Japanese people’s perspective of religion is quite different from that of Westerners. We have word 冠婚葬祭 (ceremony, marriage, funeral, festival). To explain simply, it means religion only plays a role in these four during the entire lives of Japanese people. And this is pretty old word used over 1,000 years. So we don't dare to change it.

East Asians in general are difficult to convert to Judaic religions as even if we discount their modern secularism, the idea of only one god rebels against the syncretic tendencies of East Asian spirituality.

>Muh South Koreans
Their christcels are loud Evangelicals but even then they are a minority.

Catholicism is rather similar to what you're describing, although it varies a lot from person to person (and from era to era).
There's an old saying that an Italian man only goes to church three times in his life, and in two of those he has to be carried.

Because Shintoism is ingrained in the Japanese way of life and culture, converting Japanese people to another religion is more difficult than converting Jews.
>>

They dislike and distrust monotheism and every new religion has to compete with like 50 wacky cults that already exist there so the Japanese just see them as another wacky cult

>South Korean Christians aren't a minority.
>Posts graph showing they are.
Note that this lumps all Christoids together. Korean Christians meanwhile are divided into Catholics, mainstream protties, and rando cults.
