I am stuck dealing with an abusive alcoholic BPDemon. It's so much worse than I ever imagined. I have heard the horror stories but now I know firsthand the pure evil. She already started doing it once, she actually called the emergency number and started screaming "stop you're hurting me!". I've had moments I'm literally almost brought to tears over how fucked up this situation is. I can't even contact people for most of the day because she's always with me and extremely controlling. At best when I'm in the bathroom I can send a few quick messages. I have barely been home at all for like 2 weeks straight now. My cat deserves better than this. I deserve better than this. I regret so much the day our paths crossed, God I have no idea what kind of demonic pact I was entering into when I said "sure" after she asked if I'd hang out with her.

I already partly outlined this in a post above, but I’ve read about the idea that a lot of what underlies BPD is profound narcissistic insecurity. Note that BPD is generally recognized to be the female manifestation of sociopathy genes. One of the ways that women pump up their ego is to use their boyfriend as a benchmark; if he’s important, that must mean she’s hot shit, too.

Stroking a fragile ego in this way is sometimes known as “narcissistic supply.” Everyone does this to some extent, but where it veers into a personality disorder, or a mental illness is when it becomes delusional; based on lies, either to others, or oneself. One of the characteristics of BPD girls is to delusionally over-inflate how important their bf is, in order to (by proxy) delusionally over-inflate how important the BPD-havers in question are.

Imagine what that’s like on the receiving end in the honeymoon phase. The girl you barely know is madly in love with you, practically worships you, and is the best gf ever. It’s amazing, at least for a short while. Having a good gf at all is a bit rare these days, but it’s especially effective if the man has a bit of a narcissistic streak and delusions of grandeur.

Later, serious problems develop when something happens to force the BPD girl to face the reality that their bf isn’t a god, and is probably just a normal guy, or maybe even a loser. It reminds their inner narcissist that they’re prob also a loser. Worse, they generally don’t just come down to earth, and think about things realistically, but flip in the opposite direction; they’ll often despise you after their delusions are shattered, and start lashing out, often in potentially life-ruining ways.

It’s a bit like being a drug addict. You have an intensely good time for a while, but there’s no free lunch; you’re rapidly burning through neurotransmitter reserves while you’re up, and then you’re in for a bad comedown when it’s over.
