Does your country support Argentina or Britain's claim to the Falklands?
>redBased>non-redgoy
>blueBased>non-bluebrown
It's not Falkands, it's Islas Malvinas.
>>221599430> obsessing over two useless rocks in the sea
A referendum on political status was held in the Falkland Islands on 10–11 March 2013. The Falkland Islanders were asked whether or not they supported the continuation of their status as an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom in view of Argentina's call for negotiations on the islands' sovereignty. On a turnout of 92%, 99.8% voted to remain a British territory, with only three votes against. Also Argentina is poor
>>221599430Map of white people ( blue ) and brown people ( red )Also theres no way we dont support their claim lmao
>>221599786We don't officially support it, we only support de facto. Although, Trump has said he might support Argentina as punishment for Britain not helping in Iran.
>>221599430Argentina has a point. The islands belonged to Argentina and the first people born there that we know of were Argentinian citizens, a family that was forced to flee after their settlement was violently destroyed by an American crew that didn't want to follow a local rule against over-hunting seals. After this case the British took over based on claims from a time the islands were French. The French were the first to find and occupy the islands when they were empty, so the French were the first legitimate owners. They gave them the name Îles Malouines. The French passed the ownership of the islands to Spain. They managed the islands from the "la Plata" colony based in Buenos Aires. The islands were regularly used by colonists for fishing and hunting. Spain was invaded by Napoleon, who set a puppet regime there. The colonists refused to recognize the authority of the puppet government and declared self-rule. The islands were abandoned. The "la Plata" independent country based in Buenos Aires recovered the islands they used to manage. They put a German guy named Luis Vernet in charge and he brought his Argentinean wife to create a settlement and administer the region. At some point the "la Plata" country changed their official name to República Argentina, which is simply Latin for "la Plata."
>>221599817Trump says a lot of things, only to regret them later. And then he digs his grave even deeper. China has taken over the US role as the preeminent diplomatic power. The recent Trump visit to China was made to look like a vassal state supplicating to the Chinese Emperor. A humiliation to Trump, a person who is very sensitive to such slights. He must be fuming and seething badly right now, knowing he can't do anything.
>>221599430If all the red countries united we could beat the non-red easily
>>221599672A referendum was held in the Donbass and most people said they wanted to be part of Russia.

>>221599786wtf Turkey is WHITE NOW?!?!
>>221601209But in this case Argies are the invasors anon
>>221599430The US, Spain, France, and Argentina also occupied the islands in the past.Trump should take the Falklands and expel Chaina fishing
>>221601273Read this >>221601140>Matilde "Malvina" Vernet y Saez, was born in Puerto Soledad, on 5 February 1830. She is the first birth ever registered in the Malvinas islands.>Malvina is not the only descendant of Argentinians born before 1833, as there were other children born under the Argentinian flag.
>>221599430What's the claim being made?>They're close to us therefore we NEED to have itthirdie mentality
>>221599672>We reject the British invocation of the principle of the free determination of peoples. The current inhabitants of the Malvinas Islands have never been recognized as a "people" by the United Nations. It is unacceptable for the island inhabitants to become arbiters of a territorial dispute in which their own country, as an implanted population, is a party. For this reason, the so-called "referendum" of 2013 is also invalid.
Can we have the falklands?
>>221601505Argentinians are an implanted population while Falklanders are indigenous
>>221601555>Falklanders are indigenousThe first registered births in the islands are of Argentinean citizens, therefore as far as we known, Argentineans are literally indigenous to the Malvinas/Falkland islands
>>221601140Following that logic, Uruguay should be ours since it's first city was build by the Portuguese, yet argensimios helped them fighting against us, so fuck them. Las Falkland islands son britânicas.
>>221599430I support Argentina obviously. How did they even lose to Britain over this?
>>221599430it was empty and colonized by britseveryone there is britisheveryone there wants to remain part of britian argentina wants to force them to have shittier living conditions for no reason? why? it doesn't even have anything there and it's not even strategic

>>221601140>babble over shit from 200 years ago(Most) Europeans are smart enough to not do this anymore because otherwise Germany would currently be chimping out over reclaiming Pomerania and Silesia while Italy would be chimping over Nice and Greece would be chimping out about Istanbul etc etc...The actual, alive, people presently living there don't wanna be Argentinean, simple as that
Do people in Argentina actually care about them? It's not going to make their country or life any better.
>>221601548Yes
>>221603257In South America we aren't used to these blatant territorial take overs, even before Europeans finally decided to stop regularly slaughtering each other we already had a long tradition of diplomacy and respect. So if an aggressive country comes stealing territory out of nowhere a grudge will be held. Notice how the two major territorial disputes in our continent originate from the British Empire. They used to simply disregard other countries and do whatever they wanted. They tried to take control over the la Plata colony 2 times
>>221603598>doesn't realize he is the colonizer
>>221603643Thank you for demonstrating my argument. This is how the British view Latin American countries -- actual countries with government, territory and laws -- as if we were stateless bands of nomads like indigenous tribes. Our countries couldn't have a territorial dispute with natives because they didn't even have the concept of "territory." Maybe this argument could work for Incas and Aztecs but in Brazil or Argentina no native country was invaded because there wasn't one

>>221603969>>221601643>>221601140>daughter of luis vernetLmao Even setting aside how absurd the argument is “one or two workers, some not even Argentine, brought to the islands under false pretences and who, by Argentine naval records, repeatedly begged to be taken back to the mainland way before 1833, may have had a child there, therefore Argentines are the indigenous people and Kelpers who arrived there literally a year later are evil (and who absorbed the remaining settlers that didn't go back to the mainland btw) colonial settlers”, this is literally Luis Vernet’s daughter. As in, the same conman Vernet who started the whole dispute by misleading both the Argentine and British governments as to what the fuck he was doing and who he was in the service of, and then not paying anybody he fraudulently brought there.
>>221604197>one or two workers, some not even Argentine, brought to the islands under false pretencesI did more reading and apparently the Vernets brought other families there>may have had a child thereIt's official though. The first registered child born in the islands was an Argentinean citizen, and she wasn't even the only one. I always found this redditesque argument that the british are le indigenous cringe but today I found out that its totally wrong too
Why are those islands so important to the British? Their only profit comes from fishing licenses; they only use them as a military base.In the past, they offered us the islands, but on the condition that we allow them to exploit resources for 99 years.
>>221604531Why didn't your government take this proposal?
>>221604551Argensimians wanted a shorter lease. On the other end, the islanders and many in the mainland uk opposed it.
>>221604531The main reason they are important is that you tried to take them by force. The islands themselves want to be british, but before your war the British government didn't really care that much.
>>221603598>In South America we aren't used to these blatant territorial take overs, even before Europeans finally decided to stop regularly slaughtering each other we already had a long tradition of diplomacy and respect. You massacred 2/3 of Paraguayan males over some chunks of land lolSee>>221603228>n still do the crocodile tears shit "booboo we wuz colonised we can do no wrong becuz we victims of dah white man!"
>>221604531>Why are those islands so important to the British?>Argentinean shocked by concept of country defending its citizens and territory as a matter of principleThe hilarity of the entire dispute is that your Military Junta is the reason why the British even care. All you had to do was *not* fucking invade the islands by force, but they fucking did it, so now no self-respecting Briton will ever be caught dead advocating for a transfer to Argentina because nobody wants to be seen as the traitor bitchboy who sold out his countrymen to armed thugs. The UK gave us and New Zealand a shitton of Islands for free lmao (Norfolk, Christmas Island, Cook Islands, Nauru, Vanuatu, etc...), they even gave Newfoundland to Canada despite Newfoundland not wanting to be part of Canada. All you had to do was sit and wait for it, but oh no that macho man "lets take it by force!" grugg idea got the better of you and fucked it
>>221603973>This has already been showed to be false ITT. The first documented birth in the islands is argentineanThis was 65 years after the Brits had settled Port Egmont>>221604531Because we've lived there longer than anyone else combined and live there now. >>221604813You probably made some diplomatic noises about it since the UK doesn't particularly care about these announcements and the Argentinians will give you concessions for it. Similar thing with countries making announcements about Taiwan to appease China -- the actually reality of how they'd act if something happened is very different
