But also so different at the same time. Maybe it's the weather as well but it feels so lived in, so old, and yet so ordered. It's difficult to describe.

Walking through here, I feel so much like I ought to know how things work and so I'm a bit dismayed that I don't. There's so much that feels familiar and yet so alien.

I went to Japan half a year ago for the first time after having been learning Japanese for like 5-6 years
And the cities were meh. Tokyo, Osaka were super boring
Kyoto, Nara and the countryside were awesome tho.
Next time I will go somewhere down south and immediately leave Osaka and go to smaller places

I’m Japanese, but when I went to Namba in Osaka for the first time in ten years, I was actually a bit disappointed. Namba had turned into a proper tourist trap, and the people there had started to act just like Tokyoites. It made me realise that when a place becomes a tourist attraction, it loses its soul.

desu some places are nice like golden gai, akihabara or such, but if you're talking about south then I must recommend udon at "Makino Udon Hakata Bus Terminal" in fukuoka - best I've ever tried to this day, I recommend karage version!

There is also a nice sightseeing train on the southern part of the island, hot springs in oita.
A lot of surfing spots if that's your thing, but honestly really rural japan. From there I recommend to take a flight to okinawa for a few days too!.

I don't know japanese that well, but a few weeks of loose study is enoght to comfortably order beer, food or buy loli figures. Weeb heaven! But I recommend visiting as duo with some fren (cheaper as well)

The only thing that the BBC do well is travel documentaries.
YouTube vloggers cannot do a country justice the way that a state (tax-payer funded) broadcaster can.
It’s an incredibly country.

Seems slower than I would imagine, you'd think a big city would have worn out roads from activity, but there's 0 cars or bikes and everyone is just walking along like they have nowhere to be. Should convert those roads into footpaths given the amount of casual traffic they get the city planning looks extremely random.

If you liked these places, it means you didn't like Japan, but you prefer typical places for white losers in Asia (Like Pattaya or Vientiane). Because Golden gai and Akihabara are exactly the designated places for them in Japan.

I was in japan for a whole month, and I spent in golden gai maybe 3 hours, a bit more in akihabara buying merch, or visiting niche model car shops lol. Overall a few days max. It was fun, really.

I get why people hate on Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka type of japan, but it's not wrong to enjoy it a bit. Everyone knows what beer is even if they don't really drink it tho.

It's just my suggestion, but you should treasure your own country more, even if you're not the "outgoing" guy. Next time I plan to rent a car and visit countryside shrines for example.

>Not just Bikes
Couldn't you pick something more tolerable? Like a video of a guy shoving a drill bit down his urethra? I just LOVE walking around copypaste concrete architecture rather than residential districts where people have lawns, gardens, etc. Japan has no regulations on city planning they just build randomly which is why so many roads end up unused. You don't need to take my word for it or listen to this Youtube faggot perform fellatio on a mic for 30 minutes, their government outright says they zone randomly. When everything is so dense and rent is so cheap it's not hard to reduce traffic.

I went to Japan to present my research paper. Japan is just another Asian country. Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and parts of Indonesia and Vietnam have already caught up to Japan. The architecture, culture and people are more familiar to us Asians that it is to gaijin. That's why you and I felt the same way. Like we stepped through a looking mirror into a slightly shifted cleaner and more polite Asian country.

I feel like Japan isn't meant to be a tourist country. There's so much to this place that makes me think it should just be left alone. The people seem like they would be perfectly happy without the rest of the world visiting.

>slightly shifted cleaner and more polite Asian country
I disagree. There's something about this place that is very much its own and in the end probably meant to stay that way. That's my impression anyway.

>its another SEAturdie thread trying to insert themselves as east asian
just be proud of your own damn selves ffs. japan is nowhere near like my country, or yours, or even other east asian countries like korea/china for that matter. every country has its own culture/vibes to it.

extreme personal responsibility and autistic honour-bound ethics is practically non-existent in all SEA countries, even mine.

leave your wallet in the middle of KL/BKK/Jakarta and it'll be gone in an hour. do the same in japan and you will see it still lying there even after 1 week (provided its not a touristy/immigrant-infested area). or worst case scenario you'll find it in the nearest police station's lost and found.

you can say it'll be the same for my cunt, but my gov literally had to beat the turdie mindset out of us via totalitarian laws to achieve this same outcome. and all the bangla/CECA jeets + PRC cryptobro chinks don't care about our laws anyways.

for the japanese, it just comes naturally to them. its not the same. they simply have superior hardware. the SEAturdie/chink needs forceful realignment of our software (AKA draconian laws) to achieve the same result.

i accept that my people AKA chinks are fundamentally subhuman that need a benevolent dictator intervention to be a functioning human being. browns should do the same; only through your acceptance of reality will you make it easier for yourselves to change and improve.

LKY knew this and implemented solutions to it accordingly, hence why my country is the way it is today.
