I think it would be better if normies worried more about pollution than climate change (persistant pollutants vs greenhouse gases), which is more abstracted from their daily lives and is very entrenched with politics and geopolitics. The effort people waste in going hysterical against fossil fuels could be instead redirected into dephasing plastic for everything in life, researching alternatives like those fungi-based materials, etc. Solving this would be easier and even more benefitial for humanity than replacing oil for wind turbines.
