Is it just an open air prison everywhere like in UK? Like seriously I want to buy a van and fuck off in a semi-remote comfy spot and move from there just to get food from some local market every 2 weeks while doing stuff like painting and learning languages. Do they just artificially shadowban it everywhere with parking time limits/costs bylaws and fines? Im gonna do it anyways, just asking if i should curse the continent and if I will die in a shootout instead of painting.
>>221638339Aye it's the same everywhere, the law tries to bully you to pay for overpriced designated camping places. It's still doable if you aren't completely oblivious and careless.
>>221638411Yea fuck this continent. It really fooled me with the EU ode to joy thing. Oh well see me on the news i guess.
I don't see why you would die in a shootout, but the main thing here is that you can only have your car outside of the country where it's registered for up to 6 months a year, no? So unless you're just permanently moving to a single country and registering a car there, then it's going to be a massive pain in the ass to get around that.As for spots, I mean there are obvious camping spots you pay for, but also I think it would be possible to just park somewhere legal off road. I'm in the balkans somewhat often, and there are always some campers parked near beaches. Not in any paid camping spots/parking, but just in the general vicinity. Maybe it's more controlled in some other countries, but I think it's still possible to find spots like that.
>>2216384816 months in a remote spot and then move to a new one is doable. Camping spots where you pay as much as rent no, the entire point is to avoid rent.>balkans Yea thats what i was thinking as well as best choice.
>>221638573>balkans>Yea thats what i was thinking as well as best choice.Word of caution, expect the third world, bribery is the name of the game down south. Police in places like Bosnia, Serbia, Albania will hassle you until you pay them cash, luckily it doesn't cost "too" much. Even just 20€ is enough for those shitheads to leave you alone
>>221638339No its fairly easy to camp in fields of isolated places for the night. Ths issue is if you stay longer than say 3 days in the same spot
>>221638573>6 months in a remote spot and then move to a new oneYou'd need to read up on that, but from what I understand it means you cannot be abroad for more than 6. So 6 months in one spot and moving to another one is irrelevant. Half a year needs to be spent in the country the car is registered in.>>221638728The bribery part is true, but at least in my experience they seem to harass their own citizens more often than tourists. I don't think it's a significant issue at all, but I guess that might depend on the specific region.
>>221638728We will see, thanks. If it doesnt work out screenshot this for when im in the news in a bloodbath. Wish me luck im starting the attempt this summer.
>>221638825Yea no worries on that im not from uk originally so ill buy it from my origin country with the driver's seat in the correct spot and try it out.
>>221638339An old work mate was really excited about his #vanlife honeymoon to the alps with his wife. He said afterwards that it was hell, incredibly uncomfortable, the only benefit was not having to drive a big campervan round the mountains.
>>221638822>Ths issue is if you stay longer than say 3 days in the same spotWhich is completely artificial just to make me waste money on gas. So yea i mean things like that to shadowban it. We will see.
>>221638942>vanlife honeymoonLol sounds like he wanted to LARP from the middle class life. No i already slept in my car these past 2 winters no issue there for me, van is an upgrade. My other two options are eternal rentslave or toxic vampire family that im trying to cut off. Im betting everything on van life.
>>221638339Go to a place that isn't the UK or Germany or fucking Holland and park in some backcountry road where nobody will give a shit
>>221638946>noooo just let me park my rustbucket anywhere anytime with no limits! Sure it leaks oil and is on the way, but muh freedums!
>>221639147This but unironically
>>221639070Yea thats the plan.>>221639147Yea just let me do that. No oil leaks.
>>221638411whats stopping you to take a dumb and discharge dirty water on a random field?
>>221639745Nothing, but getting caught will cost you a small fortune
>>221639745Why would something stop you? Burrying your shit is healthy for the field, and "dirty water" is just water unless you mean chemicals which i dont see why you would have those around.
>>221639880>getting caughtnobody will catches you, you just dump the shit before you leave
>>221640114>chemicals which i dont see why you would have those aroundsoap shampoo and similar
>>221640454Idk ill use soap made of fat. This is pearl clutching anyways. Im doing it and whatever happebs happens, ill try to take down someone with me if its gonna be a bloodbath.
>>221638339>Do they just artificially shadowban it everywhere with parking time limits/costs bylaws and fines?Yes. And the parking areas that are free are usually far away from any point of interest (shops for food in your case). Parking spaces are rare enough so don't be a cunt and perpetually take up room>>221638842Are you planning on attacking the police when they are going to issue you a fine.>>221640114>Burrying your shit is healthy for the fieldIts not. Human fecal matter should at least be composted before using it as a fertiliser.
>>221642089If my money runs out cause of bylaws/fines when it shouldnt it will be a bloodbath on the last batch of cops and the place they came from unless they shoot me before it happens.
>>221638339What's stopping you from stealth vanning?White van, no markings, people will just think it's a blue collar job van. Park it on a random road, move it everyday.
>>221638481Because he doesn't want to get bullied by the law, and that only ends in one way. Police
>>221643550Needs air flow or humidity will gather and i will need solar pa el on roof to power fridge and laptop. Besides im gonna be in semi-isolated spots not inside towns etc
>>2216385736 months is a long time, not sure why anon was trying to be a downer about it. I don't think that would be too much hassle and affect your experience that negatively. Where are you from? Balkans would be way more interesting than the UK anyway, you may even spot some Bears occasionally. What are you doing to do for money?>>221638728Speaking of corruption, how easy would it be for me to buy a driving license in one of these countries?
>>221643550And not in this open air prison where the driver seat is on the right side limiting you to the open air prison. Continental europe.
>>221643876Im from southern europe. Money i already gathered and the plan is to minimilize expenses via van life so that a few months of work will cover the entire year of expenses where i can focus on hobbies i want to start such as painting.
>>221643990>Money i already gatheredFor a few years worth without fines/bylaws*
>>221643990That sounds amazing
>>221644090Yea in theory but as you can see in practice it is artificially made not so amazing. We will see, screenshot this in case im in the news.
>>221638339Good luck!>Wild camping is permitted anywhere in France subject to the permission of the landowner or tenant of the land, and subject to certain general limitations. The basic rules are set out in Article R111-33 of French town and country planning law.>The main restrictions stipulate that wild camping is not permitted on the coast, in protected natural sites, and on the perimeter of classified historic monuments.>Essentially it means that you can stop for the night at the roadside or on public land subject to the restrictions indicated above, and on private land if you have the owner's permission. This is almost always possible:>Bivouacking is generally a one-night stop, and is implicitly authorised between the hours of 7 p.m and 9 a.m.With a van>Since 2004, French local authorities have been encouraged to provide specifically designated parking areas for motorhomes. Many French towns and large villages now have motorhome areas, and these are generally free except in some popular tourist locations.>Outside of towns, it is therefore generally legal to park up a motorhome at the side of a quiet road.
>>221644413>and these are generally free>Outside of towns, it is therefore generally legal to park up a motorhome at the side of a quiet road.Good guy france. I knew you were from when i visited and felt uplifted from the architecture. First book on foreign labguages i bought is french, as soon as i learn it ill do a tour of france if money permits it.
>>221644554Best of luck mate. French countryside is comfy, you've got lots of farms as well, it's probably doable to get a job. I have friends who lived in a van for years, I don't think they've had any issues. They switched regions often. Post some of your paintings when you get there.
>>221644768>Post some of your paintings when you get there.Yea once/if they get good enough lol
>>221644413Seems like that this is for a few/one night so semi-isolated balkan spot still seems the best bet and hopefuly ill get the hang of it.
>>221643850Well of course you modify the white van to actually be livable, but keep it looking generic on the outside
>>221645191Yea it will be generic nothing fancy.
>>221643550Then pikeys will smash in your windows looking for tools they can steal
