Did you know? ZUN had ideas for Rumia's battle that would feature dark bullets eating the light or darkness appearing and covering the screen. He didn't really know how to properly execute these ideas until he used them with Mystia.

My head cannon is that rumia likes to act clueless and weak to draw people in to eat as underestimating someone even if you know they are dumber than you is an easy way to lose and would induce the most fear

You might argue about the killing method, though, a neck snap would have been more instant and merciful than painfully crushing him into rocks repeatedly, but its not like humans also go for painful killings towards small animals without need. Everything's balanced by nature.
