So we all know that GDP is a flawed and shit tier measurement of a country's success, and GDP per capita doesn't fix that.
PPP only makes these problems even worse and is basically a completely worthless metric.

What is a GOOD measurement?

Is "median wealth" a good one?

No it's not.

Median PPP adjusted income is the best metric

It should be based on median penis size

GDP per capital actually is a good measurement of a country's success and it only breaks down when you start comparing broadly equal societies on a more minute basis, but in terms of separating "first world" from "third" then GDP works perfectly.

The average intelligence of the population. Intelligent people are not usually just born. They have to be made with a good education, food, and a stable home life. Well educated countries usually are the best to live in.
>>
>>221602281
honestly, not a terrible metric, but even that can be gamed in similar ways to GDP

life in taiwan is NOT better than life in the denmark or the netherlands

they simply game the IQ numbers
>>
>>221599778
Nominal GDP. There's no good measurement, but that one is the most honest.
>>
>>221602503
you know as well as I do that life in mississippi is NOT better than life in london

it's total bullshit, an absolutely meaningless measurement. who the fuck knows what it actually means

You have to use something like HDI, which is very subjective to measure but actually looks at the availability of important things like infrastructure, hospitals, education outcomes etc.

Any metric that only looks at numbers is going to be exploitable.
You could have a country with gigantic GDP, but it's got a trillion people -which is hidden by GDP.
Or it has 1 million people in poverty and 1 guy who owns all the money - which is hidden by GDP per capita.
Or everyone equally has $1 billion each except bread costs $1million - which is still hidden by GDP per Capita with GINI coefficient
Or everyone is equally a millionaire and goods are cheap, except there are no roads or advanced medical treatment and people get arrested for not giving handjobs to refugees and people feel if they don't get constant meth supplies they'll promptly kill themselves because they're so miserable.

So you have to measure physical infrastructure (eghousing availability), objective life outcomes (eg lifespan, IQ scores) and subjective life outcomes (eg suicide rates and self-reported happiness levels).
All this but also PPP with Gini.

There isn't a universal measurement

GDP isn't accurate because it doesn't count how many people are in the country
GDP per capita doesn't count the cost of living
PPP or BigMacs per salary don't take into account prices of something more complicated than a potato

this one is a good one for me.
it accounts for stuff like the arabs being filthy rich but having a legion of poor workers under them.

Economics is a dark art and best ignored completely when it comes to measuring how much of a shithole a country is.
Life expectancy and infant mortality rates on the other hand are both well recorded, objective measures of how much of a shithole a country is. If lots of people are dying young then your country is a terrible place to live.

Good measurements:
>median wage adjusted to cost of living
>home ownership rate
>unemployment rate
>immigration rate
>marriage and birth rates
