I'm gen X. I grew up under Pax Americana of the 80s and 90s, where America was the Good Guy in movies and irl. Then Desert Storm happened, which broke the spell for me. Not because I loved Saddam or Iraq, but seeing how Cheney backstabbed Saddam, the US strongest ally in the ME at the time made me realize the US is no better than the big bad USSR.
