One of the big flaws being that should you be the victim of a home invasion or assault, should you go even the slightest degree 'too far' in defending yourself (as one under adrenal stress tends to do) you will most likely wind up in prison rather than the crook who knows the laws. Policing is also inconsistent and clearly has double-standards.
