When did you realize the Eurovision song contest 2026 is already over? Are people in your country aware that Neapolitans all over the world will vote en masse for this guy just because he is from Naples? (Yes, Neapolitans are like the Chinese, they live everywhere in the world)

Sal Da Vinci won the 76th edition of the Festival di Sanremo in 2026 with his song Per sempre sì, a heartfelt ballad celebrating eternal love and marriage. While the song was praised internationally for its emotional sincerity and traditional Italian romanticism, it sparked intense criticism within Italy—particularly from commentators and media figures in the North.

The backlash was not solely about musical taste but quickly evolved into a broader cultural and regional debate. Many critics, especially from Northern media outlets, dismissed the song as outdated, overly sentimental, and emblematic of what they view as lowbrow Neapolitan "wedding music."

The most controversial moment came from Aldo Cazzullo, a deputy editor at Corriere della Sera, one of Italy’s most respected newspapers. In a column responding to readers, Cazzullo described Per sempre sì as "the worst song in the festival's history" and suggested it could serve as "the soundtrack to a Camorra wedding"—a direct reference to the Naples-based mafia.

When France got on stage with that awful operashit, they will win the juror votes
>>
I'm not following the Eurovision but ofc this song will probably land somewhere around 15th on the charts, it's not going to win anything…

ACKSHUALLY Sal Da Vinci won Sanremo 2026 but he didn't come 1st in every voting category and most notably he DID NOT WIN the televote (that's the public vote from home). Sanremo's voting system combines 3 components, each weighted differently:
- Televote (34%)
- Press, TV and Web Jury (33%)
- Radio Jury (33%)

On the final night the televote was won by Sayf with 26.4% of the vote while Sal Da Vinci came in at 23.6%. However once the votes from all the juries and the televote accumulated over the previous nights were added together, Sal Da Vinci came out on top with 22.2% overall, edging out Sayf (21.9%) by a razor-thin margin of just 0.3%. So Sal Da Vinci's win wasn't decided by the televote alone, it came down to the balance between the public vote and the juries which handed him a very narrow victory.

we won't win. i'll be happy if we can get our yearly top 10 placement, but i'm afraid we might end up outside of the top 10 for the first time in ages. the balkans and ukraine will probably get a lot of points and kick us out.

whatever the case, i hope finland wins.

maybe not as bad as the french but in the northern part it's a similar attitude
most new york italians were from the south
