Suspicious amounts of bots and influencers pushing rightwing rhetoric with well made videos and politically correct points are flooding my fb feed. poonisians usually aren’t this slick. This can’t be an organic effort.
I think poonisia is finally developing a deep state raison d'état and becoming a non meme country. Promising stuff.

Look at this shit! Someone wrote this for him. Can’t believe this came out of his egghead. I swear I have seen dozens of such videos just this week.
Imma go visit home (sfax) next summer. I am quite busy with life now. And, even though I know it’s right I want nothing to do with this racism shit anymore. I paid my dues and done my years as part of online nationalist tunisian keyboard warriors. Actually, I was one of the first ones who set the ball rolling. I really did a lot. I can rest now and believe in the holy order of KAVS SAVED ( he really saved) and the next generation.
Going forward i see myself in Club Africain, now it’s our personal comeback and rise to the top, kaliyuga ended.

I think of the body as a computer, and just like a computer, anything could go wrong with it.
Being trans is like getting the wrong OS hard-coded on it, so instead of taking the extremely difficult route of changing the software, you instead change the hardware.

I've seen a study of brain scans of trans and cis people, and while trans people were far closer to their original sex than the opposite sex, they still formed their own cluster slightly away and towards the opposite sex, so there really is something going on in their heads, and they're not just doing this for attention (even if there ARE some people who do pretend to be trans for attention, like non-binary people).

it's your own middle eastern people always complaining about not understanding us even when talking plain arabic though, ya 7imar
>>
>>221622192
the issue with darija is not berber or french words. those are very small, berber words are restricted to agricultural words, french words are mostly for modern technological concepts.

the issue is mostly the archaic words that aren't common in the east. or evolved to mean slightly different things.

like
شرجم
براد
جغمة
علاش
ايمتا
توحش
خايب
زوين
هدرة
صافي
ساليت
والو
بنين
قرعة
مسوس
الصهد
حانوت

all of them are arabic words but you probably wouldn't understand a lot of them because they aren't common in the east or they have a slightly different word there.

for example if i say براد you might assume i mean fridge but here it means teapot. the etymology is purely arabic. but the meaning differs.

or if i say توحشتك you might be confused but it means "I missed you".
>>
>>221622638
i think جغمة is also used in the arabian peninsula.

but i have never heard a saudi say حانوت or صهد
>>
>>221622614
well seems like they started understanding better in the recent years.
not sure why. maybe the internet.
>>
>>221622812
i watched a middle eastern in canada complaining about dubbing of games in arabic and how different the dialects are all over mena, and in the video he summarized all north african dialects as just having french words.
They really just lack the IQ to understand words from context and words roots
>>
>>221622961
>muh french words
i hate this cope. also the berber words cope. and desu i blame some maghrebi berberists who kept overblowing the influence of other languages on maghrebi dialects. some even pushing insane claims like the languages being a "hybrid" almost making it sound like maghrebi dialects are pidgin languages.
the influence of other languages combined is not even more than 15% of the vocab and a few proverbs. less than 5% of you exclude berber words.. and it's not spread evenly.
>>
>>221622432
That's not the point i was making, it's just that levanteezis dont use such vocabulary nearly as much unless you're dyslexic and trying to say khaleeji is close to nafri or smth
>>
>>221622638
My guesses, based on our own dialects:
>شرجم
[No clue]
>براد
Coldness / hail / freezer
>جغمة
A sip of a drink
>علاش
Why
>ايمتا
When
>توحش
Missing someone / feels terrible
>خايب
Failure
>زوين
[No clue]
>هدرة
Not ours, but I think it means yapping / guess
>صافي
Pure / net / cumulative
>ساليت
[No clue]
>والو
Even if
>بنين
Boys
>قرعة
Ballot / pumpkin
>مسوس
Tooth decay
>الصهد
[No clue]
>حانوت

>>
>>221622638
We also say حامي for hot

Another issue how the words have morphed into the berber every vowel is a سكون

>>

>We also say حامي for hot
Same here

>>
>>221623123

>شرجم
it's an old arabic word that was borrowed from persian. it was mostly common in andalus and maghreb.
>براد
means teapot
>علاش
from على أي شي means why
>ايمتا
when
>توحش
to miss someone
>خايب
from خائب but means ugly or bad
>هدرة
yeah it's from هدر originally meant yapping but evolved to means "speech" or "talk" in general. that's the verb used in the maghreb to say تكلم
>صافي
it's from pure yes, but means "alright" or "okay" in morocco.
>ساليت
it means "finnish" i think it comes from the verb سلى يسلي
>والو
it means nothing
>بنين
means delicious.
this is a weird one but it comes from بنة بنان which means aroma or odour that is typically pleasant.
>قرعة
means bottle (i believed came from the shape looking like a zucchini/pumpkin, or maybe because people used a similar plant to make bottles)
>مسوس
means tasteless or food without salt or sugar
>الصهد
from صَهَدَ which means to singe or to scorch. but it means "hot weather" here. only used for weather.
>حانوت
means shop or store. apparently borrowed form arameic ḥānūṯā.
>>
>>221623123
you got 5 out of 17
>>
>>221623155
berber phonology influenced darija yeah. so a lot of short vowels got reduced to a schwa sound. and long vowels became short.
but northern dialects still preserve more vowels.

but in written form it shouldn't be a problem.
>>
>>221623175

>>
>>221623463
I can count on two hands the berber words we use every day in atlantic hills dareeja aka the majority of dareeja speakers in morocco
ساروت
كارم (from إكرم/يكرم)
تمارة
غوات
براني
The contribution is way too overblown and marginal
>>
>>221622310
>الله يا الحبيب، أرسول الله. شعاندو هذا؟ شني كيصحاب راسو؟ أمشي أمشي عندي نطرّش التين تيماك،
>>
>>221623618
Btw aside from ساروت, every other word has a 1:1 interchangeable arabic root one that is as used or sometimes more used depending on the region
كارم = يابس
غوات = تصياح
التمارة = العيا، التكرفيس (might be berber idk)
And nvm براني is actually just arabic
>>
>>221623393
>>221623407
Which means that's 5 out of 17 you thought we didn't know. Or 6 out of 18 if you include حامي >>221623155, a full one third.
Familiarity comes from friction. We know what زامل >>221623447 means because of that كيكة أحمد الزامل trend from a few years back.
You can't just give up and say "mashriqis don't understand us, there's no point in trying". Stop falling for the meme.

Do you think small identities (jebli, dokali, cherkaoui etc and even the larger denominations) will preserve their integrity in the next few generations ? I feel like we're heading towards a bleak future where everyone is the same casa-rabat-agadir-marrakech axis abomination of zellij ksksou bstila
Even الطرب is gonna die with boomers

Every country has their own version. Normal people don't take that shit seriously.
>>
>>221624073
probably not. we are heading towards a pan-moroccan identity. heck i have even seen a zlayji riffi. it's over.

Why would that be surprising, our dareeja developed very independently from berber
I wonder if tunisian dareeja doesn't have a straight up punic origin(not just influence) that could explain this

the maghrebi dialects (especially morocco and algeria) are legitimately too far removed from the mashriqi cluster for the inter-mashriqi comparison to make sense, yes exposure helps but that's not the full picture, a saudi can just naturally understand an egyptian or syrian without any exposure required, you'd miss a few words that you can guess from context because you understand 95% of what's being said
do you think maghrebis want to be using fusha or a mashriqi dialect when interacting with you? it's becuase using our own leads to too much frustration and little comprehension, which the average person won't care enough to put up with
>>
>>221624546
It's literally just the consonant clusters you guys have that make maghrebi dialects seem hard to mashrigis. Enough exposure to the consonant patterns and some vocabulary can go a long way
>>
>>221624618
so you understand algerians and moroccans when they aren't altering their speech with you?
although knowing french helps, too
>>
>>221624546
It doesn't have to be either full maghrebi or full fus'ha.
Mix it up. Use words from other dialects too.
>>
is algeria easy for tourism? I want to see cool roman ruins and spend money
>>
>>221624658
The little exposure I've had with nafris here has helped me understand them better yes but not enough for full comprehension of speech. Just saying it's not an insurmountable gulf

this is also of arabic etymology and common in levnatine and hijazi dialects with a slightly different meaning.

anyway 70% of those words i have never used in my life.
and many of them are actually of arabic etymology.
>>
>>221624717
certainly not, but as someone who had no understanding of mashriqis growing up and only knowing algerian darja, learned fusha and had some exposure to egyptian media then could understand all mashriqis easily, the disparity between these mashriqi dialects is much less than between them and maghribi ones, which was my point to the saudi about the comparison not making sense
>>
>>221624735
I have a hard time believing it's 200 words actually used on a daily basis with control for regional variants and words that are inrerchangeable with an arabic equivalent understood by everyone

tell me when you can form a single sentence with those words.

the gerbouzification of darija is a failed project that gerbouzes latch to when they realize their berberization project will not sell because no one understands them or is interested in learning their language.

I agree with maghrebis having an easier time of it and I really believe it stems from the insane (to us) consonant clusters and short vowels you guys have.

anything but straight up using mashriqi dialects which is the criengiest thing in the world

>I don't think you even understand english, charreg means to tear apart
yes. and it comes from شرج
not my fault that you don't know arabic lol.
انْشَرَجَ : انشقَّ قسْمين

شَرَّجَ الثوبَ: خاطَهُ خياطةً متباعدةً
الشَّرِيجُ إِحدى فِلقتي العُود بعد أَن يُشقَّ.
شريج : مثيل، شبيه. 2- شريج : إحدى فلقتي العود المشقوق. 3- شريج : «قوس شريج» من شقة.

it does. scroll to the section about maltese
>Compare to Moroccan Arabic ترمة (tarma, “ass, buttocks”) and Tunisian Arabic ترمة (tirma, “ass, buttocks”). The term possibly traces back to an old dialect word "ṯulma", meaning breach, hole, gap.

ثُلْمَةُ الحائِطِ : الشَّقُّ، الشَّرْخُ
ثَلَمَ الحائِطَ : أَحْدَثَ فِيهِ شَقّاً أَوْ شَرْخاً
ثَلِمَ الحائِطُ : أُحْدِثَ فيهِ شَقٌّ، ثُلْمَةٌ
ثَلِمَ الشيءُ ثَلِمَ ثَلَماً: صارت فيه ثُلْمَة

semantic shift
>>
>>221626746
okay, the case for bash is interesting so i will go on a long rant. feel free to ignore.

باش comes from باي شي / بشي
it originally meant "with what?" or "by mean of what" in those dialects.
to say
باش فتحتي الباب؟
it means "with what thing did you open the door?"

باش كتبتي؟
with what thing did you write?

باش ضربتيه؟
with what thing did you hit him?

this is the original meaning and it still means that to this day. this meaning survives.

the meaning later morphed from a quetion of "with what thing?" or "by mean of what?" to mean "thing with which" or "thing my mean of"

جيت المفتاح باش نفتح الباب
i brought the key "thing with which" (by mean of) i open the door.

جبت القلم باش نكتب

جبت هراوة باش نضربو.

الخ

how does the meaning shift?
this is a common thing in linguistics.

it starts as a question
باش فتحتي الباب؟
With what did you open the door?

then you move to an indirect question:
ماعرفتش باش فتحت الباب
I don't know with what you opened the door?

then you move to a relative clause
وريلي المفتاح باش فتحتي الباب
>Show me the key with what (with which) you opened the door.

your brain here has entirely reanalyzed the phrase and it no longer asks a question, it simply points backward to "the key."
the meaning shifts to
show me the key "with which" or "by means of" you opened the door.

the meaning shifted from "with what" to an answer "by mean of"

and that's how you get the second usages of "to" or "by mean of"

this happened in all languages
in english the word "who" and "which" were originally strictly questions.
If an anglo-saxon wanted to say "the man who is tall," they used a completely different relative particle (usually þe).
It wasn't until Middle English that speakers started using the question words who and which to link sentences, exactly like باش.

this also happened in classical arabic. originally ما was strictly a question word. eg ما تريد؟ but later developed to link sentences answering the question "أفعل ما أريد".
>>
>>221627327
this is called "interrogative-to-subordinator shift" or "Interrogative-to-relative grammaticalization"

"Interrogative-to-relative grammaticalization is a linguistic pathway where words originally used to ask questions (interrogatives) evolve into markers that introduce relative clauses"
