>bu bu but if you set a wealth tax all the rich people will just leave for tax havensOk so why dont we just occupy the tax havens and force them to have a wealth tax too? The fuck is monaco gonna do about it
>>221448605Norway and Switzerland both have wealth tax, this argument is retardedwe should lower income tax and social security contributions for normal people though
>>221448605China has swallowed up the global production system.Capitalist countries have financialized capital and run the country through lobbying. Only a revolution could fix the capitalist model. Taxes are just a meme at this point.
>>221448657Literally just put a tax on imported goods. T'aint nevr needed nuthin from any other country than 'merica.
>>221448605look up what happened to France under Hollande when they did just that
>>221448605The rich already pay taxes. The top 10% contribute 70% of all tax revenue in my country. They will literally just go to another country if you try taxing them more. Once they leave you lose a fuck ton of tax revenue. Leftists are too stupid to realize this.
>>221448878>They will literally just go to another country if you try taxing them moreFor what? A country with worse infrastructure and services, or jackshit startup environment?>Once they leave you lose a fuck ton of tax revenue. They always bitch and moan about taxes while always demanding more out of the system.
>>221448605Who's going to invade the? Germany?
>>221448614That doesn't really work, even confiscating (i.e. 100% tax) on any given nation's 1% would barely be able to fund your average western state for a year. What you do need is progressive taxation, consumption taxes and redistributive schemes in the form of direct cash transfers, definitely not waiving fees or subsidizing at point of access which in turn only really benefits the largest consumers (i.e. the wealthy).
>>221448878There is literally no evidence of this btw. Inb4 somebody points to my country's recent wealth tax hike where despite some whiny and bombastic billionaires very publicly leaving for Switzerland, revenue from wealth taxes still rose.
>>221449270I didn't say we should abolish income tax and social security contributions, just lower them and instead introduce a wealth tax on the very wealthy (2m+ net worth or so) to make up for it. It's not a black and white matter, it's about fine tuning. We have too high wealth inequality and should adress that by targeting the wealthy more and relieving the less wealthy.
>>221448605The super rich can very easy dodge tax without every needing to leave their country. Any new law will effect the 1% far more than the 0.1%.
>>221449656Just execute the super wealthy then. Also 100% death tax.
>>221448904>For what? A country with worse infrastructure and services, or jackshit startup environment? There are many countries with ridiculously low tax rates, even NO income tax, that have better infrastructure than Western countries. This is not the 20th century anymore. The rich now have dozens of better countries with better deals to choose from. One of the main reasons all the rich were going to Dubai was the lack of income tax and very low capital gains tax AND the safety.Dubai is now in the shitter due to the war, but it's still safer than most European and American cities.
How dare plebeians demand anything from the patricians.
>>221449656Yup. The bulk of tax avoidance is non-physical so "invading the tax havens" won't really do shit. But another issue is that even if the wealthy are fairly taxed, the tax revenue will return to them in some way through government contracts and general corruption.
>>221450904>but it's still safer than most European and American cities*gets nuked by Iran in 2035*Yeah, no. Dubai is never ever going to be as popular as it was before the war.
>>221448605Serious countries all have their own tax havens, China has Hong Kong, England has plenty of tax haven islands, France has Monaco (only nominally independent)…
>>221449678>Also 100% death tax.This. Total old-money death
>>221450904And how will you find 45% of Spain's budget if you slash income tax?
>>221451055It already does though, you dont need to make it easier for them
>>221449678The government is wealthier than any individual, so let’s execute the government first.
>>221448708Are you able to produce all the hardware, end-2-end, that your tech industry needs?
