He also opened up some test restaurants that only sold these McCafe drinks and said they'd be the future of the company on that basis. Also part of it is that they're shutting down the interiors of the restaurants now so that staff don't have to spend time attending to anyone or anything in it. They've redesigned them to be unwelcoming, gotten rid of play places, and even removed cashiers so that you have no choice but to use the kiosk (they had a "press button for help" thing for stubborn boomers but they've even started taking that away at some places I've been to)Meanwhile over at Taco Bell they have AI-run drive thrus that have never gotten my order right a single timeBurger King is charging $8 for a Whopper, Wendy's is probably my favorite remaining nationwide restaurant but they've ended all promotions are cutting staff and are still in danger of going under (oh and I guess Arby's is ok but currently experiencing massive inflation due to beef prices)It's a very dark time in American fast food.
