Do the Japanese participate in age verification through ID scans or face video scans like many western countries have committed to in the last year or so? It's horrible. In the states of Colorado and California, you cannot even create an offline user profile on your own computer without needing to tell it your age.

However there is hardly any safeguards to protect the information I must give them, I cannot trust they will 'throw away' the information when we are done, many companies (like Discord and Google) will lie and keep the information to sell or target the user with marketing.So, if those IDs you mentioned do not get used in those ways that upsets me, do you know of any way or ways the Japanese government spies or profiles citizens using technology or databases? I have yet to discuss AI surveillance cameras, that is related but a much larger conversation on how the west is failing in true freedom.

One way they could stop the jeetification of Japan would be to allow people on other visas to work low-end jobs for extra cash. After getting my N1 I've been slowly but consistently learning French. I can read very basic sentences and in a year I'll probably be able to read an intermediate-level book or two. I'm planning on studying in Japan for my master's in late 2027 or 2028. By that time I'll probably be fairly fluent in French even though my accent would probably suck. Do you think that'll impress my Japanese neighbors or colleagues? That sort of thing means a lot to me
