same it sucks ass
>>221035491>What makes the Southwest different from the rest of the US?biggest mexican influence since most of it used to belong to mexico
>>221035491Saar Utah is not south western, we are zainichi Intermountain Western saaar.Salt Lake City shares the same latitude as New York City saaaaar.
>>221039304maybe to foreigners. it would probably be the most interesting place to visit purely based on geography if you're european.also as someone from that area I don't consider most of california, utah and colorado to be "southwest". "southwest" to me means desert. most of utah and colorado are in the rocky mountains and the desert part of california ends just north of los angeles county.
>>221039759are there white americans living in the desert? not in the cities but in towns and villages?
>>221041409The California high desert is full of White trash. Arizona has normal Whites in desert suburbs. The types of whites who live in New Mexico deserts belong on /x/.
>>221041610What's the difference between them and how long they are there? Did descendants of Victorian era settlers still are there? Are there any Blacks and Chinese like ones from old times there?
>>221041654California has a small number of whites that have been here since the 1800s. The majority came after 1940. We also have always had a steady stream of transplants who everyone who's been here multi-generational dislike by default because they're always the most unhinged type of leftist and I say this as a center leftist. In New Mexico and Arizona most Whites came in the last 70 years or so, but you have some old blood White settlers from the 1800s, mostly German, Italian and Irish ancestry then you have actual bonafide Whites who are decended from the original Spanish colonists from 500 years ago all across the south west and have their own identify, some mixed with natives.Chinese are only common in California but are overpowered in that they're very relevant in business and industry. The old Chinese families are mostly in Northern California and Los Angeles and some have been here for 200 years. The old bloods speak Cantonese mostly. Black people are not actually a major part of the population in the south west at all, I think it's funny that Europeans think there are a lot of them. The AfAm community is mostly in south LA and the eastern half of the SF bay. They're also mostly middle class, not gang bangers.
>>221041409there are rural whites all over the country, not just the south.
>>221041837Thank you for detailed answer
