Medicine's character is defined by her status as an abandoned doll and newly born youkai, and she got an entire character arc in PoFV where she comes to the conclusion that she should leave her bubble and learn how to make friends. Yet from this point on ZUN practically abandons her himself, and we never really hear from her again. One could assume that she abandoned her ambitions and returned to a solitary life on that poison drenched hill.Medicine's fate is really sad, if you think about it. She's basically /jp/ personified as a 2hu.

The reason youkai are being chased into Gensokyo is the gradual loss of belief in their existence. But tales of creepy dolls are timeless and its not like dolls are in danger of being phased out of society.
