What are island chinamen like?

Are they rude?
>>

it's literally based on real life events. they replaced Jan Joosten with a brit so it would appeal more to the anglo audience
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Joosten_van_Lodensteijn#Life_in_Japan
literally the plot of the tv show
>>
>>221636061
small correction, adams seems to be have been there as well so scrap
>they replaced Jan Joosten with a brit
but does the last samurai trigger you as well?
>>
>>221635563
>the english speak english
>japs speak japanese
>portugese speak english with a heavy accent
>english characters have to pretend they don't understand it and need a portuguese translator
my autism could not deal with this, i stopped after the first episode
>>
>le western guy gets involved in feudal Japanese intrigue and wars
Wow, how original
>>
>>221636061
it only has a vague resemblance to the real story you delusional white retard. 99% of it is white incels dreaming about white power fantasy scenarios
>>
>>221635577
It was at the time. The Japanese had no real way to directly fight against Portuguese warships and weaponry but Portugal was not a colonizing force in Japan like the show tries to portray
>>
>>221635623
why is the high morals nihonjeet taking up space with a babyless stroller?
>>
>>221636218
Aside from the romance plot line it's akshually pretty accurate. You need to calm down, Chang.

Depends where you are. Some will be really helpful, most are whatever, a few will act like they wish you would just leave their country.

The drama is based on 16th-century events in Japan, and each character is based on a real person from that era.
Therefore, it is inappropriate to call it a fantasy.
>>
>>221636202
you forgot the Dutch speaking english. you'd have expected adams to have known Dutch if he was there on a Dutch ship with a Dutch crew
>>
>>221635563
>>221636218
The guy doesn't accomplish anything, Toranaga just keeps him around as an unpredictable element
>>

More of a coffin pose really

It's a highly fictionalized story based on an actual historical account. William Adams was a real Englishman living in Japan. But the story is so heavily fictionalized that even the original author changed the names. For example in the show three of the five regency council members are Japanese Catholics. But in real life none of the regency council members were Japanese Catholics. There are no black actors in Shōgun even though we know from oral accounts that the Chinese and Japanese regularly joked that a Portuguese never travels 100 feet without his black servants following along behind him. The number of historical inaccuracies is very high. But the vast majority of audiences don't know that.

>mfw
next you'll tell me the portuguese didn't actually speak english
>>
>>221635563
Truly ridiculous yes
>>
>>221636061
Not really
Yes there were wypipo in Japan

But the similarities stop there
>>
>>221638613
I would be less bothered by it if in addition to the tv drama there were an accurate documentary about the actual historical events. But there isn't one.
>>
>>221636236
yeah portugal mostly had small forts spread all across asia and africa for trading purposes
>>
>>221639265
>"This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental."
happy now, aspie?
>>
>>221638682
read the link i posted and compare it to the main storyline of the show
>>
>>221639834
No, because there is no documentary to accompany the tv drama. People have a right to see the truth.
