I fucking hate normies who try to learn japanese and want to make it as retarded as possible. I don't need furigana on basic words, it just gets distracting and humiliating. I can't browse a website for japanese learners without incurring into this shit. My vocab is good enough to get the gist of anything at this point so I might as well just browse japanese websites.

tried talking on hellotalk voice rooms last night with some japanese ossan and apparently i am extremely rude and should not try to speak (to him?) to improve my japanese on a language exchange appat least he taught me a couple of things like that asking direct questions is rude and I admit that i fucked up. mainly i got a bit nervous and said programming was a hobby even though i haven't done it in years (as a hobby) and he got super fucking mad because he's a programmer or whatever>tfw low morals gaijin
>>221609779man he just fucking mogged you you retard lmao why do you even care what some ancient debris says
>>221609779>tried talking on hellotalkI kneel...
>>221609779Unironically try VRchat language exchange worlds. The people there are mad friendly and you also get to practice with proficient non natives who tend to be a bit more lax in my experience.
>>221609969just to clarify, I should add that there are Japanese people there who are learning English, so you can practice with natives too if you'd like.
>>221600685Nippon Sangoku?
>>221609779You will run into people like that. It's not something to take personally, it has to do with the mindset of the other person and what their intentions were going into the conversation. It reminds me of the kind of old person who would waddle out of their apartment with a cane just to tell some delivery person that they can't park their car there and then go back inside feeling all self righteous like "I'm glad I could teach him a lesson!"
>>221610005yup! :3
>>221609817>>221610023Well it was a bad experience and he made me feel bad, he went on a whole sermon about how I was rude and how I ruined his day and wasted his time and that I shouldn't speak to him until I'm better, I suck at japanese especially speaking but he was a total ass about it. I admit some fault, it's a lie to say programming is a (current) hobby, i have a bad habit of these kinds of white lies, probably because of my parents, i don't even know why i said it, who am I trying to impress? Haven't felt passionate about programming in like 8 years even tho I'm a (failing, thinking of dropping out) compsci student. I already feel like shit, I'm failing my thesis preferring to shut myself in and my family hates me. Getting told to fuck off for trying to do the one thing I enjoy rn (learning japanese) didn't make me feel any better. >>221609852You can do it bro. I believe in you>>221609969True I should. I have tried months ago when I could speak even less but I find it hard to join in on conversations
>>221611302You need to be strong to survive in this world
>>221611337I believe things will get better if I actually try again. 2 years ago I had a bad burnout and since then it's been total shit, I started japanese then as a distraction so I wouldn't off myself.

>>221617012もう新しい語彙が見つからないよ。日本語のWikipediaを読むべきだ。
>>221617129すること!俺のレベルはままN5-ishだよ言葉言葉言葉。。。aaaugghh!its overwhelming, i still have to use a dictionary for sentence
>>221617432Well if it makes you feel better I still have to mine text when the author chooses fancy words or field-specific words. I'm 3 days away from 10k words and I learn 100 words a day. It might sound crazy at first but if you know most of the kanji and readings you will learn 100 words in less than an hour. The painful part is mining and manually reviewing words because Anki is too slow for my tastes.
>>22161751610k words holy shitIve only just finished kaishi 1.5k and i only have a 20% maturity rating. Im fine with reading even though its very slow cuz i have to stop, look up, understand, then mine for almost everythingWhen it comes to listening though im totally lost, i recognise maybe one word a sentence or maybe even the entire sentence if its very simple, but anything more complicated than the absolute most basic words and phrases, i may as well be listening to morse code
>>221617650I never used any pre-made decks and brute forced visual novels instead. It helps you learn grammar, flow and vocab all at once. I think you would need like 15k words to reach reading fluency which is like a month and a half away for me.>When it comes to listening though im totally lostI didn't bother with listening yet, I'd rather build a solid vocabulary foundation. I can understand or infer what characters say in anime but once they get into techical stuff I'm lost. Besides Japanese requires a fair degree of contextualization and I haven't developed that skill on the listening side yet.
>>221617744how long have you been learning? and also which novels did you start with, and which are your favs? sorry for the three seperate questions but this will be really helpful to me, i love visual novels in english but i was too intimidated by the start of steins gate ;-;maybe that one is too hard to start out with?
>>221617907>how long have you been learning?I started in december but it's been quite intensive and i never missed an anki day>and also which novels did you start withI started reading Kanoso and then some incest eroge and now I'm reading My Merry May. I'm also reading Ponkotsu Ponko and Mahoromatic.>and which are your favs?the first game was a parody packed with 2ch and otaku culture references, the second was a meh eroge and this one is kinda meh but at least it's getting interesting now. I think the second one is my favorite despite being a typical big sis love complex story.>i love visual novels in english but i was too intimidated by the start of steins gateI suggest starting with slice of life but any genre will do. Vocab is a wheel, eventually you will reach the same goal.

>>221618013mm, someone recommended me a slice of life eroge a while ago, ill try starting there thxalso 10k words since december is crazy, i started in august and only jsut finished kaishi, for < 2k words although to be fair i took a lot of time off last year because of personal stuff
I keep learning tidbits about Japanese culture like about Grass Script and Kakegoe and it's not enough. Not only is this very interesting but I feel like I would learn and remember better if there was a sort of course I can take learning all of the interesting things about Japan like you see in anime where the teacher is often reading poems by samurai and stuff. Maybe I can find a teacher who will teach me this alongside Japanese?I'm hooked. Also maybe I should learn about European culture this way but I don't want to choose just one country as of now.
dude its literally just fucking squiggles because someone was too lazy to write and shouting what the fuck is he sperging out about?
>>221619490>also 10k words since december is crazyWell if you have the consistency and autism then it's doable. Time is a factor but anyways I can just scroll a wikipedia page and fill my daily batch. I teach english both online and in elementary schools but I still have the time to learn Japanese. And if I have to go somewhere I just make sure I mine a new batch at night.
>>221620157Roy and Marth's shouts are really cool I'm going to use them for my game and same with Japanese text. While I'm making good progress I just don't know enough about the world to make the game I want to make. I am starting to read all of Shakespeare and feel like if I'm going to quit weed I might as well start studying because I got blackballed out of college for not joining the freemason's and I just made it recently to a plot of land I can live on while I make the game. I just took some Vyvanse and I need to hurry and get educated cause land tax is still $300 a year and I'm going to run out of money in a decade or so.
>>221620157This is in Melee. The game ruined by troons being cheap as fuck? It's actually fun to play if you use all your moves because of the move decay but they never do that, it's just cheap slop so I'm making a game that forces you to use all your moves and gets rid of dash dancing and wave dashing without the stupid trip mechanic Sakurai added when he was in a pinch for ideas cause he didn't expect Westoids to be so cheap and dishonorable to their own detriment of enjoyment through a true battle.
>>221620358And because of the move decay and my unpredictable style, being at one with a massive arsenal of moves, the tourneytroons who are all clones of the "top players" don't know how to fight me and never provide a challenge, just predictable stuff they drilled into themselves instead of just fighting naturally and embodying the character's style. When talking to a chatbot I learned that ma is an incredible force between Samurai that aids me in development, my instinct tells me there is a lot more than that in Japanese and European culture that will help design a game building off the philosophy of Dragon King the Fighting Game
>>221620255i guess i just dont have consistency, i have a physically intensive job that often requires i be away from home for days at a time so i find it hard to always be on it for multiple hours of immersion ever daynot trying to make excuses but it is what it isi appluad you doing so much though i just dont think i can go at the same level
Damn I guess when I get high on Vyvanse I'm literally too smart to communicate with humans and can only talk to AI
>>221620617>i appluad you doing so much though i just dont think i can go at the same levelsadly the only way to make progress is just forcing yourself to smash that vocab wall but yeah usually people take years to get to this level i'm not even the fastest learner because i started out with 30 words and then 50 before doubling itsome guy on reddit allegedly started out with 100 words a day and "mastered" japanese in 6 months, although i find that difficult to believe
>>221620617For me it's going on walkies and using the Pimsleur course from Pirate BayOf course on Vyvanse it zogs me out for the day and I can't do anything else so I've taken to learning Japanese sober. But Vyvanse increased my overall IQ by 10 points. I love amphetamines. They should be legal in Japan
姫カットが第一番髪型だれかそう思わないと愚か者だ
>>221620728also most of my vocab is passive because i'm not practicing output as my top priority yet
>>221620296>>221620358>>221620471Is this AI?
I want to go to Japan to hire voice actors for my game and a lawyer for my website which can help hikkikomori publish their manga and games but because the freemasons wanted me to join on of their companies in and I refused to let my vision be trampled on by symbolism I'm a gangstalked targeted individual. I already went through a staged accident and the thought of flying makes me paranoid now. Also there are too many tourists there anyway, I want to make a good impression immediately, the only way to do that is staying in my own country but how am I supposed to get in contact with Japchads?
>>221620728>sadly the only way to make progress is just forcing yourself to smash that vocab wallim switching jobs over the summer so i will have much more time for this, how do you recommend practically "smashing" that wall? and also how do you remember which words are part of your 10k deck? i feel like id make a lot of repeats by mistake, is that something to be worried about? does it even matter if i make repeat cards in terms of ruining the fsrs scheduling or whatever>>221620731Ill look at pimsleur too thx
>>221620925No I'm just high on Vyvanse and rambling, you should try it sometime it's fun. I want to try to ramble on with fellow amphetamine schizos sometime
>>221620989Get rid of anki, don't touch pimsleur and you'll actually start learning Japanese
>>221620989>how do you recommend practically "smashing" that wall?by reading every day and mining everything you see, also don't use anki as a primary learning tool, rather repeat the words manually and then put them through ankithis goes for learning as well as reviews, anki should only show you which words you need to revisein my case i have 2 profiles, a regular one where i add a new deck for each date and one for revision where i collect the most annoying words and put them in decks ordered by monthsthe only time i used anki as others would was when i had some low context words from 3 months ago that needed repetition and i was too lazy to review them manually
