Previous thread: >>50073930This thread is for the discussion of untranslated Japanese visual novels and choc mint ice-cream.What are you playing? What are you looking forward to? What have you finished?
the last thread was made bya doukyuuseichad in the midst of two major moege releasesalso is yuzuge just not that good in general? their best seems to be sanoba witch and vndb data suggests stuff like tsukikana or amakano 2 is much more preferred
Oh no. Is 魔法少女ノ魔法裁判 a Danganronpa? I don't want to have to solve cases or gather clues or any of that horrible stuff.I want to passively sit back and watch cute girls murder each other. If I have to guide the way at all I'm refunding this immediately. Please tell me it's not a Danganronpa.
>>50112016>it's a danganronpa
>>50112016not exactly complicated stuff but yeah there's trials
>>50112031Oh well. There it goes from my library. Poof.
>>50111989>tsukikananot moe
>>50111989>also is yuzuge just not that good in general? They have good production and characters most of the time. Writing is always either subpar or middling.
>>50111967She was surprisingly good despite being a vt*mor.
>>50111989>vndb scoresDont make me post their top
>>50112392what do you have against rance x
>>50112016There's no clues gathering in Manosaba. The trials themselves are average difficulty and a good amount of them you could just trial-and-error.
>>50112392wa2 in the top 3, seems fineit may be the only case where the medium's greatest work is in the popular top 3
>>50112422>medium's greatest work is in the popular top 3rance X isn't only in vndb's top 3
>>50112419>you could just trial-and-error.This is why these sort of things are better off railroaded without options or choices like a regular book. It's not like they follow real logic anyway.
How good is Schwarzesmarken at drama?
>>50112876Assuming you mean in terms of like war/mecha-genre style type of drama, I'd say fantastic. I really liked that one. It's one of the best Muv Luv entries.
>>50112881Thank you
>>50112876Pretty brutal. It leans quite a lot on politics, rape, more politics, more rape. Also, I don't think you'll find the lns anywhere, and they apparently go quite a bit more in depth. All I've got is a copy of requiem 1 & 2 ( 2 of 12 books ) if you need it.
>>50112983>politics, rape, more politics, more rapewishlisted
>>50112985Enjoy. Really though, you'll have to read the novel after the VN for a more substantial experience, and for that, you'll have to purchase the e-books wherever you so please. Amazon Kindle or anything else. Just know v7 has a special edition with some SS material and it's better you get that. It's a bit more expensive than the ordinary v7.This thing's lucky to be digitalized and finished unlike a certain other failure (TE) which never concluded and never will properly conclude until the release of integrate which will never happen. Kouki abandoned it all on a rape attempt by the way.2025 was meant to be the year of release and news, yet even then, muv luv had nothing to offer. Of course, the year isn't over proper, but you know. The crappy trailer for the crappy strategy game lacking any participating VA and the equally crappy gacha doesn't count for anything.
>>50112219Vtuber is the future, get with the times grandpa
>>50113020I'm going to be honest, I never read side material for eroge outside of eroge. And I'm not a fan of muv luv thingy because kouki is a talentless hack. Only reason I'm going to read Schwarzesmarken is because it looks fun and because kouki is not a writer.
>>50112016based retardanon
Finished Manosaba, I liked it a lot. The theme of accepting and moving past trauma and the way that ties into the trial mechanic toward the end made it more compelling than other similar games for me and all the characters were fun. They couldn't have told this story as a regular VN, or at least not as effectively.

>>50113453it should never have gotten this air of grandeur near the end, was better as a smaller scale story. Also having all of it happen at once was a mistake, finding a way to spread all these character moments would've been better and made the second half less of a slog
>>50114579>>50113453Who was the best character? Was there a schizo?
>>50114649The protags are the best, both of them. Every character is good though, it's well written in a way reminiscent of 2000 era eroge.

>>50113336chicken divers is the only good MLA sidestory>>50114675the writing for manosaba was shit, the characters couldn't even stay consistent with Arisa using her fire for arm wrestling when the mere thought of burning someone makes her panic. If not for the music and artstyle hard carrying it, it would've never gotten popular
>>50113336>Only reason I'm going to read Schwarzesmarken is because it looks funI mean it's fun in the sense of "I enjoyed this story" but it's certainly not a work that is "fun" like in terms of atmosphere or mood or something. Most of it is pretty bleak.

>>50115347For specifically the muv-luv universe, yeah that's accurate. Saying KimiNozo is important is maybe a bit of an overstatement but the connection there is stronger for sure. I liked D ~Sono Keshiki no Mukougawa~ though. Cool game with a unique atmosphere.

The reality is Tone Work's aren't (weren't) even that popular in Japan. They were just lucky to be backed by Visual Arts and that's also why they are dead, because that funding stopped.

>>50115607Please put up a catbox and share the goods anonAlso,>>50115503Unfortunately, she very much does, and her route deals heavily with 'rehabilitation'. If you're interested in 'fixing' delinquent girls with ribald pasts, read it. It's all a VN heavily influenced by the 'swinging JK' boom of 2017-2020 anyway. Here in 2025 we're in a boom of pubes, obese (disguised as 'plump') and or older women combined. Fat fetishization, pubes, hags... pubes are one nothing, but the fat fucks and these older women embroiled in jewelry I don't understand. Narratively, we're experiencing a boom of 'deliberate psyche injection' as creators want strongly to differentiate themselves from AI, so they're doing as much they can to prove themselves true humans in the form of endless jokes, references, 'harshness', and sex scenes any viewer of JAV from the 2005-2010 would be most familiar with. Naturally, they've also begun taking astute stances where once they always were wishy washy. See YUZUSOFT's newest game for that. The days of creators personality being waylaid are long gone. To prove you're a human, your individuality must shine through! Demonstrate your humanity by passionately showing us what really you like! Show us the S&M you enacted with the VAs in your creation as well! The recesses in your mind is what the market wants to see.
>>50115889I need more pubes but no fatties or hags in my visual novels

I did not want to read Tsukimi route, but people were saying how it's real good and my verdict is....1. I recognized at least 4 reused gags from Ambitious mission and that was 3 years ago so I don't even remember it that well, so there were likely more, and better! https://streamable.com/sf08dg This fucking guy....2. Still did not find Tsukimi attractive whatsoever and just skimmed past H. She did look cute in some CGs thoughever. Guess it fine for people who don't fap to eroge and still choose to read Yuzusoft(What the fuck is wrong with you?)3. Reading this and Koku loop game at the same time really makes you notice how Sakaki Kasa loves his .... ......... ...................... ..........................4. Was still worth it for his interpretation of other characters, Ena in particular, most of my saves from this route was just Ena doing Ena things. But I enjoyed Anju route more, oh and the route's "new song" was really weak, but now I'm listening to it as I'm typing this and it is growing on me as was the case with every song so far, it's just very piano focused and barely has guitar but it's comfy, it's kinda like K-on movie opening vibesGonna slowly do Miku and Kanako routes and then kill myself trying to decide whether I want to leave Ena or Ririko for last.
>>50118090All the band songs were pretty shit except for the one in Anju's route
>>50117602I got some funny looks for reading Dogura Magura in public but I guess that's inevitable when there are titties on the cover.
character design peaked in late 90s
>>50118188kiminago really traumaized me for some reasoni was expecting more but it dragged and the schizo rich family drama felt like it was written by a woman and then there it was... written by a woman
>>50118199How was Yayoi's route in Kimiita?I wish she had interaction with Kiminozo chars since she's Takayuki's landlordBut instead she's just a cameo in Mitsuki's After without any single line
Early JP learner here, anybody know what something like this is called where they use "威汰蛇鬼魔栖ッ!!" instead of "いただきます" I'm just curious about this because this isn't the first time this character has done this in the story so far.
>>50118269i just started but basically she treats the mc as a child (but she likes his D) and the mc is insecure about this. also i think she's jelous of the kouzuki sisters being another mommy figure

>>50118090>But I enjoyed Anju route moreI personally think Anju's was the weakest route. What did you personally like about it? I think both her character development and her route drama were pretty underwhelming.
Should I play sakura no uta now?Or wait for the version with more BGM and different graphics?https://youtu.be/mS8tCzCVZMU
>>50118720I was planning to read that VN a few months ago but they announced a remake I think I’ll just wait for remake since it has extra content and now more bgm.
>>50118740I just started the original but I like the original's graphics more, but the music is not bad, but also I'm missing out on the original songs...
>>50118754I also like the old art more than Toki and the remake's style. Still it's a great excuse to read Uta again.
Have I just not been paying attention or has there been a severe lack of good nukige these past few years?
>>50118720For the bunch of new content and spoilers they're showing, it's clearly made for people who have already played sakuuta. And now with this bunch of new ost to top it up, it'll be a slightly different experience than the original.
>>50118804There’s less of them like everything else these days, but beyond that it’s going to depend entirely on your tastes.
>>50118603I think in Anju route they should've pulled the 掛け持ち stuff earlier and make drama around it instead of being the ending/conclusionThe part about her playing direction returns to absolutely nothing in the end anyway
>>50118269In the remake I thought the drama shit with the typhoon and nearly falling off the cliff or whatever at the end was actually dumb and over the top. No other route had stakes like that and it was just plain out of place. The true end in the original is just OK.

>>50118291>Green-haired>Soft-spoken>Treats MC like a childUh oh>>50119142What a shame, I thought âge only added Muv Luv and Kiminozo references + additional characters here and there in the remake without changing the original plot much. I heard Marika's route got a big alteration as well
Based on previous thread, does anyone know other Vocaloid-P who does VN musics other than Kemu (Shota Horie)?
>>50118804What range is "a few years"?
>>50118603Well, it's Yuzusoft, so I don't have expectations for particularly strong routes, I just want strong girls. It's more that I find Anju extremely relatable. And I don't really enjoy Tsukimi archetype in addition to not finding her physically attractive. Rich, confident, capable, secret pervert etc. I skipped white haired girl's route in new Amakano, so I can't say 100%, but I'm pretty sure she's the exact same character, we gonna have one next month in new Marmalade game, it's been done 100 times before, it's not exciting in 2025 for me. My first and favourite girl of the archetype is Shirley from Amairo Islenauts, she did it best. If I wanted that I would reread her route instead, what I want from yuzu girls is some unique charming quirk. Like Ena(and no, her unique quirk is not saying fuck, it's constantly acting like she's a burden on a planet and she can not do anything right)The main conflict in Tsukimi route is not even hers(The fact that she has to go for Wiene for a year is just a thing at the end of the route, not even a conflict, not that I would care much if it was), it's MC accidentally copying the song. I can't say I did not have thoughts before how in 2020+ if you create a song, there's so much already out there that, what is the chance you've made something extremely similar to something that already exists, but I never tried to make music, so I can't relate as much to his feelings or the idea of trying to make music in general. So honestly, them trying to compose music was just not interesting for me.Anju, on the other hand is relatable even if you are not into music at all, because her personality revolves around being smart and having big ego and her struggles are applicable to any skill ever. She's very skilled, but her standard is her experienced pro dad, making her very self-conscious how she actually sucks when everyone around here just kinda yolos for fun. Which makes her both indecisive and feeling inferior. Both in her romance with MC and her entire route is just a hallucinated problem in her head that she's inferior to everyone else in the band and she need something to stand out. The concept alone I already find more interesting than Tsukimi's entire existence as something to think about....The other band is not meant to be a drama, it's actually just to show that her skills are worth something and her solo videos were noticed and she can be something on her own, Kanako brings an interesting idea that if you're good, you don't have to tryhard and just being a solid cog in the wheel in valuable plenty which is also something interesting to think about. But then again, it's Yuzusoft, I don't even really care what they cook as an overarching route plot as long as I enjoy romance and cute moments and oh boy do I love Anju. When I first saw her design I was expecting Amane 2.0, then I saw her outfit and was expecting jiraikei, but she's actually the most honest direct character ever. And extremely rational but also delusional(kinda like Rena in chapter 6 of higurashi). Again, her reasoning herself how she has no chance with MC because how worthless she thinks she is, but if she doesn't try she's regret it and then running away screaming and not seeng MC for days after he kokuhakud back was extremely cute, I have read quite some amount of charage, never have I seen that. The first H, she knows right away MC misunderstood her but still rolls with it, second one where they don't even have H as ichaicha or confirm their feelings, no, none of that garbage, they just kinda have sex because both of them realized it feels good...and they can..... That's only possible with Anju tier personality girl. I wanked, all 4 scenes, each one felt like an evolution of the previous one. Anju 4 - 0 Tsukimi. (Did not check afterstories, gonna do those after all routes)What did you like about Tsukimi route?!>>50119162I don't know why you're typing like a retard, but you should play them if you really want chaotic beat'em up gameplay, same as Sky. HEART is pretty much the same as Sky, except 1 new fairy mechanic, which I found annoying, solid story, nothing too specialBRINGER has really addicting gameplay, reminiscent of those zoomer games where you are constantly getting surrounded by enemies and you level up as you destroy them, shit story but some cute girls tooDidn't play any others.
?
>>50119428Oh no it's extremely different. The same premise/setting is still there (Masaki wanting to be a photographer conflicting with his relationship with the 4 sisters and so on), but the structure and scenarios are quite different. The original is an old style game where you literally just choose a girl right at the beginning to put yourself in her scenario. After that, there's a bunch of map movement, events, and so on that influences what happen. Like a lot of older games, there's a gazillion endings for everything (including plenty of cheating ones), but each girl basically has a true end. The remake has the traditional VN structure where there's actually a common route and then you end up in each heroine route. Plus there's other routes too like Touko and Munakata from MLA.>I heard Marika's route got a big alteration as wellYeah they took out the whole lesbian NTR plot lol and basically made it something else completely. I genuinely forgot most of the details of both games. It's been a while.
>>50119428>What a shame, I thought âge only added Muv Luv and Kiminozo references + additional characters here and there in the remake without changing the original plot much. I heard Marika's route got a big alteration as wellthe plot is the same as in you are an amateur photographer with 4 osananajimis, but the structure of the game is very different, and obviously the plotlines too. ~primary~ isn't canon anymore, technically there's no reason for reading it because the remake replaced it
>>50119510It being completely different is a reason to read it. Not that I'm saying it was some secret masterpiece or anything, far from it. But hey how many games from the 90s have you played
>>50119510I remember preferring the original over the remake for the most part. The remake got too bogged down in some utterly retarded age-drama a lot of which I personally didn’t find very compelling, and structurally I really do prefer the way older style games are with a lot more input and ability for the player to influence events.
>>50119521>But hey how many games from the 90s have you playeda dozen i think but i have played like 50+ from the 80s and none of those are objectively worth playing today besides maybe portopia and snatcher

>>50119409I don't understand the cause of this boob size inflation. Shitposters always blame the west but I don't buy that at all not when its happening to some eroge that don't receive localization.
>>50119470nta but I don't care so much about relatable conflicts, I just really liked the depiction of MC and Tsukimi growing closer and the rest of the cast interacting with them and each other as it happened. Just felt natural and very fun to read. I thought she would be the worst girl because the other writers handled her badly and she does have the worst design unfortunately thanks to the new artist but her writer managed to make me find her cute and engaging. Even Ena was cuter in Tsukimi's route compared to her own. I didn't care for her H though, the only H-scenes I liked were Ririko's.
>>50119617>>50119383
>>50119612>is that the best one?It depends on what you like, but let's say an Ever17 fan would like 2 most, a WA2 fan 4, and a Chaos Head fan 8. I also really liked 5

>>50119650No, I was never interested in Kasa's past works before.
>>50119639 (me)Innocent Fille is kind of interesting in that up to Memoff6, WA2 is taking inspiration from the series, re-using exact scenes, and in IF, it feels like Memoff is taking inspiration from WA2.
>>50117806Manosaba
>>50119668I love that game and that's why I saw a lot of similarities and some reused gags in Tsukimi route. And 1 thing in particualr, is because development of romance between MC and Kaguya is very much felt the same way, so I know what you mean and knew what Kasa is capable of, except I really really was into Kaguya from the start so I guess for me it's really important to be really into the girl to care about their romance even if it's the same concept and quality. I did enjoy Tsukimi more compared to common route and found her somewhat cute, but for me there's a big gap between "I don't care", "She's cute", and "Holy buhiiiiiiiiiiiii"...A lot of it is looks to be honest, so she lost from the start
>>50115531What do you expect from the devs whose inserted divorce into their moege
>>50119617I think it’s more just the general frame of reference for what’s considered big has just slowly crept up over time, and been doing so for like 30 years at this point.A character or series or game gets a lot of attention for how large their breasts are, and then others try to mimic it to copy their success which winds up increasing what’s considered the standard for large, and then if you want a character to be a big titty character then they need to be drawn even larger, which eventually winds up increasing what’s considered standard and thus big titty characters need to be drawn even larger which…You see the same trend in fan art for series that are somewhat long running like iM@S with it slowly growing more and more off model in regard to breast size.
>>50119728>A lot of it is looks to be honest, so she lost from the startNot wrong. In the end, Ririko was still my favourite from start to finish. I suppose I'll move ambitious mission up my backlog
>>50119757Gachashit becoming so popular and having such a large influence on 2D culture when it has to have a constant churn of characters and most of them having no real way of really selling them to consumers beyond first impression sex appeal has probably also contributed to the apparent acceleration we’ve seen recently though too.
Ok, now Kanako route, that's a random romance development...between cousins... sasuga side route
>>50119617Same reason nigger asses are in vogue now, americansIll give you a little tip, whenever something bad happens at a national scale about anything, always think about americans first and foremost, the explanation will come slightly after.
I thought that the supernatural bullshit was the weakest point in yuzusoft games. But after finishing LLJ, I realized that it was just the bad mixture of "plot" with romance, the reason why I read yuzusoft games in the first place. The romance part was too unnatural and weak for my taste this time.
I really hate how an annoying VA can just screw a heroine over
>>50120028Which game has their best romance?
>>50119856idk if this is a "hot take" or not, but is cousin incest really that taboo? i have a relative that married their first cousin and nobody really gives a shit. i dont really see it as taboo either since cousins are usually people you barely even know and meet like once every five or ten years. it's different from romancing your sibling in comparison.
>>50120072First cousin still feels a bit “weird” enough to me to activate my penis engine, especially if they interacted a decent amount growing up.
>>50120072Probably depends on the country, but here in the states it would be weird as fuck.
>>50119611
>>50120072In my mother's side, we had two relatives marry, everyone gave them their celebrations for it, and their baby came out looking really disastrous with some weird skull shape. Now everyone makes fun of the baby.

How can I read faster?
>>50117806I'm not the guy reading Asairo in this thread but AsairoIn terms of 2025 releases, probably this when I read it by default. I haven't read anything that came out this year https://vndb.org/v55564
>>50121100Read more
>>50121100You play nukige and read so many sex scenes to the point your brain start wanting to skip them so you end up reading faster and faster each weekI recommend study steady with its infamous 1 hour sex scenes

Any good old eroge/adventure games that use a text parser?
Yep.Would be better without the trials though.
poor soul....
>>50121622yep.spamming ... and dull as fuck writing doesn't help either
>>50121854>spamming ...First time ever reading something in Japanese?
>>50119757Just compared Azusa to Shirase and yeah I see what you mean. Both are supposed to be B91 but when you compare them (in their first appearances) side-by-side it's very noticeable.
>>50121869No.First time something with that many though, wouldn't be surprised if half the lines had them, some even twice or thrice.
>>50121100Read more. Also, stay away from chuunige since they will slow you right the fuck down, guaranteed. Anything between 21,000/hr - 27,000hr is probably a reasonable pace though and I'd assume you'd be skimming/not reading closely towards the upper end. So, normal nukige reading session basically.
>>50121887Twenty thousand hours!?
>>50121884I just skimmed through the first 5 minutes and there was nothing out of the ordinary. >some even twice or thriceWhy is that surprising? It's the most common way for writers to show that there's a pause in the dialog.

>>50119428Marika's route is alright in the remake. Her routes are mostly deal with her being adopted, later one of her co-worker abandoning her baby in desperation (with Yayoi giving verbal beatdown to said co-worker when she comes to her senses and ask her to give the baby back) , the glasses lesbian is actually being a good friend and helping her during a drama in her route, pretty neat. The yuri scene is still there but it just MC's imagination. Not going to reinstall it just to check, fuck rUGP, shit crashed every 15 minutes in windows 10, I imagine it still is in windows 11.
>>50122611the crashes should be fixed with the new anniversary box
>>50122500Roughly 2.5. ~1 over lunch with some LN, then ~1.5 in the evening with some VN before bed. Sometimes more on weekends if I have the time. Something like ~1 million 文字 of leisure reading a month on average? Time well spent. Should have started way sooner instead of Ankidroning for so long. Better late than never.
>>50122640Wow that’s great. I need to get more consistent with my reading too. How are you logging your characters per hour metrics? Are you just manually writing it into a text file from your clipboard page or are you using something to automate it somehow?
>>50122673Hook it all, someone's hooker webpage I grabbed forever ago logs the time and the number of 文字, lines, etc. For LNs just look at the completion in kindle/tsuu whatever and keep track of the time spent reading with a clock. Throw it all in an excel file, automatically generate stats and charts. Personally it kept me motivated when just starting this volume, now I figure I'll probably stop keeping autistic tracking come the new year since just reading is enjoyable enough I don't need extra motivation/shame from not putting in the time.
>>50119611I only read mizuha and didn't want to start the canadian girl despite looking interestingThat mizuha route was so long i felt satisfied only reading that one
>>50122750I use this page: https://anacreondjt.gitlab.io/texthooker.htmlIt has the characters and lines data, but it doesn’t output that data anywhere automatically. I have to copy and paste it manually. Is that what you do too?
>>50122757I thought girl on the left is the main heroine, what the fuck? Does she like to watch or what?
>>50122788Just transcribe those figures into an excel doc and do some basic workpaper design for it so you only need to transcribe three figures then? The top right corner of that texthooker keeps track of those stats for you?
>>50122853Ok I see so you are doing manual data entry no automation. Props to you sir.

>>50123263It's actually weird that Masada understands woman so well considering the kinds of stories he writes. Part of the reason why his chuuni games automatically beat out 90% of the competition.
A bassist getting a girlfriend from the same band much less having sex with her more unrealistic and fantastical than any of the fantasy elements in any of Yuzusoft’s other games.
>>50124652That's why Miku is the only realistic heroine, since she's also a bassist and from a different band.
>>50124652That's true but it's technically happened before. I'm a big 陰陽座 fan and the bass player married the vocalist.

Really haven't been up to date this year. So aside from Amakano 3, the new Yuzu and Purple Soft ges, have there been any other peak JP releases this year? Anyting else coming out in Japan in 2025 still?

>>50125119It was alright. Big improvement from the first game, but the writing still isn't anything special. Feels like a very safe and generic plot. Really cool high effort special effects and sex with the loli at least

She's really very odd.
>>50126386Pretty common in music scenes. Japan still has a way lower ratio than most countries but it's not out of place if a band member is tatted up unfortunately.
>>50126452>>50126386What a shame. Japan's disdain for tatoos is something I admire personally since I found them repulsive.
>>50126452I work with bands on a weekly basis and while exposing their lower abdomen to my scrutinizing eye is not part of the contract details -at least as far are as male members are concerned- they don't "commonly" sport ink.

>>50126495Anyone that offers up their ars-...arsenal of creative bancruptcy on stage.
>>50126476Hello, Musicusman.
>>50126512Dealing with the actual Musicusman, not the Japanese grandeur impression, is far more ROCK than ROCK music, trust me. Heave heavy shit just to find out the DoA-yes, both drunk as well as dead on arrival may apply-techno babble heads didn't really count their required equipment as such and do in fact need more XLR you currently don't have at hand because the previous indie rock band conveniently forgot the fact that they belong to the house. Or that the previous glory-hole fellator forgot to tell you that he spilled an unknown liquid over the lend-out console and your entire stage blows up into some spectacularly dangerous eletrical hazard. Or when some indie punk band asks you where the beer is because they already flecced seven whole crates and "had to make due with soft drinks" for the past hour and you tell em that this was supposed to be on the house for all the groups in the backstage area or you have to call EMT because some dimwit actually managed to genuinely fiction-like slip due to a puddle of vomit-no doubt a masterful PUNK_FCUKER's idea of a joke- and hit his head...when all of that happens you damn well beter come up with the most believable explanation for your excessive destruction of bass guitars that all sport oddly similar damage.

Ah, so this is where the kino starts huh?>new start menu>new titleHmmm yes, very nice.
