MENA bros, what are we going to do about this?

I think this data is misleading though. ME peoples are tribal and even consider 2nd and 3rd cousins as 'cousins' due to their extensive extended family links. In the West, you barely know your own siblings, let alone cousins. So there are probably lots more cousin marriages in the West without them knowing they are related.
>>
I think this cousin marriage shit is overblown. South Indian dravidians are rapey jeets who molest their sons and daughters and practice extensive cousin marriage, and yet they are vastly overrepresented in intellectual fields here in the US, relative to north indians. South jeets= techjeets, medjeets, while North jeets= truck drivers and convenience store owners.

>What are you doing about this
It's on the decline. A lot of this map is inflated by 2nd & 3rd cousin unions which share 1.56% to 3.125% DNA, which isn't really notable.
First-cousin unions nearly double the risk, which by itself is nearly 2% for all couples everywhere.

If you recalibrate first cousin unions on the map for some countries, it reduces the % drastically.
For turkey 21% -> 3%
>2023 data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute indicated that consanguinuity among first cousins had fallen from 5.9% of marriages in 2010 to 3.2% in 2023
So it shouldn't even be on the map.
For egypt 28% ->15%
>The Egypt Demographic and Health Survey (EDHS) 2014: This is the most authoritative nationwide source... 17% (old survey) specifically married to a first cousin
Same for Jordan, UAE, etc similarly drops to about half. Same for most of the arab countries basically.

Apart from this, there is a generational decline in first-cousin unions over time with education, urbanisation, etc as well
Bahrain from 24% -> 7%
Jordan fell from 57% -> 23%
Lebanon is now 12%
Morocco is now 13%
etc.
