What would this part of the world be like if it had never been colonized by Russia?
second africa
>>221666682Brazilian/Peruvian Amazon but in Old Woeld instead kek
>>221666682Living in tents
>>221666736>>221666811Why
>>221667166Because the Soviets forced them to permanently settle, they were able to build modern countries.
>>221667384There were already cities and settled populations before Russians showed up wtf
>>221667415Definitely not the majority and not even in all of those areas that are now countries
>>221667415No, the cities and settlements are small, there are still many millions still living in semi-nomadic lifestyle.
>>221666682the entire region is an extension of Iran.
>>221666682Actually Kyrgyzstan joined the russian empire willingly
>>221666736They still are>>221666682Afghanistan
>>221666682i mean what do you expect to hear it's not like they have so much russian influence in their modern culture
Stan countries+ caucasian countries (georgia armenia Azerbaijan turkey) = EurasiaIran is more stan than kazakhstan tho
>>221667457>>221667484i tried to look up numbers but i could only find information on the khanate of kokand:>n the 1830s, more than 5 million people lived in the Khanate of Kokand. Roughly 3 million of them were sedentary residents with Turkic and Iranian roots, while the remaining population of 2.0–2.5 million were nomadic tribes, spread across 400,000 households, consisting of various Turko-Mongolian groups such as Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Karakalpaks, Kalmyks, and Farghani Qipchaqs.so a majority of the population was settled with a large nomadic minority. as the khanate of kokand included large swathes of steppe that are now kazakhstan and kyrgysztan i imagine numbers for settled people in the neighboring emirate of bukhara and khanate of khiva were similar or larger as they largely governed agricultural and oasis areas
>>221666682Like Iran
>>221666682They'd be wholesome chungus secular free democratic americanized countries where faggotry is legal and every person earns 80k a year
>>221666682Probably poor like Afghanistan and Pakinstan
>>221666682What would even need to happen for the Russian Empire to completely ignore this region? But anyway, Central Asian khanates would continue to decline in influence no matter what and come under the heel of some other great power. Possibly China, Iran or Britain but not that there is much to gain from CA remain largely autonomous well into the 20th century, and not being under Russia means no Soviet revolution, and each country could go any way from that point.
>>221671371>What would even need to happen for the Russian Empire to completely ignore this region?Well, Russia conquered southern Siberia in the 17th century and then didn't bother conquering Central Asia for another 200 years
