So were pre-Covid imageboards as shitty and empty as they're now? Was it just a temporary spike in 2020-2023 and then things merely reverted back to being shit? There are only general threads (i.e. discord-tier chats) on this board now.
>>221528933Where did everyone go?
>>221528959Shit like discord, telegram, signal etc. Fucking trannies.
>>221528974But the format isn't like 4chan at all. And the posters from back then would only be older now, I dont get why they would flee to messaging services antithetical to 4chan with an even younger demographic on them. Originally when I started using 4chan, it was moreso like boards passing on the torch. They gave the newfags the essence of their board's culture and then the new users developed it from there. It seems like that system has been abandoned entirely. I blame phoneposting.
>>221529030>the posters from back thenThey all post in generals which are quite literally just chatrooms filled with nonsensical babble.>>221529030>blame phonepostingWhy? I don't think it's any bad, especially for /int/ where people are supoosed to post from abroad.
>>221529100kek why are you complaining about the board quality, but you think phoneposting is fine?
>>221528933This is an early 2000s site that die like 20 years ago zoom-zoom. The original anons were born in the 1980s, and they are all now middle aged with families.
>>221529100I just find that phoneposting lends itself to stream of consciousness style posting. I think this would also explain the decline in greentext storytelling across 4chan, its a dying skill. I often find myself checking 4chan at work or anywhere, making posts or replies with very little thought or quality put into them just because of how easy and accessible it is. Everything surrounding phoneposting just incentivizes low effort posts. Not saying that I hate it, I enjoy shit threads and spur of the moment threads but they shouldnt dominate the catalog. I like long thought out posts because I feel like I get a sense of who people are and can feel the foreigness of their mindset more which is the point of /int/.
>>221529183>decline in greentext storytelling across 4changood point. people don't make long posts on phones
moot hated rolling generals and permastickies. He thought both were against the spirit of this place, too forumesque. If a brave jany wanted to make this place fun again xe'd get rid of em. The first boards where they appeared were /jp/ and /g/: communities infested with absolute knuckle-dragging consumer slave tranny faggots. Now that's all of us, everywhere.
>>221529782moot hated you too
>>221529782This. >>221529161>>221529183The only con of phoneposting I can see is that it's associated with people of color who can't afford PCs. Otherwise it's much, much less worse than generals.
