What's preventing you from living your dream life in Bratislava? Cheap, amazing culture, friendly people, lots of forests, mountains and nature

shithole with no cultural value

how did this happen

I'm never living in that shithole ever again
>>

You can live in cheap Bratislava and drive to expensive Vienna just for visiting
>>

ah yes, the "just live in the suburbs" strategy, i'm sure that leads to a great life

wym suburbs, it's a literal different country the cities just happen to be next to each other

is it not part of schengen? I assume bratislava operates very similarly to an american suburb of a city? does it not?

It’s an entirely different city, dumb fuck.

yes, and seattle and tacoma are different cities as well, yes tacoma is basically a suburb of seattle

don't act like this isn't a perfectly normal concept seen across the fucking world dumbfuck

why are you being hostile when I am asking a perfectly normal question about two twin cities? chances are, when cities are that close, they tend to operate like one unless there are some strong forces at play (border controls for example)

I visited it once, appart from the Hrad fortress and the city center it felt like travelling back to the 80's. While being visibly poorer than their neighbours, I wouldn't call it a shithole.

I'm just not falling for your obvious bait

It's comfy here if you own electric bike, but people drive like animals here which pisses me off.

The city is basically unlivable. The price of consumer goods (especially, food) is higher than in the West, the wages have been stagnating since 2019, taxes are the same as in the West, cops and ticket inspectors will harass you non-stop, public transport costs you more than in the West. Plus, the town is full of mentally ill leftoids.

>What's preventing you from living your dream life in Bratislava?
Because the difference between Zagreb and Bratislava is minimal. Today Bratislava might be a more orderly town but it's smaller and further away. I might as well just go to Vienna at that point.
Also Ljubljana is simply cleaner and more first world than both Zagreb and Bratislava and it's the closest capital to me. Ljubljana and Krakow are the only two larger Slavic cities I liked.

Economic development, 90s and 2000s were 2 decades of impoverishment. You can also see it on the Czech porn industry. Back in the day, it was only Czech women doing it, while today, it is mainly Eastern Slavs who do porn here

By cleaner I mean not only is there basically no trash on the streets compared to Zagreb which is disgusting, but the parks, the weeds, the buildings, in Zagreb everything is unkept, decaying and overgrown when you walk through the residential streets just next to the center. For example compare Domžale (I know it's not Ljubljana proper) to some residential settlement around Zagreb, it's first world vs third world.
>at least it feels Croatian while Ljubljana feels foreign, borderline oriental
By Croatian you mean Bosnian with their funny Bosnian accents and traditions. Also I saw trams full of filipinas and nepalese people without a single native Bosnian man. Zagrib has fallen!
>>
>>221241968
Melania looks like an average Eastern Euro bimbo that is with you until the good money runs out. CZ is somewhere between first and second world. Slovenia is probably first world or Estonia (but they are not Slavic).

>>221239503
Vienna was built as an imperial capital for an empire, by the mid 1800s the population of the city was already above a million. Bratislava was never built to be a capital city, yet alone an imperial capital. The population mostly exploded after the 1950s. I doubt it is bad though, its just comparing it to Vienna is unfair
>>
why is vienna growing si rapidly while bratislava isn't? is it too far for people to commute quickly between the two?
>>
>>221245792
Historical heritage does not matter that much in this region for two reasons. In the early 20th century Bratislava was 42% German and 40% Hungarian, Slovaks only made up around 15% of the city. Due to nationalist movements, Germans and Hungarians were expelled, their properties taken, etc. so there was an aggressive "Slovakization". Then during the communist period the "reactionary" class, middle class intellectuals, etc. were replaced with a "proletarian" class. These two things created the modern defining characteristics of the city, nationalism and "proletization". So despite historically the place being a German-Hungarian city, other than the buildings themselves from that period it is distinctly Slovak city today.
>>
>>221248935
Absolutely butthurt 5 cent hungarian nationalist playing victim, listen fag at this rate 100 years from now there won't be single slovak/hungarian in the EE.. it will be all just gyppos larping as us, grow up.
>>
>>221248642
recent Wien growth came from non white migration from arab countries. balkans, jeets and whatever. Their growth is non Austrian.
>>
>>221248587
Salzburg and Graz were never capitals yet they are UNESCO sites. slav cope
>>
>>221249062
What makes you think I'm butthurt? Historical heritage means less in this region for the described two reasons in my opinion. This applies to Hungary and Czechia too but a bit of a lesser degree because of the historic "continuation" but regardless it still applies. And as I mentioned it is not simply a nationalistic thing as people who were deemed as "reactionary" were also punished after the initial nationalization movement.

>>221249145
Your country does not have anything that could be comparable to Salzburg or Graz lol

To give an example of Hungary, there are very few people who have been living in Budapest for several generation. A lot of people fled, died in the war, got killed, escaped or later moved abroad. A lot of the city's population come from people moving in after the treaty of Trianon (most of those people ended up in the capital city) and there were many people who moved in after the city got destroyed and got their place by squatting in a half-destroyed building. Hunger on the countryside in many places initially after WW2 ended was so bad that many people were fleeing to the city on top of trains to find some food.
Western European cities have much more continuity, the neighborhoods there with the defining characteristics can be traced back centuries.

So Slovakians are in fact their own people (even if there are less of them now). We got there in the end. I'll probably give the country a visit. My options were Kosovo, Lithuania, and Slovakia. Kosovo is very appealing but I just remembered my Albanian experience and their determination to let you have least amount of sexual fun as possible, I'm guessing Kosovo will be the same. I'll just go to which ever is the least multicultural out of the other two

Tokyo urban length is 120KM I think, we can easily build mega city all the way to Wien, which is already happening there are small villages popping in between.
Small villages are better than one dense area though.
>>
>>221239503
Bratislava originally called Pressburg was a German-Hungarian populated town which was chosen to be the capital in the 20th century because it's on the Danube. The historic capital of Slovakia was Nitra
>>
>>221250594
We just split from Great Morava realistically.
>>
It's funny how Eastern Europe was sinonymous with communist oppression and now it's western Europe that's the communist hellhole, and not even a communist hellhole in the typical sense of not being able to own property but in the neo-commie sense of not being able to criticize trannies or certain cultures
>>
>>221250508
>>221250481
It depends on the level of urbanization between the cities
In America I would imagine that everything between Seattle and Tacoma is "suburbs" and is moderately urbanized
Same with Tokyo, Tokyo has originally been many smaller cities that merged with uniform, expanding urbanization, and now those former cities are just areas of Tokyo
But I would expect that the integration between Vienna and Bratislava is not strong enough to consider them together
>>
>>221250260
I don't think ethnicity is actually that important. Even when it comes to like Jews, which were the most insular people in Europe probably there was a huge difference between the ones associated into the German ideal and the Ostjuden from Russia, Poland, etc. that makes up most of modern Israel. Like completely different civilization if you look at someone like Kissinger and some guy from Brooklyn doing redneck Far Cry outpost capture in the West Bank terrorizing and murdering civilians

Hungarians do not really have a district look. Maybe a bit said eyes and the area between the nose and mouth. For some reason I can generally recognize Hungarians even without hearing them speak but I could not pinpoint a defining physical characteristics like Poles have for example
