Post comfy nostalgic otaku setups, rooms etc, please
There's a SA thread that for a while was broken so I could view it without an account that I used to go to every now and then full of these. Most of them were of the crawspace ghetto nerd variety but there were quite a few otaku nests I was very jealous of, picrel being one of them (I've wanted the Noriko figure at the top for a very long time now but it's like two hundred ollars, the Louise daki, too).>>50161337Is one of them, don't remember if it was in response to that post or one by it but one of my favorite responses in the thread was:>If I had a bazillion dollars I wouldn't keep my anime room in my huse. I'd keep it at the office. I'd hold board meetings in front of a seemingly endless, meticulpusly organized case of tiny polyvinyl chloride waifus and a big screen playing a muted magical girl anime. I would sit there with my fingers teepled and make manly men with rented wives with saline tits explain themselves to me, and then at the end of the day I would ride home in a chariot drawn by shiba inus.
Another one I'm very jealous of, to have not just one but multiple meticulousl organized and curated otaku rooms for different purposes. But that said, my absolute dream otaku room is to have a 1:1 re-creation of the SOS brigade clubroom. Unsure whether I'd want the furnishings to remain exactly the same with a few figures here and there (the table in the center would be the dedicated display surface if this were the case), or if I'd want to cover the walls, bookshelves shelves, etc. in Haruhi and other golden age and prior otaku memorobilia. Also don't know what I'd do about the window; if above ground then of course it'd be real with the actual view outside of it, but actually ideally it'd be underground with a facade that emulates the view of the courtyard and main school building. If it makes it easier, how it looked when in Closed Space works too.
This one leans more into the territory of "crawlspace ghetto" variety but still. It's a club room an in old university dorm in Tokyo if I recall, don't know what school though. While it's hardly the most sterile (there's some close ups where games and controllers are somehow fucking caked in like 15 years worth of wear and dust despite being constantly used and these being taken in like 2011) but I think it's a great illustration of the ideal /jp/sy hangout spot 99% of us never got to have.
Picrel is low quality because it was the loading screen of some random flash file I don't even have anymore
>>50163635>randomly check Danny Choo's IG>full of doll shit>Followed by: female co-workerWhat did she mean by this.
I'm being completely sincere, as a pre-teen and late teenager, I thought these rooms were genuinely the coolest things ever!Unfortunately, I got older and I became a man obsessed with the practicality and capacity of modular design of everything. I really wish these still were a thing without the layers of irony or vtuber trash they've probably evolved to now.
>>50166176>I really wish these still were a thing without the layers of irony or vtuber trash they've probably evolved to now.I assure you anon that if I am ever able to build my SOS club room idea, it will be poisoned by neither. Also, what's the cutoff point for "classic"? I presume 2010 and prior, but I do really like picrel and it's not like it's from yesterday.
>>50166176>as a pre-teen and late teenager, I thought these rooms were genuinely the coolest things ever! And you were right, they are. > I really wish these still were a thing without the layers of irony or vtuber trash they've probably evolved to now. There are definitely a couple of autists who still have their caves unironically, though it's not as prevalent as it used to be due to the normalization and degradation of the medium. >Unfortunately, I got older and I became a man obsessed with the practicality and capacity of modular design of everything.I feel that's an excuse. If you'd really wanted to make a otaku cave, you'd do it regardless. I personally would want to make myself such a otaku cave but I'm not a collector/consumer, so the idea of buying a lot of random merch for some anime that I like feels weird.
>>50163669>>50163702>>50164712>>50164722I've always wanted to have a bedroom like theseHow can i even start? What are some essential otaku merch every /jp/sy should have?I only have some manga...

>>50173149Awwww, that sucks. Long time ago but I hope he's okay.
>>50173149They had touhou memes back then?
>>50161244Check out MFC old archive spaces it’s full of soul itabeya rooms from the past.
Does this count?

>>50165818Danny Choo is notorious in the doll world for being fucking unhinged. That guy is not a sane and stable individual and shouldn't be allowed to post on the internet, let alone run a company. Dude will go nuclear in the face of any amount of criticism, no matter how valid or invalid. At some point the imaginary haters he would post about became actual haters because of his batshit business practices running SmartDoll. Even stranger is that he manages to get a brigade of rabid fans to whiteknight for him.No idea what he did before dolls but if it's anything like what I know of him now, it must have been layered in pointless internet drama
>>50181320He was well known on /jp/ before
>>50162067>Gunslinger Girl poster>NHK in bottom leftGood taste
>>50165818>>50181320I actually had no idea the guy in that picture was well-known (and likely neither did the guy on SA who posted it), I googled him and saw he ran a doll company but that was it. Are there any particularly funny stories?> actual haters because of his batshit business practices running SmartDollDon't know anything about this either, would love to hear more.
>>50173149Why was the Steam ID cut out?And I feel like I've seen this person before on TF2, though I don't know for sure. Def feel bad for them.
>>50173149>>50184057Nvm, one quick reverse image search and I found the profile now. Seems they used to do highlander on TF2 and have a history of cheating, they are still activehttps://steamcommunity.com/id/m4risa/
>>50184073>They He.Also apparently those allegations were just one guy who was salty that he defeated him.
>>50184104>hetake your political shit elsewhereNo, there's entire threads on UGC and other websites about hacking and the SteamHistory shows a wallhack ban from 14 years ago. It's a long history and from personal experience, Touhou TF2 people are like that.
>>50184110>SteamHistory shows a wallhack ban from 14 years agoIf you want to lie, don't make it so easy to disprove yourself. >take your political shit elsewhereYou claimed that he was "they". You brought politics into this, not me.
>>50184073lol it didn't give me anything, happy to see he's doing okayI mean even if the cheating thing is true I'd rather he be doing that then selling his asshole.>>50184128>If you want to lie, don't make it so easy to disprove yourself. I know jack about SteamHistory but that screenshot looks like you're proving what he says correct? >You claimed that he was "they". You brought politics into this, not me.You were the one who corrected him with>heSo you were still the one who brought it up. I've been calling him a guy but I don't think it's incorrect to use "they".Anyway, dunno if the guy's Japanese or not but I did find a series of pictures of a guy's library room that's a proper, well-organized collection instead of the hoard piles most people have. If I had the money to organize a large collection, this is how I would do it.

>>50184273Only now seeing the Robotek box in that photo and also only just remembered the one with a bunch of American DVDs on a smaller (less-full) shelf so it's a westoid's collection but again a very impressive one.
>>50184256nta they refers to multiple or group of people while he is singular
>>50184256Nigga read. Also, if you check his profile on other sites you won't find anything at all. >dunno if the guy's Japanese Nah, he's American.>So you were still the one who brought it up. I've been calling him a guy but I don't think it's incorrect to use "they".As >>50184305 said, "they" is incorrect.
>>50184256It was google ironically, tineye is shit. Also they can mean one person who you don't know the pronouns for. Ignore >>50184128 and >>50184353 as they are either a person related to m4risa or m4risa themselves.https://www.teamfortress.tv/user/m4risa/?page=33This is a pretty comprehensive thread on how m4risa was cheating. TF2fags love to defend closet/blatant cheaters and pedos for some reason, doesn't help they are a Touhou fan.I don't have any images to share, just keep on posting!
>>50184380https://youre-dreaming-302.tumblr.com/post/725005617014751232Found this, hope it makes up for the troubles!

>>50184305>>50184353A fundamental rule of the English language is that any pronoun can be used for a person whose identity is unknown to the speaker, which includes "they" (which while yes is partly because it could be multiple people assumed to be one, it also does not strictly mean more than one person). If a tranny wishes to forego whatever their birth pronoun is, then the unknown-to-the-speaker rule kicks in again and they can be correctly referred to as whatever the fuck you want to call them. (The above sentence is an example of the singular form of "they"; gramatically this sentence could refer to either multiple OR a singlular person that the hypothetical describes. If it were always a plural term, then the above sentence would only refer to specifically to an entire group of people and could not apply to an individual who is a part of said group. Were this the case, you could not use the term "they" for an unknown person who potentially is an indiviudal and not a group and have it be gramatically correct still. For another example, if you were to say "If a member of the SOS brigade knocks on my door, I'm gonna kick their ass", even if your reason for saying "they" is because it's pretty much a 50/50 if it's a guy or a girl, if "they" must be a plural term then it would be a gramatically-incorrect sentence because you're using it to describe a single person -- which is what the determiner "a" changes the sentence to mean -- instead of the whole group).Ironically, traditionally the pronoun "she" is used in this unknown context and is also what the troon in question presumably wants to be called, but I'd imagine you'd rather rip your own testicles off than do that.>>50184444>What in that thread proves that he was cheatingI do agree with this though,https://www.teamfortress.tv/283/ugc-highlander-rule/?page=2In this thread here, the admin accusing him seems like a prick and he shuts up and changes the subject once Marisa pretty clearly proves that he didn't do anything. And even then he continues to be a dick to the other guys arguing with him.
>>50184566Nah, the second you fuck with someone's identity or misgender it's typically something "moral" or politically motivated.>>50184581tl;drAnd yes all admins are pricks, doesn't mean some of them aren't right. Can't believe this thread turned into tf2fags arguing, you people truly are insufferable
>>50184595>tl;drThat's fine, I was agreeing with you on that part. It's long because English grammar is complicated and I wanted to explain it as clearly as possible.>doesn't mean some of them aren't right.I don't have any reason to believe that admin is right though, again he stops disputing Marisa's claims once he brings up email dates and then afterward just starts attacking random people.>Can't believe this thread turned into tf2fags arguing, you people truly are insufferableNah, I just like schooling retards on English grammar that they were too attention-deficit to learn properely.
>>50184638you contradicted yourself in the same postno, people can use "they" to describe someone they don't know the gender of or are unsure of it themselves and you coming here and defending a cheater that was exposed and quit 8+ years ago right after that thread is a guilty confession lmao
>>50184669>no, people can use "they" to describe someone they don't know the genderAgain, I agreed with you there. My long rant was explaining why "they' can be both plural and singular. I agree with that part and disagree with the cheating accusation. The only "contradiction" is see is that I don't fully agree with everything you say. I also don't see any reason to believe that he was "exposed" because again the admin pressing him stopped after he defended himself. Yes he quit after the thread but reading the thread and account history that you linked, I don't really see any reason for him to stay in a league that's so hostile towards him.
why do tf2fags ruin every thread
Poseur thread. Still nice to look at though. The only one I envy is picrel.
>>50184057>Why was the Steam ID cut out?It was an attempt to avoid derailing the thread too much but alas
