I wish I lived in a home that didn't have shared walls with a neighbor.
One consolation I have is that I don't live in an apartment building. People don't realize how much noise travels through walls, and over time it only gets worse because of material fatigue.

Living here sucks ass. You have to drive an hour just to get some eggs

It's supposed to go
House-garage-house-garage-house-garage so they're still joined but the living spaces are separated.

I don't, I live in that britbongs call semi detached house.

But still, it's preferable that even the garage doesn't touch and is completely separated.

duh, its the same. a house should offer a minimum of land all around it and privacy, row houses or american 2" row houses dont.
you think its because im landlet but its the extreme oposite of it, im just used to a higher standard than this.

this is what old-style american cities were like when and would be like if not built to accommodate vehicles

rail and foot traffic only
death to wheels
>>
>>221179369
the nearest gas station is slightly closer than the stores, but if I go in that direction I have to climb two steep hills to get back to my house, and I have to cross a nightmare double stroad intersection to get to the gas station. and the whole point of this conversation is doing things that don't require you to drive.

>>221179417
see above.
>>
>>221179758
this is a tourist destination, modern cities need roads to move goods around, a train doesnt solve the last mile problem. Even cities like amsterdam have roads for this reason. No the entire city wont look like your cobblestone alleyway
>>
Why don't people obsessed with walkability just move to a walkable area? If it's truly what people want then developers will notice the demand and build more walkable areas.
>>
>>221179919
there are solutions to all these problems. you just have regular delivery depots + delivery corridors. The last few hundred feet can be done by trolley or whatever. rail is far more efficient for bulk transport
>>
>>221179989
the reason cities arent walkable isnt because of supply-demand its because zoning laws effectively eliminated walkable cites out of existence. We're not advocating any sort of sci-fi idea its literally what american cities were like until the 40s/50s until car industry/nixon ruined it
>>
>>221179758
those were only ever good because they didn't have nonwhites
>>
>>221179989
there are 8 million people in NYC, so when are the rest of us getting walkability?
>>
>>221180038
Why don't people obsessed with walkability just move to a walkable area? If it's truly what people want then governments will notice the demand and allow more walkable areas.
>>
its like people are intentionally pretending that we did not (correctly, mind you) build our entire infrastructure around the fact that we have nonwhites in our country and need to segregate them

we're better off than europeans are for this very reason
>>
my city has a public bus system and they're all either empty of full of criminals, boy i sure love my hecking walkability, it's like nigeria on wheels

Our governments are run by retarded boomers who think all the weird social experiments of the 1950s are normal and billionaires who want to sell gas and cars so no.
>>
>>221180131
Walkable areas aren't being built. The only ones around are 80+ years old. The few places that are around are in fact in very high demand (and thus made artificially expensive)
>>
>>221176984
I mean the houses would look better if they had more than just the ground floor
>>
>>221180192
not just blacks, mexicans too
and yes, a multilayered system of segregation, of which suburbs and car based transit is a core part, is the cornerstone of America and what buffers us the most against nonwhite demographics. Europeans are already feeling the pain in their cities.
>>
>>221180233
>i'm poor and the country should adapt to my desires

How so most immigrants and white trash are crammed together in one or two city districts and cant live near germoids because they simply cant afford it, shrimple
>>
>>221180309
the point is that public transit allows them freedom of movement, which must be curtailed
>>221180328

>>
>>221179648
no i see pretty well. what is it you think i dont see? moose, deer and reindeer causally stroll between me and my one neighbour and i think we are a bit too close, can they do that there without stumbling in the AC or """trespassing"""? will a moose even fit between the houses?
and most importantly, my driveway and entrance is on the away side of the house. when drunk i sometimes pee out my door and look at the forest and birds just because i can no one see me. my driveway/yard can hold as many cars as i want and none have any right to say anything about it. can you do that there?
no, so then it aint a house by my standards, its a glorified apartment.
>>
>>221180362
>and cant live near germoids because they simply cant afford it, shrimple
yes you have your ghettos but all that is meaningless when they inevitably mix in the trains and busses, especially in your HbFs and similar
i've been to germany, i know what it's like
meanwhile i can completely forget blacks and mexicans even exist for weeks at a time, ahmed is always there at the station and on the train
>>
>>221180385

dumb cope, yes sometimes you can avoid changing at the HbF but considering that H stands for Haupt it means you literally have to go out of your way to avoid the festering shitholes
and it's definitely more than just berlin and frankfurt
>>
>>221180552
>this defeats all the point of germany/europe being hecking walkable with mass transit..
how? you just don't take the ghetto line because you don't need to go to the ghetto
>dumb cope
how's that a cope when those cities act as retard magnets to get the weird people out of every other city?
>>
>>221180603
>how's that a cope when those cities act as retard magnets to get the weird people out of every other city?
because your other cities of any note didn't seem any different to me.
>>221180603
>how? you just don't take the ghetto line because you don't need to go to the ghetto
True but that ghetto line goes to the HbF and those ghetto folks go elsewhere so they're going to take the ghetto line to the HbF to go wherever else. they always metastasize
plus all the fucking homeless people gets on your nerve and they can be any race and they TARGET the non-ghetto lines
>>
>>221180817
I'm starting to think you people complaining about homeless on public transit are all from L.A. i haven't seen that in so long. every now and then you'll get an annoying bitch who yells at the driver, but homeless people are extremely rare.

what you want is rural life, and thats fine. But we're talking about cities
>>
>>221181069
you're cherrypicking, your country is equivalent to rural parts of the midwest and pacific northwest, which is exactly why your diaspora moved there.
you should compare norway to rural minnesota, the "land of 10,000 lakes"
nevada is a climate for mexicans and snowbirds
>>
>>221181093
its the same in most of our cities as well. but property layouts are totally different from yours. single housing units are rarely done by one developer buying all the land then profit maxxing it by building cookie cutter copy paste housing en-masse. here its minimum 8m between houses, each house minimum 4m from property line, driveways and such usually on the side with entrance and such on the away from street side. the terrain leave enough greenery that there are literally roe deer, foxes and sometimes moose walking between houses. and its both driveable, walkable, bikeable and busable. most properties are sold empty with just provisions for water, sewage and power then each individual buyer build mostly what he wants

you made me curious about what norwegian suburbs look like, wow look at that you have the same problem in some places
>>
>>221181548
is this too high
>>
>>221180484
It is hardly an America specific problem. Here people also complained when Line1 tram got extended, apparently it made the area worse. America is a very violent country so it is somewhat expected that people don't want to make it easier to commute. I'm pretty sure people would have the same reaction everywhere if crime rates were on US level. People already complain about that kind of thing here

>>221181752
No, that is actually only cost like 60% of what I linked. Having two giant garages on the front and a small door on the back is very American.
>>
>>221181890
the violence in America is heavily represented on the road, if you make a minor mistake in front of the wrong person you're going to get tailgated and honked at and see their middle finger. it also happens sometimes if you do perfectly legal maneuvers that force someone else to use their brakes. it's a complete delusion to pretend the road is safe. ever seen a BMW driving like they have a death wish? I'll bet you your entire paycheck that's a black guy.
>>
>>221182053
Well I'm from Eastern Europe you know, people don't exactly drive in a civilized way here. That being said my friend who drove between New York, DC, Philly and Boston said Americans do drive really badly. But I still doubt it is worse than here. You hear all kinds of extremes from the US so it is honestly hard to tell what is true or not

I think the complain was more about urban planning part of the suburb but somehow got astroturfed to "muh single family homes" by Yimbys and no-car-fags. Its like how China faces the same problem as a suburb in the US but its fine because its all highrises, and now we are building stuff with similar density as Chinese mega-blocks.
