I'm currently playing Mahoutsukai no Yoru for the first time (just finished Chapter 9) and I got to ask are Alice and Aoko supposed to be so annoying? So far both of them (Aoko more so) have been okey at best and downright unlikeable at worst. They seem like quite the downgrade from Saber, Rin or Shiki so far.

I think Nasu glazed over that part of the story way too quickly, the impression I had was that Akiha realized Kohaku's intentions on a certain level while willfully ignoring them because of her guilt, not that Akiha explicitly knew about Kohaku arranging for her father to be killed but acting like it never happened.
It kinda undercuts Kohaku's role as a cunning schemer if she relies on Makihisa trusting her wayyyy too much and Akiha being aware of exactly what she's doing but deciding to ignore it.

Was that in the Arcueid or Ciel route? I don't remember it from the Ciel route and I haven't read the original Arcueid route yet since I heard it was very similar to the one in the remake.

In the remake Roa has an elaborate hideout/lair and some freaky monster minions like picrel, but when I went to find that image I read on the wiki just now I read that people suspect Arach (a new side-character) was responsible for creating them? Ciel characterizes the monsters as being products of Roa's research, but maybe she's partially incorrect?

The relationship between Roa, Arach, Makihiisa and Goto is one of the main mysteries in RG. Saiki just built the school and department store crypts and 1 (or 2) hospitals, maybe even the mansion's pagoda (unlikely but he could've done some other renovations). But everything ele like Roa (Pantheoon bullshit?) and Makihisa's plans (probably something about Inversion Impulse and Akiha's role to do something about it) and Arach's role as a mediator are completely unknown (at least to me).

What's the general consensus on the Melty Blood mangas? I've already read the visual novel for Tsukihime but I was thinking about going and checking out the manga since it's been awhile and was wondering if it'd be worth my time to read the Melty Blood ones too while I'm at it.
