I always hear them talk about compassion, empathy, care and the holy NHS in reference to the fear, anxiety and worries about someone other than them.

As a German this extreme overemphasis on other people's feelings almost makes me feel ill. For us it's kinda shameful to admit that either you or someone else is a pathetic little bitch, who needs constant positive reinforcement from other people. Especially if it's painted as a "moral duty".

So are the Anglos really THIS obsessed with empathy or is it just the way the government and media personalities talk about these things? Where are my stiff upper lip Brits?
