To deal with this she has taken on a carefree attitude and developed a habit of not thinking too deeply about things, and instead just go with the flow. Some gag appearances isn't her entire character, we just don't get the chance to see her other aspects in the printworks. She is actually very impressive despite her shortcomings when you consider her whole character!

Now that I think about it, Youmu might actually be, canonically, fanon Utsuho.People think of Utsuho as this savant that its extremely knowledgeable of atomic shennanigans at the cost of everything else, but thats not true, Utsuho doesnt know how her powers work, she just does what shes told and only understands that if she points her cannon at things they dissappear.Youmu on the other hand underwent formal training in both gardening AND swordsmanship (although incomplete in the latter) and clearly knows what shes doing when shes holding a blade, its the second fastest just behind Aya and is the second deadliest sword behind Yorihime, at the cost of everything else that is not gardening or swordsmanship.So yeah, Youmu might be a savant and have genuine autism.

"Nonsense" was just the wrong word, what I was referring to is Suika's scenario in IMaP, there Youmu explains herself to Suika as being a bit daft because "Lady Yuyuko and Lady Yukari keep saying those bizzare things I can't understand", I just remembered bizzare as being nonsense. Regarding the SWR incident, Yuyuko's scenario basically shows that she had it figured out from the start which is why I count her among those in the know, whereas Youmu is among those who had to figure it out. Yuyuko is actually my favourite along with Youmu, their opposing personalities play very well of each other for comic effect and it's a shame that their appearances in the mangas are usually all too brief to really work on that. But my take on Yuyuko isn't that her playful behaviour is always a complete act as it is often interpreted, at times she genuinely is kind of childish, and have been shown to neglect Youmu's personal growth such as in her PoFW ending so I wonder if their relationship might also be like Yuyuko being the older sister who is naturally good at everything without having to put in much effort, while Youmu is the earnest but inexperienced younger sister who put in a respectable effort but still comes to short. I really don't mind Youmu being pathetic, I just don't think people should be so quick to cheapen her character to being plain one dimensionally stupid, when canon allows for much more. The theme of her character is duality after all, so it makes sense for her character to have multiple aspects. She can be both strong and weak at the same time and that is what I like about her. Hope that makes sense.
