ITT international things that are incredibly overrated
>british power plugs
European (German/French) plugs have same or better safety features with much better ergonomics and an extra, smaller plug. I suspect it's mostly Americans who simp for the Brits and don't realize that the entire world has better plugs than their shitty american ones
>>
Type F (the plug you're wanking over) isn't fused you utter mong

The schuko ones are shit
>>
American plugs are a massive outlier of shit

all other countries are inferior
>>
>>221191884
The fact that they have an integrated switch alone makes them superior

so
>>
>>221191884
I don't really know about plugs around the world but I did learn a while back that having switches on power points isn't a universal thing. It kind of blew my mind, to be honest.

Nah. We use the British plugs too.
1. Fused
2. Earthed
3. Not easy to dislodge
4. The socket is designed to only open when the third earthed prong is inserted
5. Sockets have their own switches
The British plug was borne from electrical fire disasters in the UK. That's why it's the best.

>Sockets have their own switches
this is the best part
>>
>>221196747
>>221196892
only the switch is a benefit
the fuse is redundant outside the UK
>>
>>221191884
Why would we simp for it stupid polack you really think we care about British power plugs? Dumbass

You can even plug them in both ways since they have two ground pins.
Incredible, British could never.
>>
>>221197832
but they take up way too much space when used along with picrel

Europeans care about the dumbest shit. Great, now you have 50 kinds of incompatible plugs. You owned le 'muricans.

Thanks for beta testing.

Finigger, what does your useless plug do that matters?
>>
>>221198144
Carry higher voltage and plugs more firmly. Also doesn't have useless holes for legacy reasons.
>>
I think an electric plug is a device which, when inserted into a socket, completes an electric circuit
>>
>>221196747
>Fused
Unnecessary if you have fuses for each outlet in the breaker box.
>Earthed
Schuko is also earthed
>Not easy to dislodge
it's also not easy to dislodge
>the socket is designed to only open when the third earthed prong is inserted
The Schukoplug with the way it's designed also requires the ground pins to touch first before power flows
>Sockets have their own switches
I guess this is an advantage.
But overall the advantages are fairly minor which is impresive for the Schukoplug considering its age.

There's the thin variant for Type II electronics, which cover most of the household appliances. You shouldn't plug too much stuff into one extension cord anyway.

I suppose you meant child safety.
There these things you can put on sockets, but they are admittedly worse than a built in system.

>There's the thin variant for Type II electronics,
yes and some of them have the power supply directly attached just block out the port thats next to it, something like picrel but bigger, also if you actually need the fat plug this leaves the problem that you need some horizontal space next to the extension cord becase the cables are thick and you shouldn't bend them too much
>You shouldn't plug too much stuff into one extension cord anyway.
yes but now you have to buy a extension cord with 5 instead of 3 slots just because some retards couldn't design their power supply properly
