Why don't more cultures consume fish?
Fish fuckin sucks they all got parasites and swim around near sewage outlets eating human wasteNot that its my problem but fisheries are totally fucked thanks to the locusts that are chinese and dotheads probably not going to have anything but farmed tilapia and catfish in a couple decades
>>221652375You shouldn't. Unlike livestock, few fish have been successfully farmed. Unless we intentionally reduce catch limits, fish populations will continue to decline.
>>221652463Aquaculture harvesting has been growing at insane rates for the past 4 decades.https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/ER.FSH.AQUA.MThttps://www.fao.org/newsroom/detail/fao-report-global-fisheries-and-aquaculture-production-reaches-a-new-record-high/en
>>221652375I am confused by all those bordering on landlocked african countries that are colored blue.
>>221652538Rivers and lakes
expensive
Fish is pricey. The only affordable options for me are sardines, tilapia, hake and similar types of fish. Chicken and pork are a lot cheaper, so I’d rather buy those. I also stay away from seafood in general, aside from fish
>>221652375Fish is not that popular down here
>>221652375surprised about francethought they'd eat more pork than fish
>>221652375I live near the coast and fish is still expensive here, while bovine meat and poultry are very cheap in comparison.
>>221652538Do you think there's fish only in the ocean...?
acquired taste, I feel like most people don't like fish because they don't eat fish. lots of people here only eat fish during good fridaynot to mention the price, you can buy 3x as much of chicken breasts compared to tilapia (the shittiest fish) fillets
Fish is cheaper than chickens and pork here
>>221652711I love salmon, but it's so crazy expensive in my state because the only ones sold here are from portugal and norway.
>>221652672They are an Atlantic and Mediterranean state after all.
>>221652711Tilapia is only bad because it got a ton of slander thrown at it for years, that and people tend to fuck up in preparing it
Honestly fish kinda sucks and it's objectively worse than land based meat like chicken or beef. There's a reason eating fish has been traditionally considered penitential in the West.
>>221652759In the US schizos think it has a chemical that causes cancer in it
>>221652741I meant chile and norway, not portugal. My bad.
>>221652769>Honestly fish kinda sucks and it's objectively worse than land based meat like chicken or beef.Who the fuck told you that?>There's a reason eating fish has been traditionally considered penitential in the West.A fuckton of civilisation and statea made use of fish as a protein source for ages.
>>221652375According to your picture it's the majority
>>221652849>Who the fuck told you that?My tastebuds>A fuckton of civilisation and statea made use of fish as a protein source for ages.Yeah because it's cheap and abundant, but honestly it kinda sucks and land meat is always preferable
>>221652375How are hongkongese eating so much meat on that tiny piece of land?
>>221652928It's per capita, you have to factor in that they get tourists from mainland china and from around the globe. I'm sure that pumps up their numbers quite a bit.
>>221652375Because shark, whale, mussels, and lobster are superior.
>>221652375>consuming flesh Yikes
>>221652538The fishing in Africa is insane, guys with scars all over their bodies, some missing limbs, riding on the shoddiest rafts over the muddiest water fishing large predatory fish unheard of anywhere else on earth with nets and hooks tied to logs, people die every day to hippos, crocodiles and to these fish, in a lot of places it's the only source of food there is so they have no choice but to do this everyday
>>221654172>shark, whale, mussels, and lobsterall seafood, that was implied with my graph.
>>221652375i dont like it very much. i made a tuna cassarole today and as i was smelling the smelly smells of the fish i thought to myself "i should use chicken next time"but I guess it's supposed to be good for you. omega-3 fatty acids, and all that.
>>221652375>other meat>papua new guineait's not what i'm thinking, right?
>>221652375all will get replaced by bugs
>>221654502from deepseek
>>221654172Sharks are fish
>>221652375Meat and dairy (on the scale that we eat them) are quite recent trends. If you go back a little into the past it'd look very different. Where I live we still eat a lot of bivalves and shellfish. Also worth mentioning, despite the relative decline of seafood vs cattle, the overall industry has drastically expanded like >>221652463 said and we're at serious risk of soon wiping out staples like the Atlantic cod.
EAT LE BUGS ARE LE BAD
>>221652375Because fish farming is much more difficult whereas most land animals just need a fence.
