How do they feel about each other? Do they like reminiscing about old Tautonic and Hanseatic times? Are they similar in mentality and culture? Do they respect one another?

I don’t know a single thing about Estonia.
>>
there was an Estonian ultranationalist proposal about 15 years ago to bring in ten million Germans to Estonia
>>
The average german has no knowledge or interest about Livonia, Estonia or Latvia.
Baltic Germans as distinct ethnic group are non-existent anymore, wat is left are 60+ year old boomers who visit once every dozen years or so, their kids don't care at all.
Besides, most Baltic """germans""" identify themselves are russians in the first place, so if they even care about Baltics they are interest in them in the context of russian empire not as a medieval Christian state.
The currently most prominent individual with Baltic German ancestry is a russian shill journalist

However Estonian-Baltic German relations were better than Latvian-Baltic German relations, so maybe it is different on their side.

Why? Did he think Estonians can't manage themselves? I know their country is depopulating, but wow.

You would need an Estonian to explain their part.

During WW1 the frontline went through Latvia and cut is in half.
During Independence were there were 3 factions: Latvian National and Pro-German, as well as Pro-Soviet
Latvian and German factions cooperated but then didn't and it culminated with the Battle of Cesis where Estonians beat back pro-German forces after which they were told to stand down by the Allies.
The focus shifted towards pushing out pro-Soviet forces from Latgale (with help from Poland) but the Germans reformed in to an alleged white russian volunteer unit which was supposed to go help out in Petersburg but instead occupied Riga.
Riga gets liberated and the war ends after soviets get pushed out of Latgale.

After that, the new Latvian goverment begins land reform that consists of confiscating land from baltic german land owners which they obviously aren't big fans of, as well as the fact that germans that served in the Baltic Freikorps and Baltic Landeswehr weren't given land as they were promised by Latvian Goverment, and they also didn't like that.

But that aside, Baltic germans still remained the core of the economic and social elite in the cities.
Then in 1930s Ulmanis did his coup and enacted pro-Latvian, fuck-minorities policy that saw a lot of baltic german privilige evaporate.
Then Hitler called them back home
In 1990s when property confiscated by soviets was being returned to the rightful owners, there was no major push to involve baltic germans.

>>221372374
she isn't baltic german so I don't get your point

>>221372437
Lithuania didn't really have Baltic Germans, people living in Memel I guess fall under East Prussians.
Baltic Germans refers exclusively to the Nobility and Merchant/Tradesmen class of german/Local/Polish/russian mutts that were the defacto ruling and urban class from 13th to early 20th century of Latvia and Estonia, or Livonia as it was known for most of the history.

So, basically Latvian-German relations are like Czech-German relations.

Latvian-Baltic German*.
Latvian-German relations are a bit different.
But also we assume they look at as us subhuman but at the same time we probably have a more positive opinion of the Reich than the average German does.
>>221373207
Yea, basically an evacuation of germans from soviet sphere of influence, but they mainly got resettled in occupied Poland and some returned with the german occupation
>>
>>221373268
We love the Baltics

Most Germans these days would be troubled to correctly assign the Baltic countries on a map
If they view you as subhuman, then it's due to reverse cheerleader effect from being next to Russia
Also our media keep wanking themselves over how progressive and digitalized Estonia and Latvia are becoming, and the digital backwater that we are in comparison
>>
I don't think about Estland

I don't think

>how progressive and digitalized Estonia and Latvia are becoming
I've said it before, but there was a news report some years ago how a Latvian guy got into a physical conflict with some German pub owner be because he kept ordering beers one by one using a credit card and apparently you guys don't do that in Germoney, so the owner got super mad
