I've only played CSGO for casual hostage/deathmatch for the last 11 years so I never paid much attention to the competitive scene,
but I feel like 2017-2022 was fucking huge for esports because highlight videos were always on the main menu, and my friend who's into League of L's also kept going to events in our city.
Now I hardly see/hear anything about Esports. Perhaps its still big in other places, but it seems dead here. although I think it certainly will rise in popularity in the future
