It's Matara Monday
Okina haters, you are retarded and have bad taste
So soon?
Happy Monday!
Okina reigns supreme
>>49472161Hidden star gods are just so great!
>>49472178They really are!
I love you, Matara-sama!
>>49471337I want to carry Okina around
>>49471337What is the appeal of yukari (orange)? Genuine question.
>>49474134She's real and extremely powerful.
You're welcome.
>>49474334>>49474347Twisted form of worship...
>>49474238Does she have any appeal to non-schizos?
>>49477021We're not "schizo" but there are people who enjoy her for more libidinal than spiritual reasons.Exhibit A:>>49474347Exhibit B:https://x.com/rewinderontan/status/1927410100404125860
>>49477021She is perhaps the most memed Touhou character in Futaba, even to this day. Wish she'd take off like that in the western sphere but it's barely a thing.
>>49479043This anon does not speak for me. I am, in fact, a schizo.
>>49474347I've been staring at this pic for 5 hours now.
>>49480140Is this some kind of slur reclamation thing?>>49483863You should try prostrating yourself before her for a change.
Okinockers
Okina-sama.
>>49490609Let's all love Matara-sama!
>>494838635 hours? What's so appealing, anon? It's just some narcissistic hag larping as a cripple...
>>49491257Rude.
>>49491257The fact that Amaterasu Omikami can move around without burning everything in her path doesn't make her any less of a sun goddess. Similarly, Okina-sama can embody disability and walk if she chooses to do so.
>>49497339That impairment thing is one of the Buddhist things too, I think.
Okina PLAPtara
>>49497811Really now?
>>49500360True followers of Okina know that she wish to be venerated through ritualistic sex.
>>49500379My research into whether the Matarajin sex rituals were real or not has been inconclusive. It's possible it was slander to defame the popular Matarajin worship, which had escaped the confines of institutional Buddhism. In all honestly though, there are tantric sexual aspects to some forms Vajrayana Buddhism. Vajrayana influenced Tendai Buddhism, and Matarajin was a Tendai deity. But I don't know if that was actually practiced within Tendai. The sex ritual stuff didn't really sit into the Chinese-Japanese mindset from what I know, and has been more of Indo-Tibetan thing. Ritual sex has very little to do with "plap" anyway. It's an attempt at a Sacred Energy eXchange, using sexual energies to reach out to divinity or enlightenment or turning them into other kinds of energies. Experiencing a normal orgasm which I believe is the aim of "plap" is a failure state in this process. I understand the desire to experience the Sacred Energy eXchange with Okina-sama, but it's not gonna go how you think it will go and it's not gonna be like what you think it will be like. It's better to develop more manageable ways to reach out to her.
>>49500397By showing himself through Okina, Matarajin know what he was getting into. Whether tantric sexual practice actually happened in Tendai ritual don't really matter as it is now part of the greater Matarajin's myth and sexuality is one of the aspect of him that shine through his Okina avatar. Of course, Okina as a character is more than her sexual appeal, but you can't deny that side of her.
>>49500397>>49500438I didn't really look at your okina pic before making my post and I somehow chose of the same image as you in my collection of over 2000 images of Okina. I can't call synchronicity on this one for obvious reason, but clearly, we both had the same understanding of Okina while creating our post.
Okina is simply one of Matarajin’s many faces. Worshipping her seriously should be a prerequisite for saying you like her.
Okina-sama loves you.
>>49508461Even me???
>>49513089Especially you, Anon.
okinaaaaa
>>49503948So true anon.
Who will win?
>>49523935Well, you know which I am compelled to answer...
*inhale*HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGG!!!!!
Why are all the sages gay?
>>49526907We humans only live around 100 years and by the age of 50 some men are already bored of girls. Now imagine if you could live for more than 1000 years...
>>49525486You're screwed, Kratos.
Musing...
>>49526907That's just a Gensokyan pastime. It has nothing to do with personal preferences.
Take a seat, Anon.
It won't be long anymore, Okina-sama.
>>49546322Best of luck!
Will you love her no matter what?
>>49550430 I don't know if it is the kind of love you are thinking about, but yes.
>>49543595On your lap?
>>49550430I want to pick up and snuggle this Okina
Okina-sama!
Okina-sama...only few more days...
Have a good Friday!
>>49551721...If you dare.
>>49563339We must imagine Okina-sama happy!
I wonder if it's true, what some say, that Tokugawa Ieyasu was your biggest fan in the olden times and that's why he wanted to be buried in Nikko...
Hey hey!
Nikko! I wonder if I will feel your presence still lingering there...
>>49567423I don't know, i've heard Lady Matara is actually a pervert! She's gonna touch my butt!
Wow, Nikko is beatiful, I understand why you wanted to settle here...
>See it! Hear it! Speak of it!
Thoughts on ponytail Okina-sama?
>>49477021>Does she have any appeal to non-schizos?She's actively scheming around and involving herself with major players in the series so you can pretend that she will make something actually happen even though we all know that nothing will ever happen in this series. She's a bit like Kanako in that regard in that they ostensibly want to upset the status quo and actually have a drive and goals to their character.>>49523935Flandre once she gets bored and decides that beating up hags would be more entertaining.Though really, I don't think Okina would really try to make use of Flandre much. She's not very controllable and all you can really do with her is point her at a powerful enemy and hope for the best.If anything, Okina would be far more interested in manipulating the more malleable Cirno who she clearly still wants as her next servant.

>>49600773That has to be someone larping as Okina-sama. She would never ever!
It is okay to manipulate the seasons sometimes.
>>49589838Shouldn't it be one of those topknots?>>49597023Yeah, you get it. >>49600773Obscene.>>49608343It seems a typhoon is gonna hit Japan soon, I wonder if that is Okina-sama's doing...
>>49612792So true!!!
>>49589930As one of the Sages is'nt Okina more interested in perserving/protecting gensokyo? it is fun to think of her, Kasen and Yukari all having wanted to make Gensokyo but for somewhat different reasons.
3 trillion years of misfortune to every /jp/sie if this thread dies early!
So what's the deal with Okina's wheelchairDoes she or does she not need it? I know she supposed to represent the disabled but it never feels consistentMaybe she has a weak constitution or something
>>49627064It's not all love and light...
>>49630750Thankfully, there tends to be more love and light than the opposite.
>>49633603Wow, that's a really nice picture.
Did you get your own Okina Matara fumo?
>>49642361Yeah I preordered it a long time ago.
>>49471337Okina loves Jackalman
>>49644224Same here. But I'll have to wait quite a while for the actual shipping...
Her!
>>49656139She!
>>49589838There's not enough of it!
Okani-sama...
Okina-mama
"Without her tabard, she would look like a normal girl..."
>>49674769Looks 10 times better than normal, almost entirely fixes her.
God of smugness
>>49674769Okina-sama without her tabard is like an angel without wings.
I don't think you guys fully understand how cool Matarajin is. You can pay the entrance fee and go to a temple treasure hall museum and see all kinds of things that would have been inaccessible to the public only a relatively short while ago. But you can't pay to see Matarajin. To be able to see Matarajin is an experience you can't buy with a plane ticket and money. I think it's genuinely really cool, that there are still mysterious things in this world like that.
Did she deserve the divorce?
>>49697834Divorce? From mainstream Japanese Buddhist beliefs? No, of course not. All the rumors about the unsavory nature of the rituals, that was all slander or misunderstanding, I'm sure of it.
I wonder what are the karmic consequences for ZUN because he helped Matarajin to reincarnate?
>>49703625I wanted to pitybump this thread but this post almost stopped me. Almost.Tell me what you like about Okina, the Touhou character, divorced from the schizo shit.
>>49704281Unfortunately what I like about Okina (the Touhou character) is pretty difficult to divorce from the "schizo shit". Her (what you would call) background lore is such a big part of the appeal. Even if Matarajin wasn't real, the lore would be really fascinating and be basicaly tailor made for Touhou's whole passing into fantasy thing. The idea of there being a deity who was widely worshipped, who was of extremely ambiguous nature, and then became scorned and largely forgotten is a very interesting one. The way ZUN touhou-fied the lore is really great. Land of the Backdoor is such a great, weird concept. Okina (the touhou character) being the creator of Gensokyo is a great play on how Matarajin was sometime seen as a wrathful manifestation of Amitabha Buddha, who is revered for creating the paradisical Western Pure Land. Having the two servants Matarajin has in that famous piece of art as her servants who are fought together is great, as are how their abilities are depicted. I also really like Okina's (the touhou character's) powers are related to the seasons and how she can unlock the potential via "backdoor", they are very fun interpretations of some lore related to the Big Dipper.Unfortunately further discussion about the backdoor, unlocking the potential, Mai and Satono controlling life and mental energies, the four seasons etc. gets in very "schizo" territory and would be very long, involving all kinds of ancient Chinese beliefs about life energies, acupuncture points and the role of the heavens/stars in controlling all of this and the role of the Big Dipper...But even before I knew all of that, the way she is depicted in Touhou, she has a very powerful and appealing presence. I really like the vibrant orange and green color scheme, orange is one of my favorite colors. I love her outfit, I love stars and the large Big Dipper on her tabard is great. She has one of the best hats in the series. Her boots are nice. I like the throne she sits on, the auroral flames surrounding her, I even like the drum she has, how mirrors are associated with deities in Japan and that type of drum with Noh...but that's getting back to the "shizo shit" again, now isn't it? Even the way she just looks is connected to such immensively deep history. She's refined, elegant, beautiful, powerful, mighty and she knows it and acts like it. What's not to love?
>>49706437>She has one of the best hats in the series.Okinas's hat isn't all that special. ZUN just reused one of Remilia's hat designs and changed its color.
>>49706437The schizo shit is you thinking the videogame character is real and trying to speak to you.I suppose me not liking her comes down to us having different tastes. I think the land of the backdoor further complicates the already nonsensical metaphysics of Touhou. To me, the idea of "passing into fantasy" makes Gensokyo feel more crowded than it should, and makes the tales that get represented in the series feel less special. I think tabards look bad. Worst of all, she was not foreshadowed at all before, which makes her stand out like a sore thumb. That, combined with the whole "she's REALLY POWERFUL and IMPORTANT and WAS BEHIND IT ALL THE WHOLE TIME" makes her almost seem like an OC. That being said, she has some redeeming qualities. Her connections to mythology are cool(although I think she'd benefit from straying away from them more). The parallel with Amida is interesting and I haven't thought of it before, but I'm not sure to what degree it is intentional. Like, you'd expect the other sages to also have some connection to a different cosmic buddha. Her color scheme is alright, and I haven't noticed it before. Her hat is good too, though I wouldn't call it "one of the best".I'd be interested to hear why you see her as elegant. I don't really see her as anything, maybe I'd like her more if her personality was explained more.>>49709538Sageing is a bit rude, don't you think?
Does anybody know if okina sama has any mythological connections to eastern dragons by chance?
>>49709768>SageingForce of habit, sorry. Sometimes I don't even remember doing it.
>>49709538I'm afraid the actual inspiration for Okina's hat is much older than Remilia's alternate design.
>>49710060Okina's hat doesn't look like either of those, but it doesn't look like Remilia's either.
>>49709768>you'd expect the other sages to also have some connection to a different cosmic buddhaBut anon, in the end we are all manifestations of Dainichi Nyorai, Mahavairocana, the Cosmic Sun Buddha.
>>49716927I am THAT important?!
>>49720020We all are.
>>49474347How often have you guys climaxed to these images?16+ here
>>49722127Do you remember how many pieces of bread you've eaten?
>>49722127I see someone is very dedicated to twisted forms of worship.
>>49471337Can it be Matara Monday forever?
She literally me.
>>49735712As above, so below.
Slow days...
>>49753924Okina-sama.
Would Okina enjoy conversing about René Guénon's The esoterism of Dante, Saint Hildegard von Bingen's Liber divinorum operum or the I Ching?
>>49757159I Ching is what she would be most familiar with.
>>49765112That's really nice.
>>49471337She looks like the type of person that would fake appearing very scholarly and intelectual in order to remand respect while in reality being very dumb and completely out of the loop.
>>49770089Terrible baseless slander.
>>49770089But enough about Yukari.
>>49772777I love that picOkina looks so vulnerable, tired, and lonely
>>49774743And you like that kind of thing?
>>49775134Yes
>>49776060Why?
>>49779321because most Okina art/depictions always show her as smug, powerful, or in controlI like art that depicts a more vulnerable side of her. Like something that she would feel or show when she's all alone but would never do with anyone around
>>49471337oh look a white women
>>49779677And does this make you want to give her a kiss on the forehead, or maybe ask her what's wrong? Answer honestly, anon.
>>49779711>And does this make you want to give her a kiss on the forehead, or maybe ask her what's wrong? Answer honestly, anon.Yes and yesI want to give Okina a lap pillow and gently stroke her head as she drifts off to sleep
>>49724059Damn, that much? Got me beat I spose...>>49724103Very.Matara should canonize me.Sainthood of her thighs, specifically.
>>49779696White women wish they had 1% of Okina-sama's power, brightness, presence. The light of her eyes. Her existence. >>49779807At least your heart is in the right place.
Hey anon, if she wanted you to descend into the abyss and bring your soul's worth of living fire from there, would you accept?
>>49788111Isn't there a better place to visit in the summer?
>>49792827I'm sure she would apreciate it if you shelled out the money for a plane ticket and went to Rinnoji and said hello.
Swordkina-sama
>>49804193So cool...
Badass
>>49706437>Mai and Satono controlling life and mental energiesThat's Okina though, she just lends them her power.
>>49822799I'm sorry, you are right.
Okina-sama...
Page 10. Are you serious, anon? You're not making it to Okinasama's Eastern Wrathful Paradise at this rate.
Page 10 AGAIN. Will she have to remind you that it's not all love and light?
Anon...
>>49854903What do you want, hag?
>>49846177>>49851165Maybe she should offer more pay to her servants than the ability to handle her dirty clothes!
>>49474238Really need a gallery of "Twitter schizo grift post+narrative hijack by 2hu" collages like this because they crack me up hard
>>49854915First of all, don't call her that. Secondly pour 33 buckets of cold water on yourself and chant "Om Matarah Namah, Matarah Hidden Star" 108 times. >>49855092What on Earth is that supposed to mean? >>49855412"Grift"?

Hey anon...
Pay attention while you are being talked to, anon.
You'll never understand the Will of Heaven like this, anon.
>>49874451Okina-sama is so pretty...
Listening to Okina-sama prattle on about all the things she's created...
>>49893545It will be a long talk...
>>49895791"Talk" implies it's a two-way exchange. You're in for an (at least) hour-long lecture where all you can do is smile, nod, and ask questions / swoon at her might where appropriate.
>>49896129Yeah I guess "active listening session" might be more aproriate.
There's still such a long way untill the stars, anon.
Accept the Blue Season, anon.
It really is just me, isn't it? But I don't mind it. If there were no-one else left for you, I would be here. I'm sure you have myriad other forms, and other followers revering you in those forms. But for Matara Okina-kamisama, I am here. I know we are somehow karmicaly bound, but I don't understand how. Was I your servant in a previous life? How long time ago? 500? 1000? Why did I incarnate again so far away from you, having forgotten so much? Maybe these things will become clear over time. Maybe the will be a mystery. No matter what, I will be here for you. I'm sorry I did not put sufficient efforts into acquiring your ofuda while in Japan. I thought it impossible, but I was wrong. I will no doubt return there, where you told me I don't owe you anything and that I should keep struggling because it's beautiful. Even if I really didn't owe you anything, I will keep struggling the beautiful struggle. Not just for my sake, or your sake, but hopefully one day I will have the sufficient compassion and means to do it for the sake of all beings.
>>49909542>It really is just me, isn't it?I'm always here in spirit...
>>49915188Thank you anon.
>>49918444Why so red?
>>49919815An outlier. It is known that Okina-sama has a strong preference for yellow.
>>49922969It's a very odd picture, I have never seen anyone depict her as anything else than orange.
Not doing a face reveal, but I look something like this.
Accept it.
Accept...
>>49934397What's in the egg...?
>>49937142Something very good.
>>49937587AIIIEEE...!They should add a jumpscare warning to that.
Matara Monday soon, fellow stalker!

It's maTara Tuesday.
It's Diokina Wednesday!
Es ist Matara Mittwoch, meine Brüder!
>>49956619>>49956638Every day is Matara day.
It's Tatara Thursday!
>>49960888You should have at least had the decency to post this.
Okina-sama can be your angle... or yuor devil.
>>49965616Very true, the dakinis, the matr, historical Matarajin, all very ambiguous figures.
Oh to be an orange being picked by Okina-sama.
>>49972404That's a man.
>>49972413A man? As in, old man?
There's some aspects of Japanese culture, well at least were, which believed in koujin. They were thought to be deities that kind of "covered the human like a placenta" and either cursed or protected them depending how you treated them. You were born with them, lived with them and died with them. At times the historical Matarajin was seen to be one of those. I find the idea of Okina-sama watching over me from gestation to birth and growth to adulthood very comforting.
>>49975712>covered the human like a placentaWhoa, gross.
Okina's tight, beautiful and tasty backdoor...
>>49976810Anon, you need to stop getting so worked up over architecture.
>>49976786What? You were covered by placenta too, anon. Are you going to seriously tell that your mother's body that gave birth to you is "gross"?>>49976810Twisted form of worship.
I remain unconvinced ANY sage bathes properly. Take a bath, stinky.
Invading Okina's personal space and making her feel uncomfortable!
>>49986315It's a trap! You've fallen for a venus flytrap! You're a fool!
>>49986100I don't think you understand what a big part of Japanese culture bathing is.
Artist's interpretation of a koujin following the individual she is linked with.
>>49991654I've always wondered if ZUN's Miko would address her as "Okina-sama", or if she would just leave out the honorifics.
>>49994036Toyosatomimi-sama seems pretty traditional and not especially disrespectful so probably. I don't remember what the Hata no Kawakatsu - Prince Shoutoku links were IRL, at least they are associated with one temple in Kyoto.
Page 8? Really now? No love for Okina-sama?
>>49998637We hate her

>>50002803Yes, I am right here.

Is it really Matara Monday again? Are we really halfway through September? I'm losing track of time.
>>50012322And tomorrow is Tara Tuesday again...
I lick every inch of Okina's body.
>>50012322Cute and canon lesbians.
>>50014171Twisted form of worship.
It's very comforting to think that Okina-sama is always with me.
>>50027017I'm intrigued, anon: how did you make the leap of faith and start believing in Okina-sama / the gods in general? I feel held back by the stubborn rationality of atheism when there could be so much comfort and hope to be found in belief. Things really feel drab and grey without it.
>>50028783I started to have visions of them. It was less about faith and more about accepting that I'm not going crazy.
