Why does it feel like culture stopped being real at some point in the 1950s? TV really did ruin everything didn't it?

After the proliferation of cheap textiles and the globalization of pop culture, dressing like your parents or grandparents basically became a costume. everyone young person that lives in a somewhat metro area is basically the same now

The couple on the right would meet in their early 20s with the full intention of marrying and starting a family. I'm 31, and was born into this peasant milieu. Even some of the people I went to high school with immediately got their girlfriends pregnant 1-3 years after we graduated with the goal of starting a family. So much has changed not even generationally, but in the past decade.
