Our skies are usually safe
Except border areas during war times. Even then civilian planes are mostly safe. Just once in 1965 pakistan airforce shot missile over a civilian private jet that was carrying chief minister of Gujarat.
And during WW2 Calcutta used to get air raid alerts about japanese air force (similar to how Japs got about US airforce in ( eg. grave of the fireflies)
