First time I've been looking into getting concert tickets since I'm planning a trip to Japan soon, is there really no way around the Japanese phone requirement issue? From what I've seen stuff like the eplus app require you to use a working mobile number to sign up, and possibly need to keep it working until the live date, right?
>>49891702It depends on the show and the platform that you are buying the tickets on (some events will use multiple platforms). I saw a concert last year that used Eplus, but I could pick up my ticket at 711 when I arrived in Japan, so it was no big deal. I did need to use a long term Japanese phone number to register, but I was able to pay using overseas credit card. Some shows are now moving to electronic tickets only, and I'm not sure how that works per each platform. For example, I believe many electronic tickets can be transferred between devices with a link, but some electronic tickets can only work on the specific device that the phone is registered to. Pretty sure when I used an e-ticket in Japan a few years ago it was just a barcode from a link that hit my email. Basically, on eplus, if it is not an e-ticket, you just need the Japanese number to register. If it is an e-ticket, I'm not sure how it will work. You would likely need the device to be safe. I've read on other threads that some people have used Mobal to get a SIM card for a long term japanese phone number where they will actually mail it internationally. I can't speak to this personally, so you can research it on your own.

>>49891702It really depends. If it's listed on eplus or pia, without a Japanese number you're out of luck, unless artists list them on international versions eventually. Lawson is also not an option. In my personal experience, I went to Nanawo Akari's live last year without a sim. She used a Sony Music's website which asked for a Japanese phone but didn't actually verify it. She now uses a fanclub system for tickets, but I assume there's no verficiation again. Some sites don’t require a Japanese number at all, like Livepocket. Speaking about artists regularly posted here, Shiyui did a live in Tokyo last year and sold tickets through the English version of Rakuten. ako sold tickets on international eplus for her last tour. For smaller bands, you can just DM them or their manager and ask nicely. There's also a chance you can get same-day tickets. In short, you either hope they have a sizeable foreign audience and are nice enough to list tickets on international websites, use a non-mainstream ticketing system, or get a Japanese friend/proxy to buy you tickets and hope it's not electronic ones.

I am more than a half year late to posting this announcement. Clam and Mirage went on hiatus at the end of April to give each member a period to focus on solo activities. At the end of this year, they will announce whether they will continue their activities as a band or retire. Shame, since I thought they were making some of the best rock of any vtuber fronted band out there. That said, I don't really know if a rock band even needs a place in the virtual sphere. I think I'd rather just go to a traditional concert. Maybe that's what they're trying to figure out.

Nobody could turn music vtubing into a profitable and scalable business. If you look at the recent (successful) KMNPARTYs as an example, they sont even seem to be bothering with models anymore. It's an expense and it's being seen as unnecessary.
