What is Syrian culture?
Prior to the war Syria seemed like one of the more civilized ME countries. Assad was a dictator but he ran a secular government and was seen as relatively progressive by ME standards. Many different groups of people lived in the country but they all seemed to get along. I don't know how it is now but I assume the war ruined everything good about Syria, radical Islamist groups got involved, including the one that eventually took over the government.
