>>221153345>The Long DarkI read this and my brain went straight to BBC. I need a break from 4chan.
I interject occationally with historical titles or Laurian games but by and large this is it. I’ve bought every single dlc ever since vanilla TWW over then years ago. I probably have nearly 5000 hours into these

>>221153159Imo it depends on what culture and faction you're playing as, but the general consensus to me is to approach the game with the mindset of fighting till the very end, sometimes you can even beat the odds with your garrison. Anyway here's my 2 cents (though i only play on hard)>Great Migrators/Barbarian KingdomsWhen playing these guys make sure to entertain the idea of migrating, and don't be afraid to get to greener pastures one way or the other. I recommend Alanii as they have a very powerful army comp, t1 Alanii horsemen can hold the line against spears to tie them down and anvil with more t1 alanii horsemen. I tried to conquer Rome with them but got btfo by Attilla so i packed up and fucked off to North Africa and became Strength Rank 1 insanely quick.>Roman FactionsI think these guys are the epitome of the game's mechanics, some players do insane shit like convert ERE to Slavic Paganism and become richest most powerfuk faction in the game somehow. Anyways, these campaigns basically force you to play like the Imperium of Man, you are more often than not surrounded by enemies and false allies, internal politics are dogshit, but you have THE most powerful troop comp in the game. I've held armies off using only the local garrison. If you see an unwinnable battle on a settlement, fight it anyway. Every dead barbarian on a Roman sword is one less barbarian raiding and killing other Roman citizens. Make sure you bottleneck and turtle, on both the campaign and battle map. Enemies tend not attack when the AI thinks they can't win, use this to your advantage. In sieges and field battles, use your core of spearmen to bottleneck and force your enemies to trap themselves into your force. Use a lot of Javelins, they break men easily and use whistling arrows once the general (because the A.I loves doing this) eventually charges into your frontline for no reason. >Cont.
>>221153116Holy based, switch Shogun 2 for Napoleon and you're the GOAT
>>221151689Total War and Crusader Kings>>221153116>>221153159>>221154170You better be playing as the WRE, aka the only correct choice.
>>221151689My main game over the years has been World of Warcraft. I raid in a 6h/week guild so not pushing that hard, only around WR 500, I killed mythic Crown recently. Other games I've played recently were Nubby's Number Factory and Dwarf Fortress with the Forthammer Fantasy mod.
Space Trucker lately. Since Anno 117 got a dlc might play a bunch of that during the weekend.
>>221154170>Cont. RomansDon't be afraid to build a few public order buildings and use your agents to get ahead. Something i also like to do is conquer a single profitable settlement in a region, and instead of giving them buildings that increase public order or sanitation, just build an insane amount of commercial buildings then fully upgrade the garrison as best you can. Very good to use port settlements too, you can use barricades to lure enemies to the docks and have your archer ships loose arrows on them, archer ships can REFILL AMMO.>Desert KingdomsMany of these are some of the easiest when it comes to administration, often having traits that increase sanitation. Sassanids imo have a mid(ieval) unit roster, Immortals are unlocked relatively late and by that point my hordes of camels, cataphracts and Armenian Spears have already taken Constantinople. Very good diplo traits, especially with vassals and clients, and White Huns in my experience tend to die early in the campaign. I Himyar and Aksum are also good desert factions, Himyar iirc has a really good fertile city game start an Aksum can get very rich, the ERE are too busy fighting Sassanids to care about their southern regions. Garamantia imo kinda sucks, and they're kind of boring.>Horde FactionsHuns and Hephtalites. They are Horde Factions, if you like raiding and pillaging and horse archers then go for it, i don't really play them.>General StuffSkilk trees are very simple, governors should focus on taxes and public order skills. Generals should focus on mdef, mattack and campaign movement skills. Regarding family management, it's actually way easier than i thought, other than personal traits, all you really have to do is make sure your king does a lot of fighting so they get influence then continuously adopt every notable in your kingdom, always make sure they're loyal, and marry girls to more nobles,. I'm not a master but these are my tips
>>221154246Fots is a better napoleon game than Napoleon
>>221154632I don't care about gooks chimping out so I could never get into Shogun
>>221154595>Cont.I actually completely forgot i also have the Age of Charlemagne and Last Roman expansions. I haven't played much of The Last Roman but it seems like a cool, battle heavy campaign. I kinda suck at managing money as Roman Expedition though. AOC is a very easy campaign, and has really low unit rosters. I suggest playing Mercia, Cordoba or Charlie's factions. But again, it's an easy ass campaign, mainly because the armies are way smaller, the funds are smaller, and the diplomacy is very forgiving, your friends WILL stay friends. Only played on Hard though.

>>221155507its unironically the easiest paradox game ever since you cant even lose when you start a game first marry off as much family members for alliances as you can because apes together strong when the AI does calculations to attack you it factors in all your alliances total manpower so with a good marriage or two you will never be declared on and second Stewardship is the GOAT to build up your buildings in lands you own which in turn makes you more money which then you spend on Man at Arms which destroy everything

>>221155507>Other anons have covered the alliance strats.Pick stewardship focus and get the golden obligations perk so you can demand payment for hooks. Get a good spymaster, and have them spy on large kingdoms or empires to get hooks. Blackmail and demand payment for ez money early game.Congenital traits are op. Try to marry a genius or intelligent character. You can pick the blood dynasty legacy to make it more likely your children keep the good traits and get new ones.Education tree is also good (after some perks from stewardship) because it helps you with development and a perk in education focus gives you some skill points from your council.Don't die broke. Leave your heir a war chest to fight or bribe the pretenders. When you become a king, max out the the lodging thing in court so characters are more likely to join your court. Give your children tiny independent kingdoms so they give your dynasty renown that you can use to get legacies, and get higher levels of splendor which makes marraiges easier among other things.Don't be too eager to ransom powerful vassals (or their heirs) that dislike you. It takes much much longer to convert counties until you reform your religion, or you might end up having to convert anyway to avoid wars. Start in 867. One part of this that sucks is, the Norse culture doesn't have catapult men-at-arms. I recommend forming a hybrid culture with someone more technically advanced in that area. >>221162850>>Genre: Open World Survival Cra-That's not really an accurate genre for the game. While it does have a minimal amount of crafting and the world is technically "open", as it is in most games, it doesn't really resemble any of the "open world survival craft" games that there are tons of. It focuses heavily on survival (against the cold) and story. You can't build anything and you can't modify the world and the (mostly optional) crafting is making/fixing clothes and some basic bow and arrows and some improvised knives.
