If you learn European Spanish everyone will dislike you outside of Spain and in Spain it just won't mean anything, if you learn a boring latino accent you will be seen as lacking in taste or intellect, if you choose the rio platense accent everyone will think you're a snob and the rioplatences will not give a fuck, except maybe the Uruguayans but there nothing to do in Uruguay

You should learn regional nuances but only as a way of understanding, don't try to copy how mexicans or chileans speak because that will seriously impair your ability to speak proper spanish.
