If North Germans are linguistically closer to the English, Central Germans are linguistically closer to the Dutch and South Germans are linguistically closer to Austrians, then what actually defines a German?Shouldn't German just be apart of any ethnic group that speaks Germanic? Would it be wrong to say Icelanders are German?
