In the border between Tijuana and san Diego, approximately 143,000 cars make a daily crossing back and forth as many mexicans work and study in the US but live in Mexico.

There are exactly two border crossings filtering these cars, san Isidro and Otay.

As you can imagine, this creates traffic.

There are almost twice as many people commuting to Luxembourg from outside to work on a daily basis. There is no border control though

Heh. That got nothing compared to our Malaysia-Singapore border crossing, which until 1998 had only one causeway to cross the strait of Johor. 300k people and 145k vehicles cross each day across the narrow Causeway and a newish bridge. Both countries have cooperated to build an elevated rail link called the RTS Link to alleviate this bottleneck which will start to operate next year. Interestingly, the terminals in each country will have border officers from both countries so that you only need to go through immigrations once.

Another interesting /int/ thing is that the Malaysian terminal is built at a place called Wadi Hana. This is an Arabic name because the area used to be an enclave for Arab migrants.
