While I'm very happy Kogasa remains a good girl in his works, the only reason she is like that is only because ZUN specifically says that she feeds on fear. Rather than exploring the different types of youkai and how they interact with humanity and belief (mind you there are more types of youkai that are specifically very friendly to humans and vice versa, Lotus Eaters does this VERY WELL), he chooses the cop-out "le eat hoomans" *ALMOST everytime.I like his stuff but the constant cop-out is a turnoff.

Everyone being afraid of Reimu's needles somehow transfers a portion to Kogasa even when nobody knows who made the needles.
