I had a coworker from kazakhstan who was a horse wrestler, his family had hundreds of wild horses back home, as in the horses would wander the steppe freely most of the year then during some season they all return to his village, some young stallions would return rowdy at which point he had to go and wrestle them, apparently it's something you have to do to domesticate them, I think it's not that all that different from the cowboys lived with the mustangs
