Today we celebrate the anniversary of the Battle Castagnaro (1387) between Verona and Padua (led by John Hawkwood). It is one of the most famous battles of the Italian condottieri age and resulted in a Paduan victory. It's common to eat salmons and eggs on this holiday. What type of holidays do you have?
>>221644005the only comparable holiday would be the Sedan day which was celebrated during the German empire, it remembered the surrender of the French army at the battle of Sedan which enabled the formation of the German empire. But that was no longer remembered after WW1.
>>221644005Here in South Hemisphere, is winter and we have winter festivals called Festa Junina, people celebrate Saint Peter, Saint Antônio the wifechooser, and shit like this, people eat food with corn baked like tamales/pamonha, paçoca(peanut cream but floor), pé de moleque, vinho quente(hot wine mixed with ginger). It was brought by portugueses of 19th century I think
Next up is "Flag day of the Finnish Defence forces" on 4th of June. It is Mannerheims birthday. There is a military parade and promotions are given.
