My headcanon is that Koakuma is the sort of succubus that needs paizuri to live
So Remimi employs me to work at the SDM where really all I do is sit around, play vidya with Flanflan and get tittyraped nearly to death by Koakuma every time she's hungry.

Kogasa is actually the Masamune blade from the legend of Masamune and Miramar hidden in a fake umbrella sheathe. She is capable of surprising because she is a hidden blade. She is good at blacksmithing weapons because she is a blacksmithed weapon. She is gentle and kind to the villagers and children because a Masamune blade is made to cut only evil, never the innocent. She continues to larp as an umbrella because much like an umbrella her legend is about her gently repelling flowing water, and she likes peace.

I just read The Destruction of Gensokyo and (sort of read) its sequel. That was uh... something. I thought the premise was really interesting and it seemed like it was going somewhere at first but it kind of fizzles out and then becomes "my omnipotent OC instakills every character I personally dislike" with some light Christian theming at the end, like someone in the last thread pointed out. I just started skimming Anti-Parallel Dreamers after it devolved into "MURDER HER!!!" and TF2 references. Gonna read some of the old threads as apparently there was some fuss about that. Can't say I've read anything quite like it. You can decide for yourself if that's praise or not.

Alright, this is a short fic created out of boredom, I didn't put much mind into it, so there it goes

This is inspired by The Destruction of Gensokyo fic, so if you want a quick resume of it (I made my fic as a standalone, so you don't really need it. There are a few nods here and there, especially one, but that's it) the hebrew god sends some dude to destroy Gensokyo, lots of drama, he converts pretty much everybody and kills some like Okina, Seiga, Yukari, etc, and Marisa (the main MC) gets mistreated in a horrible way through all the fic and everyone seems to forget about her, she gets sent to hell, and that's it, that's mainly what happens

Now, let's get down to it

Touhou: Paradoxical Sleep, part 1

Tenshi: ... Are you for real?

That day, there had been serious earthquakes around Gensokyo, and they weren't exactly normal ones. There was a touch of something in them, and Yukari could feel it.

Yukari: My, I made a mistake... I beg your forgiveness...

At first, the main suspect was, of course, that celestial who got kicked out from Heaven. When the sage went to her, she found out that the peach girl was actually fighting off the tremors that were tormeting the magical land.

Showing off her maturity and understanding for once, she spoke up.

Tenshi: Don't worry, I cannot blame you for that... Knowing my past records...

The sage would have chuckled in her mischievous way had been a normal day, but it wasn't.

Yukari: Let's put that behind us, and focus on the present. These earthquakes you have been fighting off...

Tenshi: Aye... They aren't normal, I tell you. Each time I stop one earthquake, another one beings...

The sage sighed. It seemed her suspicions were right, after all.

Yukari: We're under attack, my girl.

Tenshi: We absolutely are... but by whom? It must be something big... or someone.

Yukari: ... Can you please keep the earthquakes at bay until I fix the problem, my dear girl?

Tenshi: ... Aye, I can do that.

Yukari: Wonderful.

And she disappeared in the blink of an eye with one of her gaps.

The celestial cracked her knuckles.

Tenshi: Bring it on...

Touhou: Paradoxical Sleep, part 2

Suwako: Took you long enough. Let me guess: You went to check on the celestial brat first, didn't you?

The mountain god yawned, as she floated on a pond, seemingly uninterested in the problem Gensokyo was having

Yukari: I did.

She wouldn't have put it below her to do something like this, especially with the problems she and her friend brought to Gensokyo, problems her shrine maiden had to solve.

Suwako: For the record, I don't have anything to do with this. I was even going to use my powers to stop the trembling, but that Tenshi girl beated me to it... So I let her have the spotlight...

Yukari: ... And all the effort...

Suwako: She could work out a little, right?

The frog girl smirked.

Yukari: Anyway, I think we both know what's happening...

The goddess remained quiet for a moment, before speaking up again.

Suwako: Guess we do... If you need anything, ask me.

Yukari: Will do, thank you...

The gap sage disappeared, and Suwako returned to her relaxing swim.

A god, no matter how powerful, always needed someone who acted as a vessel, a middle agent that connected the divine with the world of mortals. This willing follower, of course, would take their god's objectives as their own. They will gain responsabilities, and the powers to accomplish them, such as doing miracles to get worshippers for their god, and in return, they would experience greater pleasures than their less 'godly' peers.

The problem here is that right circumstances had to happen for a vessel to be fully able to be linked to the god that was speaking to them. And what better circumstances that to have your own flesh and blood as your main agent? This wasn't necessarily the best thing, however, as some god's offspring turned against their betters, and some non blood related followers did as good a job to their god as any of their children. But being related by blood made things much, much easier to form an union.

Of course, Suwako had Sanae, their link going beyond simple agreements of rights and duties, and while at first she was selfish and only wanted a secure way to preserve her divinity if things went wrong, which they obviously did, she grew to love her bloodline more than anything in the world. Of course, she would never admit it out loud.

There were many gods who did the same as her too, but one ended up becoming more relevant than the others, taking it beyond the horizon of what should be done, even for the likes of her. While she, a curse god, could respect great trickery, she was personally disgusted by how that whole ordeal went.

Suwako: An all or nothing bet... and it worked.

As she meditated on this, a new earthquake rampaged, and just as it came, it went away. The celestial was doing a good work, for sure.

Suwako: Tsk, cranky, as always.

She said to herself.

Touhou: Paradoxical Sleep, part 3

A certain somebody had been visiting Gensokyo that day. He appeared in a localization, only to disappear for a few minutes and suddenly pop out in another. Each time, he wandered around without direction, mistreating everyone that had the misfortune of encountering him.

First encounter...

Aya: Smile to the camera!

The tengu, always eager to take any chance of getting an interesting scoop, no matter how extreme despite the danger of risking her health in the process, flew around him, taking photos at him.

??: You sinful fabricator of lies! Misleader! Deceiver!

She was more than used to be the receiver of insults, so she didn't care one bit. When the tengu had her photos, she answered him with a "whatever", and flew away, giggling about the article she was going to write about this.

Second encounter...

Rumia: ... I think you aren't a human anyone would want to eat...

The youkai said, while laying down on her side on top of a big branch, bored, as she played with a leaf between her delicate pale fingers. Delicate pale fingers that could rip off the flesh from his bones without effort if she wished so.

??: Butcher! Killer! Monster!

For one moment, she thought about killing this annoying guy... Nah, she didn't really want to. She rolled her red eyes at his provocations, and flew away, going to get some pork from the scared human farmers, a result of a little peace treaty she made with them long ago.

Third encounter...

Lily: It's spring! It's spring! It's spri-

The spring fairy announced with her gentle voice, and bright smile. However, the individual interrupted him with his rather unkind words.

??: Abomination created by the arcane! Sorcerous creature! Untrustworthy!

The ever happy fairy threw a cold look at him. It was an unspoken rule not to annoy Lily White while she was all happy announcing spring, for the fairy was extremely powerful despite what her species might say, especially when angry. But instead of dignifying him with her attention, and maybe a beat down with her magic, she just continued to announce the present season.

Fourth encounter...

Marisa: Geez, what's this feeling of deja vu, ze?

The witch said, as she looked at the eccentric tourist, sitting on top of her broom.

??: Wizard! Practitioner of the forbidden arts! Traitor to humanity!

For some reason, she couldn't help but to dislike this guy who appeared out of nowhere to death, to the point that she wondered if it would be ok to blast him with a master spark... She didn't let the intrusive thoughts win, however. Having better things to do than listen to this mad one, she went away.

What was interesting about him, is that each time he appeared, several earthquakes would rumble the land, and it frustated him to no end that the tremors stopped very shortly after they started. As he started to vanish, he spoke up.

??: Every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess... This I assure you...

He started to reassure himself and the god he so loyally followed.

??: I knew you were always there, for me. All my life I have waited for you... All the trials the Devil gave me, they just made me stronger to complete the task you had in store for me...

To put things into context, his life was quite rough.

His father, who was unknown to him, left his mother right away.

His mother, a heathen, had two moments that would set into motion the plans of his god: the day she met his father, and the day she left him at that orphanage, where he would find the best thing that could have happened to him... His faith.

While his connection with it was great, he also seeked a family of his own. However, each time without fail his loves failed to meet his requirements. He believed that the abandonment he suffered at the hands of his mother was the root of his bad relationship with women, or at least, his attraction to whores and other ungodly women.

To make things worse, nobody, aside from his god, knew of his existence. Each time he tried to form a relationship with anyone, even a heathen, may his god forgive him, it went away as quick as dust in the wind. Even his caretakers at the orphanage acted many time as if he didn't exist...

And to finally wrap it all, he suffered narcolepsy, a trait inherited from his mother...

But he understood that this was the plan that he set up for him, that he needed to be a ghost to the world for this. Heavens, he directly told him that. All of the toil in his life just tasted like sweet nectar in his mouth now...

And so, after a short while, he fully disappeared again...

Touhou: Paradoxical Sleep, part 4

Yukari: Hello there, young man.

When he woke up, however, he had an unexpected intruder. He tried to move, but he was completely paralized...

The youkai took a look at his room. It was in poor condition, only filled with the absolute necessary to be called a home. There was also a big cross at the wall, crude, but it did serve its purpose well.

Yukari: Your ability to reach Gensokyo in your dreams reminds me of somebody, you know?

The dreamer shifted just barely in his sleep, trying to get up, but unable to do so. He even tried to mutter some curses, but they were drowned in his throat.

Yukari raised her eyebrow. Even despite him being unable to do anything to her, he still had some fight in him. Not bad, not bad at all.

Yukari: Don't work yourself, you are paralysed...

He didn't seem to care.

Yukari: Have it your way... Now, youngling, I presume that you were planning to destroy Gensokyo, correct?

He growled in anger.

Yukari: Yes, that's right... Looking to get killed by the first dangerous being that wouldn't accept your words...

Suddenly, a questioning look appeared on his eyes, which Yukari interpreted as him wondering how she could know that.

Earlier on, Marisa approached her after she was done talking with the curse goddess, a meeting brought by fortune, and she told her about this weird outsider looking for a fight, and how the earth trembled at first when she saw him.

Yukari: Come on, this isn't the first time he pulls something like this...

The gap youkai said

The dreamer looked at her with shock... Just what did she mean with that? Did his lord attack that haven of evil before? The youkai wasn't going to take her time to explain it, it appeared.

Yukari: And unfortunately for him, not everybody is as violent and evil as he believes...

Another wrathful cry from his throat.

Yukari: In any case... The plan has failed. You needed to die in Gensokyo so you could become the perfect martyr, the perfect symbol, the perfect link... I don't know the reason why all of his plans require the suffering of his followers, or even their deaths. I guess his ways truly are mysterious...

The sage shaked her head at his third drowned gasp.

Yukari: I sense that you have been manipulated all your life, even before your birth, to do this, to try to harm my people, to destroy my land... And I know that if I let you live, you will come back, to try to fulfill your purpose, your destiny...

She approched the bed, and patted her head in a caring way, feeling pity for him and the present circumstances...

Yukari: I want to tell you that you're forgiven... and that I'm sorry...

Before the dreamer could know it, he was trapped inside a gap.

Then... it closed, giving him instant rest.

Yukari knew she made someone really angry that day, but she didn't really care. They were enemies, weren't they?

Yukari: Someone should protect his pawns a little better...

She said to the cross on the wall, knowing that she was being observed at that point.

Her mission fulfilled, she opened a gap to return back to her home.

Touhou: Paradoxical Sleep, final part

When she returned, there was nothing much to do about this whole incident but to patch some things up.

Tenshi: So, that's it, right? No more quakes?

Yukari: Yes... You did a great service to us today, Tenshi. I want to thank you.

The celestial girl made a triumphant pose as she received the praise.

Tenshi: It was easy, so, no need to say anything!

Yukari: Is that so... Well, I was thinking of a reward for you...

The girl perked up, looking at Yukari with an eager expression.

Tenshi: Oh?

She was like a little puppy. Smirking, Yukari threw a bottle of sake at her, which she quickly grabbed. The recipient now in her hands, she took a look at it. The bottle was very well decorated, to say the least.

Tenshi: This looks very expensive...

Yukari: It is... Once again, thank you for everything, and enjoy...

Yukari disappeared again, and Tenshi smiled.

Tenshi: Damn right I will!

She unplugged it, the action making a loud 'plop', and took a long sip.

Tenshi: By Heaven, this sake is really great! Unlike Gensokyo's!

She happily said.

Now, Yukari visited once more Suwako's pond. The sage saw that the goddess was drying herself at the afternoon's sun.

Suwako: You did it, didn't you? And you came back to tell me. How polite.

Yukari: I had to tell you, didn't I? Couldn't let you with the intrigue...

Suwako: Thank you so much... So, nothing to worry out, right? No more 'trials' for little Gensokyo?

Yukari: ... At least for now.

Suwako: Good to know... Remember, give me a call if you need anything... This is my home too, you know?

Yukari hummed at her words. The frog god wasn't that bad, all things considered...

Right after that, she appeared from the gap that just opened near her house.

She could use a bit of sleep after the day she had, quite frankly... but those ideas disappear instantly when Chen, the nekomata, the shikigami of her shikigami, grabs her leg out of nowhere.

Chen: Got'cha!

Yukari: My, hello there, Chen...

She patted her little head, making her purr.

Yukari: Having fun, I see...

Chen: Not really... I was missing you quite a lot! You promised that you would play with me today! And I'm not letting you go this time!

She tightened her grasp on her, the action making Yukari chuckle.

Yukari: Alright, alright, little one... I had to do something really important, but now I'm completely free. Let me fulfill my promise, alright?

Chen: Yay! Let's go! Let's go! Ran's also waiting! And she told me she was going to cook something nice tonight too!

She was such a ball of energy and cuteness...

They both walked together, hand in hand, towards their house. While doing so, Yukari took a look around her green surroundings... and then at Chen. The nekomata felt her gaze, and looked up at her. Seeing her affectionate look, Chen gave her a sweet smile, with Yukari doing the exact same.

Gensokyo was secure once again, and so was her family...

I have this story idea about the son of an old youkai exterminator who had fought the youkai before the spell card rules were established. He was very traditional and distrustful of the youkai so he taught his son everything he knew and instructed him to hone his skills and pass them down to as many people as possible so that the village is better prepared for conflict. This, of course, leads him to dangerous places where he gets into fights to get stronger. He'll probably get seriously hurt at some point, a youkai will save him and it will make him question his beliefs. He'll dig for information on the current state of Gensokyo as well as interact with youkai more often and warm up to some of them. I think it could be pretty cool story.

I also thought of another thing as I was writing this. A comedic story where a very paranoid villager would constantly get tangled up in harmless youkai shenanigans and misinterpret them in the most ridiculous and over the top manner, getting scared and believing he's about to die every time.

Ah, don't let a work ruin you like that. Use your disliking towards it to build something, like the guy who posted his fic above
>>
>>49784289
Hi I'm OP. No I'm not the author of The Destruction of Gensokyo. I was browsing through YouTube and saw a comment mentioning that fic. I went to look for it and ended up on Wattpad. I read through it and was depressed seeing all the cute characters dying and betraying everything they have fought for. Especially Reimu who just got said fuck it and converted.

The original first thread I made was to solely talk about the fic. I would later bring some other fics to the discussion and ask anons about their favorites.

The response to The Destruction of Gensokyo has been pretty mixed with anons. I don't like the fic but I put it their to share with anons.

Furthermore, the author of The Destruction of Gensokyo claims to not be the actual author but it was instead from a Japanese blog site where the entire thing was written in Japanese originally. The author on Wattpad was a frequent regular on the blog site and noticed that the blog was deleted without a trace but saved The Destruction of Gensokyo before it was lost.

Do I believe it? I take it with a huge grain of salt. Anons in the other thread made great points about how it might just be made up.

You started a series of writing threads because originally you just wanted to discuss an edgewank fic that you yourself don't even like? Really?
>the blog was deleted without a trace
I'm gonna assume that this is true. Probably because the OG author grew out of his particular phase and saw just how yikes his whole idea was. A lot of creatives are embarrassed about their early works, and this one is Japanese and they have tendencies to delete things.
I'm more offended because I just happen to think Bible lore/myths and religious mysticism are cool and even studied some passages.

I'm not sure what these threads are about, but my little headcanon is:
Koishi is gloomy and has her third eye open again;
Rumia is a rich and successful businessman tomboy who has a cottage at the lake and looks like a dragon hybrid;
Wriggle is pretty much fanon Wriggle, but more clumsy and he's also a muscular man;
Not sure where to apply it or even if I want to apply it. Just wanted to share.

Go.
>>
>>49798035
Here goes nothing.

It begins in the streets of Naples... that's where Patchouli and Remilia first met. A dark and stormy night par excellence, very dramatic. Then, Patchouli had yet to achieve immortality of any stripe, and Remilia was barely older then she appeared to be. Words were exchanged, one set ended up burned into both's minds forever... Patchouli calling Remilia a deluded child. They laugh about it nowadays, an old joke. Nonetheless, Remilia's charisma, while still in it's infancy, won through and Patchouli took her in, hiding her in the basement of her parent's estate. She spent about a year there, with the young Italian woman the vampire's only social contact. Then, she abruptly disappeared... making the then-student of the arcane worry for her. Brat grew on her. She returned another stormy night some weeks later, distraught sister in tow, and grimly refusing to tell of what had occurred...

The young noblewoman sheltered the two vampires then. Fed them. However... things could not last. Patchouli was growing, aging, maturing. Her parents wanted her to give up this silly 'magic' business and work with them on finding a good husband. Nowadays, such a thing, for Patchouli, seems... ridiculous. The trio took what they could, and fled into the night, back to Eastern Europe, where the sisters originated... Remilia then insisted the famed Vlad Tepes was their father, and Patchouli was never able to uncover real evidence for or against it. Once there... they began a campaign of resistance against the Turkish invaders pushing into Europe, a campaign of blood, death, and terror.

Patchouli continued her studies into arcane lore during this period, aiding the Scarlets whenever occasion arose, but she mostly provided a more or less safe home base for them in an obscure mountain range in the Balkans. Despite the best efforts of the vampire sisters (mostly Remilia), the biggest turning point had little to nothing to do with them. The Battle of Vienna happened, and the rise of the Turks stopped, and their slow downward slide began. It bothers Remilia that it had nothing to do with her, though she certainly went into overdrive in the aftermath, seeking to ensure that the Ottomans couldn't recover from the defeat, and hoping to drive them from Europe entirely.
>>
>>49798247
After a while, though, this began to wear on them. Remilia had spent the lion's share of her life as the Incredibly Tiny Turkbane, and, well... after a certain point, she felt that she'd done her part, that the 'other' forces in Europe would succeed in driving the Turks from Europe. She's still irritated about the toehold they kept. Regardless... She looked at her sister and best friend, and decided to go on 'vacation'. Use her spoils taken from vanquished foes to go on a world tour! She spent a full century playing tourist.

Just after that century completed, she saw that Hong Kong opened up as a British possession, and decided she hadn't seen nearly enough of the mysterious Orient. She started in Hong Kong, wandered over to India for a bit, then wandered up towards Tibet and Mongolia, didn't care much for them, and wandered down to Shanghai where, in a certain teahouse, she met a fiery-haired dragon... Sakuya still isn't sure about what went down or how... Meiling was drunk when she told the story, and Sakuya knows it could be an exaggeration, made up entirely, or just messing with the maid... but the idea of her Mistress and the Gatekeeper, oiled up, bereft of clothes, wrestling for dominance... it's certainly a striking one.

Regardless of just what happened at that teahouse, the result was the same. Party member GET. Meiling showed them around China for a bit, before Matthew Perry happened and Remilia decided that Japan was their next destination. So they did, and they got their first taste of Japan. The knowledge they gained of the Japanese language was very helpful later on... Nothing really notable happened there, other then having tea with a certain Sage, and Remilia started longing for Europe again. So they traveled back, and together, the stones were laid for the Mansion. She decided on a fashionable place, located on the French border, got some nice forests. So they lived more or less in peace for several decades.
>>
>>49798251
There was a hubbub that resulting in a lot of bloodbags wandering around that were half-expected to go missing for a bit, disturbing the peace. They did the elegant and charismatic equivalent of shrugging and going about their business despite the disruption, even making the best of it. Then it happened again, and this time the Mistress was irritated. She decided to go on another world tour until it calmed down, and decided for nostalgia's sake to start in Naples again. Patchouli wasn't happy about being made to get up off her ass for another round of travel. It ended up being irrelevant anyway, because before they could leave Europe... they met a certain youth, with silver hair and piercing red eyes. The teenager who would be Sakuya one day tried to kill them, and Remilia loved that brat from the very first moment.

The plan for another world tour was aborted, and instead they effectively kidnapped young Sakuya and began training. Sakuya already had some power at that point, though little finesse or control. That, obviously, changed. Meiling, then a very different person, outright tried to bully the maid to be... and found that even then, crossing silverette results in her going down. Very humiliating for her... it quite literally taught her a lesson in humility. She ended up changing, slowly, over the next several decades as she thought on this. Sakuya settled in... and with the coldest of warfare going on, Remilia got a little nervous, thinking that ANOTHER fracas was about to ensue. She negotiated with Yukari, and the rest is touhou canon. It's still an in-joke that the reason the cold war never went hot is because they got out of there, and that war will resume the moment they return.
>>
>>49798247

>It begins in the streets of Naples

Fuck yeah another Touhou fanfic set in Italy. I always imagined Touhou taking place in other countries IRL. Recently, I've been imagining how everything will go if Reimu was Italian and the setting was Abruzzo, Italy.
>>
>>49798251
Nice. This story reminds me of the Russian fanfics that are featured in the OP. I think it was the Maribel Hearn one even though she doesn't appear until much later and talks about the Scarlet sisters back like they actually are descendants of Vald and had to go to a mansion in France to protect their identities.
>>
>>49798254

>She negotiated with Yukari, and the rest is touhou canon. It's still an in-joke that the reason the cold war never went hot is because they got out of there, and that war will resume the moment they return.

Will you be going into more detail of that conversation? From what I remember, Gensokyo is a place where everything forgotten ends up. Did Yukari make everyone forget the SDM and have it end up in Gensokyo?

That’s actually one of the big things holding me back on mine. At least when it comes to the Touhou aspect.
>>
>>49851049
We should drop the term "fanfic". Just state it's a text doujinshi. ZUN got a pass on basically making one big overreaching mashup of SMT+YMO+Oriental history, not even talking about more direct inspirations/copies of stuff both during PC98 and Windows eras. You wouldn't say it's fanfic series but it's certainly doujinshi series. Do the same
>>
>>49851655
Bystander dess.
I-I didn't know about YMO. I feel even *more* scammed now. I don't want to call Touhou mere pastiche, because it clearly is something more than the sum of its parts, but then again. ZUN, man, credit your influences.
>>
>>49851706
Does beg the question. Does pastiche without "added value" actually make plagiarism? Does that mean Touhou is a pastiche, without the negative connotation? Whatever.
I liked your post, >>49851655
It's fine to wear one's influences on one's sleeve. One's knowledge of those influences also doesn't have to be perfect (when is it ever?). The point is that it works well when it's a passionate and conscientious mix.

I feel like that even with the lore we are given, the community will make up something that if it becomes popular enough, it'll be mistaken as cannon by others.

I wonder how much fanfiction was undone when Ran revealed she came from the animal realm? (IIRC)
>>
>>49851049
Depending on the character and location involved, there might not be much lore to go off of so you have no choice but to take creative liberties. I think that's the fun part of seeing fics though, seeing what the writer's interpretation of a certain character or event is.
>>
>>49851655
>mashup of SMT+YMO+Oriental history

I always forget about those influences. Touhou has really evolved into its own thing. Where you have a doujinshi of a doujinshi of SMT+YMO+mythology and whatever else he likes
>>
>>49851922
Even just the littlest off hand comment by a character can drastically change so much with audience interpretation. You can see the entire cast evolve if you stick around long enough.
>>
>>49851910
My favorite story was officially made noncompliant with canon because of it.
RIP A Fox in Paradise
she isn't even the titular fox
>>
>>49852182
That's a shame. There's probably a lot more fanfics and some doujinshis that were retroactively made non cannon because of the later games and ZUN making some things official in interviews.

I've seen art of Hijiri's hair being brown and purple on top but it was confirmed to be all purple and blonde-ish I think at the bottom.

I suppose! If I post it, I'll be posting it here, so consider this a true spoiler!
It stars a teenaged boy from the village. From one of it's wealthier, high-up families, and very recently orphaned. Definite prettyboy, and more spiritually powerful then most, albeit untrained. It's a minor worldbuilding detail that such people are more common in Gensokyo then the outside world. He's an outdoorsy type, more interested in nature and being in it then anything else. A dangerous habit, for sure, that his parents tried and failed to curb. All the money - and responsibility - that was his birthright is his, along with a truckload of grief after the 'accident'. His parents, they dearly wanted him to marry, Akyuu preferably. He's... indifferent on marriage, and doesn't really want to marry that girl, specifically... she's unironically friendzoned. It was the last thing they spoke of to him, though, and not honoring their wishes doesn't seem right with him. After his grieving is done, he goes to religion to seek both solace and wisdom for his answers. Ends up in an awkward hagromance with a woman over 200 times his age. Now tell me, be honest, is this good or shit? The idea is that he's got some potential, and more then one predator is just waiting to get their claws into him, for once reason or another.

So anons, what makes for a good harem fic for you all? Been kinda hankering at trying such but unsure where to start or how popular the concept would be?
>Does it has to be a self-insert OC, or do you mind a pre-existing character like Reimu or Marisa?
>Do you expect it to keep growing, or do you prefer a core group of heroines that stick together and interacting? Not trying to make 100 Girlfriends here, but also don't mind exploring around past the expected standard of options.
>How powerful the MC in such should be? Should they outclass their lovers, be on par with them for battle couple shenanigans, or be completely powerless and hard-carried by them?
>Do you prefer more schmaltzy, slice of life stuff, more adventurous affairs, or Hakurei Shrine Experience-tier grim and darkness?
>Pregnancy? Yes or yes (this is non-negotiable; and yuri-preg is on the table)?
>For those that play the era games like TohoK, TW, or LiG, what are your common content options? Those games are what put me on the train of thought for such for considering this project.
>Related to the above, is netori fine for harem works? Obviously no netorare (at most threats for fun conflicts, who even likes the NTR events in TohoK?) but does breaking up a couple to add one to the harem spoils the fun for you?
>>
Job market in Gensokyo must be crazy because you are competing with petty youkai for the position of being a waiter

Well for one, I would like to see more Rinnosuke harem fics. He deserves it

Pregnancy? Yes, they should all be bearing children right about now. Hopefully ZUN will introduce child characters in the next game. It can be the next step of evolution in the series.

Breaking up a couple to add them to your harem just sounds evil to me. I mean it depends on why you would do it.
>>
>>49917084
Should it keep growing? There should at least be some girls who despise you for making a harem.

CAPTCHA: RAARRG
The MC should be at least on par with some characters and should have girls weaker and stronger than hime to balance things out.
>>
>>49917361
It must be great loving in a place that doesn't rely on fake money to prop itself up. Real value in real materials like food and other goods. Was Japan really like that in the timeframe Gensokyo takes place? What did ZUN mean by this?
>>
>>49920400
Japan has been using currency since 700 AD but I think Gensokyo is supposed to be a snapshot of the early Meiji era. That said, I'm sure plenty of backwoods villages and outposts continued to barter alongside accepting regular currency until well into the 1800's.

Thanks for the ideas. Rinnosuke is an interesting pick for a lead and could leverage some of his half-yokai roots for some ideas. Would need to read more of CoLA to get a better sense of his character if I go for him as a lead, though.
>Breaking up a couple to add them to your harem just sounds evil to me. I mean it depends on why you would do it.
Touhou has some pre-existing relationships going on that I would find it a disservice to completely ignore in even in an AU setting, and I just find the idea at least interesting to humor.
>There should at least be some girls who despise you for making a harem.
For sure. Definitely helps creates a good amount of conflict.
>The MC should be at least on par with some characters and should have girls weaker and stronger than hime to balance things out.
It probably the most "normal" idea for a story. Far from against it and likely what I would go with, just more wondering about how many enjoy the extremes. Those that enjoy the raw power fantasy, stuff like Parallel Paradise and Overlord and being able to control girls with two fingers; to those that prefer more femdom-aligned works like Monster Girl Quest or To Save the World, Can You Wake Up the Morning After with a Demi-Human?.

Mechanics, bikes and cars are my primary passions after all. :D So, what's your ride? I have a Yamaha Dragstar 650 XVS. I plan to sell it to buy a Suzuki 1300 Hayabusa, and I'm working on a Volvo 960.

Man I'm more of a small displacement fan because they are cheaper and lighter. I'm riding a RE Classic 350 and it's enough to go on long joy rides for me.

I find it cool that there is at least one Touhou character that rides motorcycles and one that fixes them. Actually, there are two.

>1300 Hayabusa
Either you are a foolish adrenaline junkie that would get himself killed, or a good rider that would blow off his license into nothingness.

I was basing that more on the amount of charters who wear western inspired clothing outside of the SDM bunch. They could be youkai that flooded into Gensokyo later on who were not there when the barrier initially went up though.

Hell yeah, roadster style! :D These are actually really good for long rides, 500 kms before empty fuel! :D But you are totally right about not needing a lot of power for this.
Byakuren's my favorite 2hu because she ride bikes and do pro-wrestling moves. :DD

I managed to not kill myself on my rigged PV-50 that could go more than 100 km/h. :D But actually, Hayabusa aren't very difficult to ride if you keep it cool, you can even do 350 kms before tank empty. Once you blast it, it's an another story :D I also plan to buy an R-18 Classic or a Goldwing from the 80's to pick up girls like Byakuren or Yuiman for a ride ;D

I don't think it matters what you ride. Girls will always think you look cool riding a motorcycle.

Can't pick girls in a Hayabusa if I don't have the passenger seat. Also riding your girl in a cruiser add extra style points. :D
