Why is eating boiled potatoes so exceedingly rare outside of North Europe and Germany? I've never seen or even heard of someone in Asia or Italy or the Americas eating boiled potatoes
>>
>>221404685
because it tastes bland
fried or baked potatoes are way better
>>
We make it into stews if that even counts as boiling
>>
>>221404685
I love boiled potatoes
>>
>>221404685
The whiter you are, the blander your palate. Only true aryan can stand boiled potatoes. It's also why brits are so insistent that the bland food stereotype about them isn't true, because they aren't white.

>why
Shit soil and weather
>>

I think he's talking the potato being prepared and served solely like that so stews wouldn't count

>boiled potatoes are bland
what kind of shitty potatoes are you eating?
>>
>>221404685
Eating boiled potatoes is common here in Canada. It's a northern thing, the potato is a hardy vegetable that stores well during the winter. Yeah it's a boring food, but traditionally northerners never had the luxury of developing sophisticated cuisines, our ancestors ate what they could while dealing with harsh growing conditions.

Because it's the shittest way to have potatoes. New potatoes are nice, the skin gives them flavour, take that off and you have fuck all, at least with mashed potato you add butter and have a nice texture.
>>
>>221405536
Pro tip: Don't just add butter, throw in a dollop of sour cream and some minced garlic as well.
>>
>>221405608
You can add lots of stuff, adding cheese is nice.
>>
>>221404685
>he doesnt know about French style mashed potatoes
And before anyone asks, yes its basically just insane amount of butter but also extremely finely mashed and filtered potatoes
>>
>>221404685

Boiled potatoes with some butter and dill is 10/10.
>>
>>221404685
Baked potatoes are the same things basically
We boil potatoes to mash them
>>
>>221404685
We eat baked potatoes here. I think in Bolivia and Ecuador they do the same.

why are you like this

I legitimately don't understand why you would eat a plain boiled potato unless that's all you has. It tastes like very little besides the skin. Why not at least mash it up and add some spices, butter, or salt. Even if you have some fairly serious dietary restrictions you can add something. Nordics and balts have the palette of children. Except for eating fermented fish of course.

>>221406202
Liking good food? I don't know, weird I guess.
>>
It's not even that bland just put a bit of salt or mash them into mashed potatoes
>>
>>221406130
I would eat the entire tray
>>
>>221406242
potatoes lose nutrients when you boil them, for one thing

Dunno, but I have always wanted to try the boiled potatoes covered in goat cheese that Holo was eating.

for me it's white pepper
>>
>>221405225
Why bother if I can just turn them into oven fries or roast potatoes? The last time I ate boiled potatoes, I was overwhelmed with sadness nĂ³ver not preparing them in one of their superior forms instead.
Unless your only kitchen utensil is a pot, there is simply no reason to boil them.

Probably because boiled potatoes fucking suck. By far the worst form of potato which is inferior to pasta and rice in the first place.
>>
>>221404922
nah you have to eat them plain with NO spices or seasonings
>>
>>221407335
>erm actually

I eat them with olive oil or butter, salt, pepper and abundant parsley, they are very good

Fried potatoes feels more like party food. It'd be like having party food every day.
