Since our own internet contents like 2ch all died, X and YouTube are now the two major content platforms in Japan. Things were definitely more peaceful back in the day. But that changed after Elon introduced auto translation to X. We started to realize foreigners only post cancerous tweets. Because of this, hate speech against brown people (SEAs, Indians, Latinos, Muslims) became common. This has created a conflict between Japanese people who hate racism and racist Japanese (now they are majority, in fact, they have won elections).

The youth are probably mostly on tiktok or whatever now, since Ylilauta has changed the rules so much (you now need to create an account and the account needs to be a week old before you can post) so only the most degen addicts are left there. For special interests traditional forums are still around and kicking. On youtube you can find almost any content you want. But usually there is only room for one creator in one specific field. On english youtube there are dozens of big creators who do the same thing and they can do collabs and stuff but the finnish market isn't big enough to support such.
