Are people religious in your country?

Can't feed the hungry because giving to homeless people is illegal.
Can't visit the sick because it's illegal to trespass in hospitals.
Your move Dios?

This shit right here blows my mind. I guarantee I'm more well versed in the actual contents of the Bible than like 75% of so-called Christians. How are you telling me you TRULY belive that this book is the literal word of God himself, that it's contents hold the particular knowledge that will determine whether you go to some ethereal paradise or a burning torture pit for all of eternity, and you didn't read it.

You just never got around to reading it? There's just no fucking way. You dont *actually* believe such a thing or youd have read it dozens and dozens of times.

That's exactly why I read it so religiously as a kid, my parents convinced me this information would determine whether i go to endless torment or salvation and I believed that. I read it endlessly, constantly, it was obviously something I found very important because I never knew when I might die. Huge part of what made me see through it all was the realization that almost none of the people at church ever bothered even reading the Bible. The cognitive dissonance almost drove me to insanity as a child. Forcing religion onto a kid is a form of mental abuse imo.

The story of the Tower of Babel is a metaphor warning about this:
Men building a large structure (a church, cathedral, synagogue, mosque, temple)
trying to "reach God" (understanding spiritual truth),
but not understanding each other because they speak "different languages" (different denominations).

Today, there are more denominations of Christianity alone than there are spoken languages. That's the meaning of the story.
The Tower of Babel is whatever temple or church religious people attend.

Athiesm is an affirmative statement athiests still cant prove anymore than thr christians, youre just gayer than the christians
>>
>>221351421
Its a good read but good luck trying to slog through those parts of the old testament which just gp over how to build a tabernacle in autistic detail
>>
>>221351426
Absence of belief is not a belief. Just how like an absence of water isn't water.
Cope and seethe.
>>
>>221351446
If you guess what's in a box and say "nothing" its still an affirmative statement you need to prove. Athiesm is just as irrational as any other religion and socially you still function like a cult. You dont have an "absence of belief" you have a system of beliefs that assert something.
>>
>>221351445
old testament is not as important as the new testament in Catholicism and Orthodoxy because it is widely accepted that Jesus came to reform old rules and these are considered mostly outdated. it is just neoprotestants and west-leaning atheists who make a big deal out of them
>>
>>221351491
okay but that example with the box isn't an accurate analogy.
It's more like this:
Imagine there is a transparent glass box and you ask me what's inside.
I say I don't see any evidence of anything being inside it, but it's impossible to prove absolutely.
Meanwhile you are claiming there's an invisible powerful wizard hiding in the box.
When I ask why you believe this, you say it's because a book you read said so.
When I ask why you believe the book you have no arguement beyond "the book says so."
>>
>>221351601
your analogy is more puerile than his. idk why anglos use such infantile examples

anyway from my experience finding a real atheist is hard because, as the americanon said, most atheists act as cultists and a lot of them also have some spiritual or superstitious tendencies. my grandpa was what I would call a true atheist but the rest of self proclaimed atheists I encountered... not so much
>>
>>221351691
My grandma was a committed atheist and member of the British communist party.
Personally I have a similar view of God to Spinoza. Maybe it's atheism, or maybe pantheism. But I think you can equate all of reality to God, and we are all parts of the universe and/or God experiencing itself.
>>
>>221351601
>Imagine there is a transparent glass box and you ask me what's inside
Oh right because the nature of reality isnt a mystery its as reflexively obvious as looking into a glass box to see what's inside. I can just flip this around and say that theres a little statue of Jesus in inside and when you deny it I asky why and you say "because religion is the opiate of the masses". I used the analogy of guessing what's inside the box because the existence or non existence of theistic entities are based around specific domains of knowledge where we have no choice but theorize and give various supporting evidence for but which we will never fully solve. Theyre mysteries. We have not solved reality and atheism is just any other affirmative statement on the nature of reality like any others. Its not reflexively true just becsuse it seems to be from your perspective, thats evangelical tier
>>
>>221351805
Thousands of years of searching and there has been no solid evidence for the Abrahamic god.
If he is real and wants to be believed in then why is he hiding?
>>
>>221351392
>then theres atheists who might as well be religious since most atheists are also irrational cultists
This is the latest schizo religious coping mechanism i see
>>
>>221351167
More likely, I think is that the Tower of Babel was a story about why people speak different languages.
>>
>>221351597
Yeah I know about the New Covenant but he said he wanted to read the whole Bible and a lot of it is like that. I dont think any christians dont believe in the new covenant except wacky cults

>Oh right because the nature of reality isnt a mystery its as reflexively obvious as looking into a glass box to see what's inside

>Thousands of years of searching and there has been no solid evidence for the Abrahamic god
There has been you just dont wish to follow up on those arguments or evidence. Theres evidence and logic theres not definitive proof same as your beliefs. Again, its a domain of knowledge that will always be a mystery
>>
>>221352034
Can you share this evidence of the Abrahamic god with the thread?
>>
>>221351994
no wonder since you have an evangelical invasion. here the ones parroting OT are western-leaning atheists who don't know shit about orthodox dogma but try to approach it like fedora hat americans. they are as annoying as self claimed christians who don't even know what they believe in
>>
>>221351972
Understanding material reality doesnt conflict with theistic beliefs and our scientitic understandings are still flawed no matter how much progress we've made. I dont know why people think we've "solved" science , I just assume those are people who went for /lit/ degrees

>>
>>221352034
The best abrahamics have come up with is still the same regurgitated "something can't come from nothing" and also retarded ontological arguments like "i can think of God in my mind so he must exist"
>>
>>221352130
what the fuck does this post even mean you retarded bot
>>
>>221352073
Why dont you do your own research instead of reflexively assume your beliefs are correct and demand randos on image boards to do the work for you? I sincerely doubt you've already looked through eveey single argument, just absolutely trolled on every religious authority you've sat down and talked to, and personally debunked every piece of evidence theists assert in order to come to your conclusions. Much like most people you probably dont even know why you hold your beliefs to begin with. There are good arguments for atheism imo, its just that most atheists never make them.
>>
>>221352182
i mean progressive ideology is the moral foundation of most people in the country
>>
>>221352152
Dude football games are enough to turn civillians against other civillians, religion isnt thr core issue its just a core part of our psychology that we are tribal.
>>
>>221352278
Clearly you missed this week's elections
>>
>>221352208
Okay so I ask for this evidence of the Abrahamic God, evidence which you claim exists, and you respond with a wall of text and cope.
I accept your concession.
>>
>>221352285
Football have less bad impact than religion. A father can kill his own daughter because of flawed sense of honor from religion
>>
>>221352172
>something can't come from nothing
Its not a bad argument no matter how much it chafes you, and physicslist arguments on the creation of the universe just assume a mystery of what the universe was like pre big bang but still doesnt have definitive answers of what that would be. Asserting that theism is impossible is still an affirmative assertion either way that needs to proven and it hasn't been definitely proven, at a certain point in theology , going off the original definition, we get to a point where we reallt cant prove anything and make definitive affirmative statement hence the debate. Again there are good, detailed arguments for atheism i just dont think most people who are atheists really think about it thay far same as most theists about their beliefs.
>>
Why are liberals convinced that union with God comes as a result of moralfagging? The idea is literally based on nothing.
>>
>>221352381
Congrats dude, you have once again pwned someone on the internet. Better go back to the echo chamber and be scared to personally challenge your beliefs.
>>
>>221352073
Can you share evidence of your beliefs?
>>
>>221352485
I didn't claim I could.
>>
>>221352397
>A father can kill his own daughter because of flawed sense of honor from religion
Doesn't take religion. Ideology, religion, partisanship, just any belief system. Human psychology is more complex than you give it credit for. People will use anything as an excuse for their actions and a lot of our behavior is inherentlt irrational and exists within the unconscious. Even if you removed religions people would still be tribal, we would still violate our own morals or use flimsy justifications, and many of us won't think about it at all. The atheism under communism certainly didnt solve the whole mass murder impulse thing we have.
>>
>>221352172
Blatant strawman. Transcendentals completely BTFO secularist philosophy and if you don’t know that by now you’re just a pseud and not a serious person. You could be forgiven for not knowing what transcendental categories are, how secularism fails to justify epistemology, how circularity and contradictory claims render foundational claims illogical, etc. in 1990 when all you had was a local library but in the age of the internet where any teenager can get a better philosophy education that Heidegger there is no excuse anymore. You’re just a pseud.
>>
>>221352556
You did actually. Your reply necessarily implies you believe something to the contrary. So what is it? You’re not an intellectual coward are you? So just say it.

Okay you're just seething and lying now. I never stated that and anyone can check the thread and see for themselves you are lying. No clue why you would do this.
>>
>>221352645
Either you do or you don’t accept the Abrahamic God. Which is it? If you do, your question doesn’t make sense. If you don’t and you demand evidence, it stands to reason you don’t on the basis of perceived lack of evidence and if whatever you do believe doesn’t have evidence you’re just a hypocrite. So stop playing game and fess up about what you believe.

Most people in my country attend big ceremonies like the Reenactment of Christ's Baptism ,The procession of the Epitaph or the Night of Resurrection but don't go to the church often. As of the younger people around my generation, many don't seem to care at all. I view atheism as the failure of today's clergy to bring people closer to the Divine. Everyone is struggling with a lot of problems. Poverty, crime, moral decay, absurd violence, failed marriages, drug addictions etc but I see little to no effort from most priests to approach the world and try to cure it.
