So, for example, Thailand is much further along on EV adoption and charging stations but ICE and hybrid autos dominate Japanese cities. Cash is also still widely used in Japan while Thailand has moved more fully to QR code/cashless. Internet coverage also seems more comprehensive and faster in Thailand, but overall Japan is much more complete in its development. Everything seems well-maintained and works for its people, very walkable and safe, while Thailand is more uneven, more disparity. Some parts of Thailand might look like 2020s modern while others are still quite under-developed and rural. But in Japan, everywhere (at least in Tokyo) feels at least late 90s/early 2000s developed.
